  1. The ones that aren't in domes omes omes omes ss ss ss ss
  2. The one that has serious intentions of making the top 12 for the first time since 1979. If the show matches the hype, they will....
  3. Trends being what they are, I'm guessing black pants with some sort of blue tops. Maybe two shades of blue
  4. <Sigh> I love the Bluecoats. The new uniforms remind me of blue devils, blue knights, even spirit. Sorry - I know everyone will reply that this and that detail are sooo much different from blue devils, etc.etc., but I'm just saying, in general, so many corps are starting to blend together, with the blue and black....... I preferred last year's look. But that's fine - I don't matter
  5. Geeze, nice attitude. Bridgemen were disqualified. They broke a rule or rules. Are you disputing that? I wish they hadn't broken the rules, becuase they had one h*ll of a great show that year. Same with Muchachos. I thinks that's all they were looking for in an answer. No need to conduct a search. And, no need to apologize to you either.
  6. You're both right. '75 Muchachos and '77 Bridgemen. Evidently back in the day we had more trouble with math.
  7. 1988 Scouts, from the 180 degree move into the wedge till the end of the show.......couldn't really hear it through the cheering.
  8. 79 Regiment. Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral........
  9. dccorpsfan, I'm with you: 1975 27th Lancers
  10. 1999, semi's, Cavies, doing a four-man 360 degree rotation thing at the end of their opener - one or two guys go down. Fortunately they recovered, preventing a real train wreck.
  11. Silvertrombone - What?? Where's this old vs. new rant coming from? Where in my post did I say one word about that? I was adding my opinion that I didn't find Star '93 particularly innovative. So, shoot me. Am I not allowed an opinion? Thanks for the rant from nowhere. Saying that someone not liking that show made Bill Cook successful?? What? No, it didn't p*ss me off, or make me uncomfortable. Please....it was just a friggin' drum corps show. I simply didn't find it entertaining. Sorry. Please, show me where I said modern dci sucks. 2006 Phantom was the best show I ever saw. And, you never heard of 1965 Royal Airs? Well, that was before my time too, but I took the time to learn the history of my activity, know that Gail R. thought that show the best he ever saw, and caught their reunion show to see for myself. Perhaps, before you launch another off-the-meds rant, you should do the same.
  12. OK. You're right. I'm wrong. There weren't *long periods of silence.* So I'll restate it admitting my error about '93 Star: Long periods of *playing real soft ppp* didn't get my heart pumping. I guess I'm too dumb. I appreciate all the hard work put into the show, really I do. And, it didn't p*ss me off, or make me uncomfortable, it just left me, I don't know, with no feeling at all. Not what I look for in a corps performance, that's all. AND, yes, Star *quit* after '93. And the activity is all the poorer for it. Would that have happenned had Star finished 1st that year? I'm just saying - all the talk about how Star "moved on" just doesn't seem to tell the whole story. Is it possible there was a little sour grapes mixed in there as well, you know, getting jobbed out of 1st place two years in a row? And the seamless show? How about 1980 27th Lancers, that was a seamless show, no?
  13. Star '93: Saw them, didn't think much of the show then, and still feel the same about it now. I'm with "DCI has been," protracted periods of silence didn't get my heart pumping. I know Star '93 has been widly praised, but, I guess, I still don't get it. If it was so ground breaking, why hasn't it been copied / repeated? Who has done a show like Star '93 since? Not copied means not ground breaking IMO. Maybe it's because they quit after that year that creates the mystique.
  14. 2001 Scouts! Saw them at Waukesha Wis. The skies opened up and poured down rain through their entire show and NOBODY CARED! Did they stop the show and wait for the rain to stop? NO! Not the Scouts. And the crowd ate it up. It seemed like everyone was standing and screaming during their entire show. Are you kiddin' me? Ballet in Brass - Les Brown and his band of reknown.......how did that show not place higher than 11th??
  15. The 1977 Garfield Cadets was actually the best 12th AND 13th place show................
  16. Didn't National Public Radio do a "This I Believe" series a few years ago? Is this what Cadets are doing. Sure sounds like it.
  17. 1. thru 6. The Usual Suspects 7. Carolina Crown 8. BC 9. BK 10. Madison 11. returning to top 12 for the first time since 1979, the BLUE STARS (bringing tears to the eyes of many old people..) 12. Colts which leaves out: Spirit, Glassmen, Crossmen, not to mention Troopers Tough call.
  18. Agreed. BUT, what if they just announced the policy banning cell phones at the April camp? I think the policy should have been made before contracts were offered. If you're going away from your family for the first time, for three months, and now are told no cell phone, boy, that would be a problem with me as a parent.
