  1. Thanks for the info. Moose was the only name of these 5 guys that I could remember. I have CRS ! Bill MYNWA
  2. I was not that long ago that there was a thread World Class Discussion board about getting rid of rifles. It almost made me CRY ! Oh how I miss real guard work ! ( Sorry about that last comment to all you youngsters ). I also miss those paint peeling hornlines and drumlines ! ( I was a paint peeler myself ) I really miss the music of the old days as well . I've came back to drum corps and have had to except that it has changed. I like what they are doing these days but it is just so differant than what I did in my day. I know the one thing that has not changed , HOW HARD THESE KIDS WORK ! Bill L.
  3. That would be a mute. I'm glad I do not have to carry on of those ! It would have been the size of a two door Pinto to fit my Euph ! Bill
  4. That would be a flag. We," the hornline", did guardwork in the drum solo in 81'and 82'. Bill
  5. That is "BO-Bo", Paul Rowin and is 82'. I was out there to. Bill
  6. Myself and a few Madison Scout Alums. will be at Opry Mills in Nashville,Tn. Bill Leslie
  7. That's exactly how to measure success - by your times of adversity and how you grow from it!!! And who hasn't been in their shoes, figuratively, at some point? Life is not a series of smooth sailing - there are storms now and then. B)
  8. I bet Bobby Knight will be there if he is in town. He is a huge Madison Scout fan !!!! He asked me to autograph a program for him in 1982 . Bill
  9. I think you have been somewhat misinformed about more than a few things. ( I hope that is the case ? ) Bill Leslie
  10. Although it may be a rebuilding year (in administration and staff), this doesn't explain scores based upon a design that's just as effective as any other design (seen in Atlanta's show). Predictable? Hardly. Your opinion is respected but doesn't necessarily make sense when other corps have similar tempi and moves. The scouts' musical selections are awesome and quite well done. Their field design has been greatly enhanced/improved. Their guard is wonderful and their percussion is on the right track. And, the brass . . . they sound fantastic. All of this said, when a new staff takes over it does take "a rebuilding year" to make things tight(er). But, the current design of the show (musically and visually) is not the problem relating to scores. The problem is the perception that the staff has not had enough time to work with the corps to attain success (which, by now, is hardly believable) because they are so "new". The staff and administration of the scouts are doing a fantastic job and have worked harder than most corps' staff throughout this change (of leaders and of field design). The entire organization deserves much more respect and admiration for having made necessary leadership changes and then, necessary drill changes. Talk about busting your butt to get things done!! GO SCOUTS!
  11. Thanks Sister ! I will pass this on to the guy's tomorrow when I see them !!! I'll be with them for the next 5 days and I'm so excited !! Bill
  12. Yes, and the closer is done !!! It's now time to brake out the Ajax and CLEAN,CLEAN,CLEAN !!!! :) Bill
  13. My son said it has been back in for about 1 week. Bill
  14. I to have spent alot of time with and around the corps sence Nov. I just spent 18 days with them on the road. Every question I have asked has been answerd, even some questions I did not ask were answerd ! OldBandGuy, Are you an Alum. ? If you are you should know all you have to do is call Jeff S. and he will enlighten you. As you also should know some family Biz. is just that " Family Biz. ! " If you are not an Alum. I have a question for you, " Would you share every little detail of your family biz.?" Would everyone expect you to ? " I think not." If you are one of my Brothers I think you should take a few moment's to read the words to "The Song" and reevalutate your thoughts. Bill Leslie
  15. I'll do a shameless pug here to. This will be one year in a row for me ! I'll be out June 18 thru July 1. I'll be in the Scouts booth. I'll stop and see you ! Bill
  16. Mr. Brace, I do understand your point of view. ( I promise ) Just look at your opening statement though. Why do you think there was such a big change after last year ? ( including many board members ) It was either change the way things were done or keep on suffering. Give this time to work. I assure you that things are already better. This years people had nothing to do with the last 5 years ! That is why I feel barking at or about them is unwarrented. I do think voicing our opioions is important when they about current problems that something can be done about. I have no problem if someone thinks , so-in-so's ballad is aweful, or so-in-so's needs work ,etc...... Bill
  17. Mr. Brace, That was 5 years ago ! Dang Man, whats done is done ! This is just Drum Corps ! It's not like it's a life or death thing. People serve less time for armed robbery ! Before you make the comparison between murder and "Death of the Scouts" let me say that things have been/are done to insure that the Madison Scouts live a long life. Have some mistakes been made, YES , Will more be made, Yes ! Thats life ! As an Alum. and a Parent of a current Madison Scout I have full faith in the BOD and Staff ! I am sorry you can not find a way to get over the past but I am asking you to, PLEASE THINK OF THE FINE YOUNG MEN IN THIS CORPS AND TRY NOT TO TAKE YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT THE PAST AND USE THEM IN ANY WAY THAT HURTS THESE MEN ! Thank You, Bill Leslie
  18. Well, I started this mess and I am sorry. Some day I will learn to just now say anything on here. My intent was to cry on everyones shoulder over the fact that I was not going to be able to make it to Baraboo to see my favorite corps and my son who is marching this season. Sure everyone has a right to their own opinon on anything,as it should be. So, I would like to take this opportunity thank a few of you for pouring salt on an open wound. Bill
  19. Could it have anything to do with BOA ? :sshh:
