  1. For the record, this is the type of response I was looking for. I'm interested to see how you think the championship shows would place relative to 2008's top 12, not relative to the other champions of the decade.
  2. In my opinion, 2008 has been the best year top to bottom of the 00's. My question is this: where do you think the previous championship shows of this decade would place given the the strength of this year's top 12? 2000: Cavaliers/Cadets tie 2001: Cavaliers 2002: Cavaliers 2003: Blue Devils 2004: Cavaliers 2005: Cadets 2006: Cavaliers 2007: Blue Devils Thoughts?
  3. I liked the 06 drumline a lot more than this year's, just because the 06 line had a lot more exposed, lengthy features. The 08 line was still impressive, but I prefer the book from 06. As for the dynasty, we will just have to see. It definitely looks as though Phantom is recruiting the best players and IMO has the best arranger in DCI in Rennick. They are the line to play for right now so I'm sure their success will continue.
  4. I'm the first to admit that I'm a huge Cavaliers fan, but after watching the semi's stream, they realistically could end up in 4th after tomorrow night. The performance tonight wasn't intense, didn't have any energy, and was "safe" at best. My favorite corps let me down bigtime. Especially after Phantom put on an absolutely brilliant performance. The judges noted the difference too, as PR pulled ahead tonight. I have a feeling the same could happen again tomorrow night, considering they have to follow Crown, another corps having a stellar year. Like I said, I'm one of the biggest supporters of the Cavaliers around, but even I can be realistic. My prediction is that they will finish 4th... but that's certainly nothing to be ashamed of in a year like this! And for the record... I forsee Phantom making history tomorrow night to win finals. They deserve it! Go PR!!!
  5. Haha, well either he just can't say it right for some reason (in which case I feel for the guy), or he's doing it on purpose for effect. Who knows??? Funny though.
  6. Cadets new ending = BIG thumbs up from me! I thought it was a great alternative to the uber cheesy ending they used to have. Bravo, Cadets!
  7. Congrats Madison! I LOVE that show! Saw the potential for a finals spot when I first saw them in Normal, IL early season. Well done Scouts!
  8. Just downloaded Cavaliers' performance and I have the same issues. No bass AT ALL and overall pretty weak volume. What gives, DCI?
  9. Snares: Cavaliers/Bluecoats/Cadets Tenors: Phantom, hands down... somehow they got those Dynasty's to sound exactly like Pearls. Bravo! Basses: Cavaliers
  10. Wow, that is impressive. I'd love to have that kind of determination. Problem is, I'm too weak to do that! Gotta have my drum corps fix, I can't help it.
  11. -Crown's reprise of various famous endings (diamond cutter, z-pull, disappearing company front, etc.) during the closer -Cavaliers new ending -BD's short "swing" section -Cadets ending
  12. If you switch Phantom/Cavies and Crossmen/Madison, that would be my pick for final standings right there!
  13. Should we close all of the threads where the BD faithful were calling a championship since the beginning of the season too? Come on, let Cavalier fans celebrate a win. No one has said that anything is a lock, not even us Cavaliers fans. Everyone knows that anything can happen. Should be a great finals week!
  14. I agree I'm also a little perplexed. I remember watching their Atlanta performance and thinking "this show is a lock for 8th." Now they are in the battle just to make finals? A little strange, but I'm sure they will still end up in the 8-10 spot.
  15. Oh, and I did some research into YOUR post history and found that you're a total BD honk. Which not only makes you a hypocrite, but completely explains why you would blow up at me for having a negative opinion of BD. I love the Cavaliers, but I don't attack people who criticize them. It all makes sense now...
  16. Haha, surely you aren't serious with this post? If you actually read my posts and my reviews I always give BD credit for the talent of the performers and how great they are even if I don't like the show design and packaging. I'm far from a "King of all BD Haters" (a laughable title by the way)... I am merely someone who is critical of the design of their shows. It's just not my cup of tea most years. Is that a crime? Am I not allowed to dislike a BD show? According to you I'm not. Yes, I'm a fan of the Cavaliers. So what? It's my taste. Get over it. Obviously it hurt your feelings that I'm not head over heels in love with BD this year. I'm sorry to offend you. So everyone else beware. This is an opinion forum... but make sure you have the RIGHT opinion!
  17. It's absurd that BD is undefeated thus far. Every time I watch the show I'm left scratching my head. How this program is beating the competition by a significant margin is definitely puzzling. My prediction: Just as in 2004, the Cavaliers will come within .1-.2 of BD this weekend and beat them for the first time at Quarterfinals.
  18. I agree with the OP, it really has been interesting to see how everyone's opinions have changed a bit coming out of Atlanta. It seems that everyone loves Phantom, are warming up to Cavies with the new ending, and are falling a bit out of love with BD. This is isn't suprising to me though. This is just following the typical pattern. Phantom has a crowd favorite, BD maxes out on their show, and Cavies make a push for 1st as they continue to add to a deep program. It should be a great finals week again this year! Ultimately I tend to agree with most here that it will come down to Cavaliers and Phantom Regiment.
  19. Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long. That's crazy. This could definitely be the year though. I could see the Top 3 being Phantom, Cavies, and then BD.
  20. I'm really beginning to wonder if you are what your name says you are. Not only can you not type using correct grammar and English, but you take every opportunity to bash on the Cavaliers. Could this be because you beloved Cadets are getting beaten by the green team this year? Something tells me if Cadets were beating the Cavaliers right now you wouldn't be whining and calling Samurai a show worthy of a HS marching band.
  21. I agree with the OP. Barring any sort of miracle or major collapse on finals night, Phantom Regiment will take home drum trophy, and rightfully so. They are one of the most musical lines I've heard while also playing TONS of notes. Listening to them is such a relief after hearing BD ram away for 11 and a half minutes. As musical as PR is, BD is equally UNmusical. If you disagree with that, I think you are crazy.
  22. I'm sorry but I couldn't pass this up... Cavies in 5th? Is this really how you forsee it or how you just want it to happen? Look, I'm not saying the Cavaliers are going to win, but they sure as #### won't be in 5th. They will be top 3, guaranteed, and still have a shot at the title... 5th place is reserved for the Cadets this year.
