  1. Wait for recaps to see how they correct it. Looks quite easy to type an 8 instead of 5 on the num keyboard.
  2. Here are the OFFICIAL DCI scores: Drums on Parade Place Corps Score Division I 1 Blue Stars 71.000 2 Madison Scouts 67.750 3 Southwind 64.500 4 Cascades 63.950 5 Pioneer 60.300 Division III 1 Capital Sound 52.850 All age corps 1 Minnesota Brass, Inc. 63.163
  3. Memphis Sound is listed as a Div. III corps on their website.
  4. Remember, there is still over a month of rehearsing/shows left to go. Things could drastically change or they could remain the same. Don't judge too soon! Remember, no one really knows who was first.. the chicken or the egg!
  5. I am still amazed that so many people here won't let Spirit grow up and out of the image that they have been known for. Some things are better left in the past. I say this as a FMM back in the 80's. No need to flame until you have been to a show, seen the uni in action and can then formulate your thought from eye to eye perception. If you do not like it after that then you are welcome to your opinion. Thanks!
  6. I am a graduate of Columbus State University.. the best secret in the Southeast United States. :)
  7. HAHAHAHA.... I was just thinking.... it would be just as easy for me to alter the 68 on mine to be 88 so I could march one more year. I don't think my body could handle today's drills.
  8. OMG....... 1990 Dutch Boy. That guard was just..... well...... I'll leave it to the imagination. Go watch the finals video. ^OO^ ^OO^
  9. Right now Wayne Bergeron and Rick Baptiste are the duo that plays all the awards shows on TV and the latest series of Reality shows like Grease, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, etc.
  10. OT: Milton HS stadium is a very nice stadium. Those attending the show in Atlanta will like the sunken field. It sits about 12 feet below the walk ways all around the stands and endzone entrances. You'll get a decent view from the side, not to mention the huge grass hill beside the stands where people will undoubtedly be sitting watching the other corps performances. I predict mass chaos trying to walk around the stadium thoug as there is just not much room for travel once people stand around and stop moving. The band show held there this past fall is a testiment to the above stated items.
  11. He started when he was 4 on a pocket trumpet and has played with the people listed in the article. He has an affinity for jazz moreso than any other type of music. That is what got him intersted in the first place. The cornet in the video is still quite big for him and his hands.
  12. If you want to see a band version if this already being done check out Jackson Academy through BOA. They perform on an indoor tarp as they rehearse indoors and not outdoors and yet compete with the rest of BOA every year. Marketed the right way I think this could work and take off. Would give musicians in the "off season" something to do. Others might choose the indoor idea over the outdoor summer groups. Definitely something to consider pursuing.
  13. I think most of the nerves come from not knowing what to expect because you are in foreign territory. I remember my first days with Spirit back in the 1980's. The best advice is to just go and do the best you can. If you can syke yourself into thinking that you want the staff to find your problems instead of going in there and thinking OMG what if I screw up or do something they don't like you might feel a bit more comfortable. That is why most students who make All state or all region bands do so consistently cause they are used to the process of the audition and go in ready to do the job instead of hoping they do the job well enough to please.
  14. Looking for a good school in the southeast that is the quality of an Eastman, has no football/marching band to worry about and the top rated facilities in the south? Check out Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. A relatively unheard of school because they do not get into the marching band scene but have one of the finest Directors of Bands to come along in the south in a very long time. http://music.colstate.edu They have tons of scholarship money to give every year.
  15. For the KING afficianados: From the 2006 Midwest Clinic. Mandarins and Northern Star are using King brass as well as Spirit.
  16. Nothing that I am aware of nor has been talked about in the Alumni forum for Spirit publically.
  17. email jd shaw at jdshaw@bostonbrass.com and ask him whatever it is you want to know. Be prepared for him to first and foremost tell you to buy the audition book from the regiment web site. LOL. Good luck!
  18. What if you had 128 midgets in a drum corps? Would they qualify as a mini-corps? ($1 to Sir-tix-alot)
