  1. If there's one director in the world that I would have hiring people for me it would be Greg and the rest of his admin staff. I'll agree with everyone else that keeping Chris and Ray was a smart move and releasing Mr. Hunt and Jude was best. It seems to me that Jude and Jeremy is/are a package deal anymore, however it was time for a new direction in my opinion not only as a member learning from both of them, but as a colleague and spectator of their work after my age out year. It appeared that the quality of the visual design began to fade, as did the show design. And yes I'll agree with a previous post that there were some cases with Jeremy where things may have gotten a little suspect as far as respect for the members was concerned, but no one was ever put in harms way. Kudo's to Greg and his staff for doing what they feel had a to be done in the best interest of the members and I look forward to seeing them this summer. GET SOME RED TEAM!!!
  2. I thought it would drop a bit when they went WC. My last years fees in 2008 only totaled 1400. Good luck to all. I'll see you at some point on the road this year.
  3. At least I'm not the only one here who thinks bad judgements can be made...I saw them happen A LOT with one of the corps I taught this past summer....I sincerely wish nothing but the best for the boys from Madison(and always have since they got me to love drum corps with their 99 show)...I hope I was wrong with my assumption because I know Scott will do nothing but his very best everyday he steps on the field with those kids. Best of luck to Madison this year and I can't wait to see their show this summer as I'm sure I'll run into them at some point on tour in 2010.
  4. Post has been removed...I apologize sincerely to the Colts organization for the poor representation. The issue should have been resolved on a non public forum. I wish the Scouts nothing but the best of luck this year as I will see them on the road at some point I'm sure.
  5. I worked with Jarred at Teal this last year...Fantastic teacher, musician, and human being. I wish them the best of luck this year.
  6. I'll stand next to John on this one. Great food all summer long!!! And all healthy too!!!(coming from an Exercise Science major)
  7. This makes me proud to be an alum right now...And it's not the first time since I've been involved in the organization that they've stepped up to help another corps...Thanks for being classy guys and best of luck to the Gmen!!!
  8. This kinda study is exactly why I wrote the pre/off season workout book that a few corps use, including the ones I currently work for. I just don't have my doctorate and publish a lot of studies. Glad someone from the ACSM finally did!!!
  9. Before I post, to not offend anyone, I must mention that I'm generally a fan of Phantom and have many friends who march there. So I mean no disrespect by posting this. I just think the songs funny(as do some of the members I know). (To the tune of the 1812 overture) I march at Phantom cause I like 4th place (not true anymore) I march at Phantom cause I can't play jazz I march at Phantom cause I hate free days I march at Phantom cause I'm *$*@%@! Adam Sage (not true anymore) What color should I wear? White, Black or Tan? I march at Phantom cause I like straight lines I march at Phantom cause I like 8 to 5's I march at Phantom cause I have no self esteem (not true) I march at Phantom cause I have the color green
  10. Which would be true if they were marching 72 this year. But they're not.
  11. That was me who proposed in the video. I was scared to death. It was heavy pressure not only because of my corps(Colts)were there, but so were the Colt Cadets. This was the greatest moment of my life though. Certainly something I'll never forget.....I love you Bri(my fiancee). Kendall Kruse Dubuque Colts Drum & Bugle Corps Contra 04' Lead Baritone 05-08' Colt Cadets Brass Staff 07-09' Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps Visual Staff 09'
  12. You're forgetting the Colts have always had a smokin cymbal line. I&E Champs in 05' 2nd in 04'
  13. Congrats Greg!!! You've done more me than you'll ever know!!!
  14. Personally, (biased as it may be) I'm going to have to agree with BozzlyB here. Yes it's true, I really don't know much of the activity because frankly, I've only been involved in it for 5 years. But I think I'm gonna take BozzlyB's opinion on the matter and consider it a little bit more legit, because quuite frankly, he's been around the activity a LOT longer than both you and I Joe. Now, if you want to be partial to someone because they're with your corps now, that's perfectly ok. I'm certainly not the guy who should be telling you who and who you should't be in favor of. But like the man himself said, "Colts will be fine." It's gonna take a lot more than one staff member leaving for us to fall out of finals, because as you know, it takes more than one person to staff a corps. And this year, the only staffs that have made major changes were our brass and percussion. And as of now, IMO, we're moving at a faster pace this year than we did the last two years. Just my $0.02, however welcome or unwelcome it is. Good luck on the upcoming year.
  15. Well, speaking from a members point of view, I personally think that we(the colts)have a good relationship with every corps. Yes, we(or at least I)enjoyed the competitive aspect of everything that went on this season. But numbers aren't whats important. Everything this summer stayed pretty friendly between us, in the lot and other places...And it's actually quite nice for me on a personal note, that I go to school with someone from the Blue Stars mello line, because we're able to share stories and compare a lot of similarities and differences because our corps are so close in a competitive aspect...But anyways, before I ramble too much...The Blue Stars in my book and I'm sure in the books of some of my fellow Colts brothers and sisters, are good people. Best of luck to them and everyone else this season!!!
  16. The Colts I know are certainly looking for some good front ensemble people...Give em a jingle...We've only had one camp thus far so we know nothings set in stone yet!!! www.colts.org
  17. This is just one of the many reason's why I'm still marching with(and plan on marching till my 09' age out)with the Colts. Greg Orwoll, being one of the most community minded people I know, makes sure that the Colts help take care of the community of Dubuque as much as they can, because we know that it's the community of Dubuque that has taken care of them for so long. So to the organization that I love, I want to say way to go!!! And certainly, for anyone wondering, this is certainly an organization that takes care of it's kids!!! Thanks for posting this 84skyrydr...I'm not at home this week, so I don't get my Dubuque paper for a while!!!
  18. A few people come to mind with this one...After only 2 years with the Colts I owe these people a lot for influencing how I teach and how I go about everyday life... Beth Wilson-An amaizing teacher, with a passion for helping people figure it out, but all the while, remaining a good friend Travis Williams-His passion for teaching is unreal, and his ability is even more unreal. He's the one who always humbled me when I marched contra that I DIDN'T always know what I was doing. And even when I did know what was going on, he almost always brought something to my attention that I didn't even think of. He's made me always work harder because theres always another level of greatness. Nathan Wilhoit-With his laid back attitude, but ability to get things done has greatly influenced how I react to a situation. He taught me that you just have to take life as it comes and know that God will be there with you in the end. Jared Brockmeyer-He showed myself(and many others)that hard work can be achieved with a little fun and jokes inbetween. His style of teaching also showed me that you can take things seriously, but not so much that you can't have a little fun inbetween. Greg Orwoll-He has influenced me in more ways than I can count. But the biggest one was telling me that I can only be as great as I tell myself I can be. But we as human beings have no idea how great we can be. These are just a few, mind you, that stick out in my mind. But trust me, there are many more and I'm sure there will be more to come.
  19. Colts 04 had a juggler in the pit during the closer.
