  1. Totally agree on the body movement. It is absolutely ridiculous and way over done. I keep thinking as a trend it will fade but every year it gets worse. Has an audience ever lept to it's feet in thunderous applause when a corps starts rolling around on the ground or doing that stupid "push" move or "beckoning the moon"? OMG OMG OMG!!! Please STOP IT!!! Other than that, I'm good!!!
  2. I saw the show in Mesquite and I loved it. So much fun and well executed. Thanks Bloo for another memorable show!! On another note, I found a vid of 1991 Palookaville on Youtube last night. What a fun show that was. Back when corps played entire songs with minimal choreography. Fun trip down memory lane.
  3. I don't think this show is legendary. It's very well executed but I saw it in Mesquite this week and I was quite underwhelmed. Maybe too much hype going into it. I thought BD and CC had much more enjoyable shows. BD blew me away. I'm not saying Babylon will not win but it's not a show I will remember. I'm all about GE and to me it just didn't have the same level of GE as BD, BC, CC or even Cavies. I still enjoyed it I just didn't love it.
  4. I've been a fan since the 1991 Palookaville show. Yes I'm that old. It's been wonderful watching the progression of your corps. This year's offering is superb. I saw your show in Denton a few days ago and I was blown away. Thank you for what for me was one of the top DCI experiences of my life. Congratulations on your win in San Antonio. I wish you continued success this season and I can't wait to see you in Dallas at Lake Highlands. Blessings and Godspeed.
  5. I just saw BD in Dallas. What an extraordinary show. The consistent excellence of this corps is amazing. I could NOT keep my eyes off of the guard tonight. Stunning visual package. Thank you BD for a wonderful, entertaining experience.
  6. LOL!! And don't forget beckoning to the moon for no reason!!
  7. Congrats Bloo!! Loved the show in Dallas. So impressive and entertaining. Press on press on!!!!
  8. I just saw the scouts in Dallas and I really enjoyed the show. I really don't follow dci like I did previously because I don't like the direction of the activity. But I digress. I began reading a few threads this week just to get an idea of what folks were saying about shows since Dallas will be the only show I attend this year. I really expected the scouts to be a mess based on the comments in this thread. I was totally surprised by the show. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Based on crowd response I was not alone. I think everyone needs to dial back the negativity. Enjoy the show. Seriously it's a crowd pleaser!
  9. I just want to give a big ol THANK YOU to SCV!! I love the show this year. It is a beautiful show and executed so well. Thank you for what you do and thank you for a 'Classic' Show. All my best for continued success!!!
  10. Someone else said it earlier. Why in the world would you want to cover up that beautiful horn line with elctronics/narration!?! I saw the show in a theatre for the first time last night. I had already heard a lot of unhappy rumblings about the narration. I even had 2 friends get up and leave the theatre becuase they didn't want to sit though Crown narration and the BD show. They had already seen both in Allentown. Honestly, I get their displeasure. I didn't leave. I wanted to see for myself. The show was beautiful and executed so well but I have to say, the narration ruined it for me. On a side note, at one point in the show the narrator says something to the effect of " I love you so much words cannot express!" I actually chuckled out loud at the Irony!
  11. my apologies for the multiple posts.. I'm not sure how to delete the extra
  12. I'm out. For years I traveled all over the country (Regionals, Allentown, all Texas Shows, finals all over the country including LOS) to watch shows and this year I reluctantly went to one of our local shows in Dallas. I left angry. It was the last straw. Every year the shows become more and more ridiculous. I agree with the OP. The ballet moves by the corps are just painful to watch. I cannot even imagine what the creative folks are thinking with some of the very strange voiceovers and electronic sound effects. At one time I coordinated a group of up to 15 people to attend our local show in Dallas. I introduced so many new fans to the activity but over the years those new fans have fallen by the way side. Especially in the last 4-5 years. I've totally pulled by support from the activity. I log on here and lurk from time to time but I am one of those that has had enough and I'm doing my part by no longer supporting the activity financially. I know there are those out there that enjoy the new direction of the activity. I happliy pass the torch. I will continue to lurk and hope that someday the activity will evolve into something I enjoy and if so I will be back. (but I'm not hopeful). signing off with a broken heart in Dallas.
