  1. I'm only one person so I can't speak for the rest of the corps, and I'm not a vet so I certainly can't speak for the vets, but John is a great guy, a great conductor and I know that he'll be a fantastic drum major. Similarly, Weedy (a vet) will be a great assistant DM, and Sean (a vet) will be one hell of a horn sergeant. And that's really all that matters, right?
  2. That, and they borrowed horns from local high schools to meet demand (since not all of the 2010 horns are ready yet). Move along people.
  3. DCI Minnesota?!? Is that in the new UM stadium?!?
  4. YES (my ears still hurt), absolutely, and YES. We did chords at Teal while in a similarly echo-y echo chamber in Michigan City in 2008... overtones through the roof. Then the Oregon Crusaders walked in...
  5. I was totally just about to post that story. Yeah, it's tough to get used to (I was that guy who showered in his bathing suit my rookie year), but you definitely get used to it. I miss naked time...
  6. To borrow from one of your Facebook friends... BLOOIEEEE!!!!!!!
  7. Giving myself one last shot at World Class and going out for Madison's mello line for my age-out... if that doesn't work out, probably going back to Teal.
  8. Agreed... not fun. I marched 07 Mystikal, where we had all of 13 horns (though a pretty big drumline and guard). Very difficult season, especially when you're like me and have to strain to not be really loud.
  9. Hah, and you would know. I think we have our answer.
  10. Well, only one corps out of 20+ in WC can "win" each year, and only one corps out of another 20+ in OC can "win" each year, so I'd say if people get so tired of winning, I'm guessing there would be a few less people in the lower tier corps... And honestly, I've never heard anyone who marched say in September, "Man, my summer was pretty fun, but I feel completely unsatisfied because we didn't win." Emotions like that are for Finals night. Those who "get it" realize very quickly after coming home that finishing the season was one hell of a reward in itself. Just my two cents, of course.
  11. Heh, didn't stop me... Going to be weird not going to Allentown this weekend, that was always a fun show.
  12. I thought they already announced were doing Pines of Rome? Oh, my mistake. It was Medea, right?
  13. Just listing the ones that I know (aka minus Pio and Cascades). Academy - 06 (yes, they were still Open Class, but man, that hornline...) Blue Devils - 07 Blue Knights - 06 Blue Stars - 08 Bluecoats - 05 Boston Crusaders - 09 Cadets - 05 Carolina Crown - 09 Cavaliers - 06 Colts - 08 Crossmen - 08 Glassmen - 07 Jersey Surf - 07 (ditto from Academy) Madison Scouts - I'll be a rebel and say 08... 05 was very good too though Mandarins - 07 Pacific Crest - 08 Phantom Regiment - 08 by far Santa Clara Vanguard - 05 and 09 pretty much tie Spirit - 08 Troopers - 09 and a bonus... Teal Sound - 08
  14. 08 was fine... there were some small problems on certain parts of tour, but nothing any drum corps doesn't go through. Nothing that was anything close to horrible, and if anything it was a learning experience for both member and staff. I still ate better that year than I ever had though, thanks to Miss Phyllis.
  15. Say what? That's the first I'm hearing of this. I guess that's why I got so thin last year...
  16. Any word on Spirit of Disney? And I'll join in on the chorus... thanks so much Kevin!
  17. I think you can argue for a different top 10, but hey, they never call it marching bands, get all of the instruments right, and even throw in some old timers. Pretty cool! http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages...1914707,00.html
