  1. So, did anyone locate the "dot poster" the OP originally asked about, 6 pages ago?
  2. It's Bluecoats, but it's not "When Autumn leaves begin to fall". The funny thing is, is that I don't know what it really means, it was after my time.
  3. This is all part of what made them the good old days. While it looks as though I marched later than you and didn't have it quite as bad, I would not have changed much of any of this. It was all part of what made drum corps so great. One thing I hated was tracking. In '88 we would track until I was ready to pummel the instructor who was leading it, but still, that's was part of the greatest thing that drum corps is.
  4. That's a pretty close second. But since we replaced it, hopefully everone forgot about it.
  5. We didn't do the big snare line that year. And if anyone ever plays Doodletown Fifers again, they've got to be simple in the head. Has to be the worst song ever. Just felt like quoting this.
  6. I know the name, but I can't remember if he was still there in '86 or not.
  7. I've said this before, 'Coats should have let the dude march that year and taken the DQ if necessary.
  8. That's exactly the situation I was in when I marched. Under the current rules, I would have gotten that "extra" year. My birthday is in July. Under the rules when I marched, I aged out when I was 21 in 1988. Under the current rules, I would have been able to march in 1989 and be 22 when I aged out. I also marched with two guys in the tenor line that fell under the "extra" year category back when we marched. One guy was one school year ahead of me, but aged out with me because his birthday was after Finals and before the school age cut off. The other guy was in the same school year as me, but because of the same reason, he could have marched in '89. So yeah, it is an "extra" year.
  9. I actually can't answer this question. I really have no clue why I did drum corps and why I enjoyed it so much. It was arguably one of the greatest times of my life, I wouldn't have changed it for anything, and I wish I would've/could've marched more than three years. But I don't know why.
  10. I don't think the year 2020 fixes the problem. "I marched '20 (twenty) Bluecoats". What did you say?? You marched twenty Bluecoats? At the same time!?! Still doesn't work.
  11. Even though I'm a HUGE Rush fan, and Neil is a god, I agree that I don't think he has what it would take to be in a top 12 snare line. I think he might have the chops for it, but not the technical capabilities. But then again, that would come with practice.
  12. I was there at Finals and while I can't say for sure, it did seem to rattle them. I saw the fall and then at the drill set where he caugtht up to the line, the top bass overshot the stop and ran into the end snare. A couple sets after that one of the snares at the other end overstepped a stop. I watched the snare who fell down the rest of the show and he just didn't seem to be as into the show as the rest of the line. Maybe that was completely normal for him, but to me it did seem to rattle them.
  13. Ralph came in to one of winter camps prior to the '88 season to teach us how to properly play the timbales and timbolitas for our Take 5 number that year. At the time we didn't know who was all going to be playing them so we all got a lesson from him. I was in awe of him just being there. I can now say that I was instructed by Ralph.
  14. I've got one question, out of curiosity. $2500 - $3000 for tables? How many tables do they have? And what are they made out of? Okay, so that's three questions, but I was really referring to the first one.
  15. It already exists: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...ighlite=%2Bsdca
  16. They did this same thing last year. It was the first time they did it. I don't agree with having the banquet the day after Finals, but times have changed. I guess it makes sense to not provide transportation back to Canton, because like Bryan said, there really aren't many, if any, members from the Canton area. I always liked that last bus ride home though. It was kinda bitter-sweet.
  17. Ken, those are pretty cool graphics in your signature. Did you make them?
  18. I don't think that's the reason, because I'm pretty sure they warm up with the drums on stands.
  19. I'm not really sure of the tone here, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I was just asking a question. I actually just recreated one of my '88 Member shirts so I'd have one that fit. I changed the colors so I could put it on a gray shirt.
  20. The current ones aren't as generic as they used to be when they were white. I guess in hindsight it would only be a problem if you were to try and sell them.
  21. Do you risk violating licensing issues by doing this yourself? Could there be legal repercussions? Just asking because I've been wanting a miniature Bluecoats helmet but they say it's too expensive to get made, so I was going to make/get made one myself, but I was afraid I would be violating some sort of licensing issues.
  22. Ah, can't help you there. That's what you get when they're playing with the drums on stands. :-)
  23. Well I figured since PMs sent notifications directly to people's email accounts, this would be like killing two birds with one stone.
  24. Do you mean heels touching, but toes apart? A lot of entire corps stand and mark time like that. That's just the way it is. When I marched, we stood and marked time with the entire foot together. Now the Bluecoats do it with just the heels touching, but the entire corps does it, not just the drum line.
