  1. Doesn't make it less annoying! Just have the automated generator dump the full text of the article (including the link?). Re-directing someone to another abbreviated source just so they can redirect again is just bad web design.
  2. Does it bother anyone else having to go through 2 "Read the rest of the article here" 's every time the DCP Bot posts these links?
  3. Corrected link for Sir Richard Astlenson. That would be an AMAZING PR show.
  4. The 2009 Sitao season kicks off with two open house dates (Sept 14th and Sep 21st 1pm-6pm) . These dates are open rehearsals and everyone is welcome to attend. Returning members and those intending to audition are strongly encouraged to make at least one of these dates. Please note that both guards will be competing in WGI Regional(s) this year (although only the Open guard will be traveling to Dayton). Both Sitao Guards ("A" Guard and "Open" Guard) will have auditions on October 5th and October 12th. Both auditions are from 1pm to 6pm. If you cannot make either of these auditions dates you must contact us to make other arrangements. While it is possible there will still be spots available after auditons, we cannot guarantee that to be the case. New to the Sitao family this year is April Gilligan. April will be designing the Open Guard's show this season. Open House and Audition dates will be both be held at the Boys & Girls Club / Rockland St location. Boy's Girls Club of Lancaster-Rockland St 624 Rockland St Lancaster, PA 17602 Audition Checklist: Audition fee is $35. Wear black dancewear appropriate for the activity Bring your own rifle and sabre. Flags will be supplied. Bring a light meal and snacks for breaks. Bring plenty of water.
  5. REALLY Good question.... but... Here's something consider. Doesn't CI make an implicit assumption that the Corps remain the same year to year (for eg.) Cadets 2008=Cadets 2007=Cadets 2xxx=Cadets 199x=Cadets 198x etc... Performers constantly change, show design constantly changes, staff frequently changes. And the chemistry (if you will - the mix of all those factors relative to each other and relative corps-to-corps) is changing even during the season. Does CI claim that only the NAME matters?
  6. I think WGI is a better fit for Olympic sports than DCI but... A) DCI would have to be recognized as an International Sports Federation by the IOC B) a 2/3'rs vote by the IOC to promote the Federation to Olympic status C) simple majority vote of the IOC to get the sport in the next Olympic program. I think the congress for the 2012 summer games has already met. So next chance for marching arts would be 2016!
  7. Did anyone else see the WGI jacket on one of Mia Michael's assistants when she was choreographing for the finals competition?
  8. Putting together the "official" announcement now but Sitao Open is extremely excited to have April Gilligan designing our show this year. Our "A" guard will also be entering their first WGI regionals this year as well.
  9. How DARE Crown play familiar music and arrange it so cleverly. How DARE they have fun with their concept? How DARE they play the snot out of it. As for demand...just watch what the trumpets do with their bodies during Claire de Lune. Their tone quality is never affected during the entire series of body moves in to the ground. In very many respects CC's musical and visual repertoire and technique is cutting edge drum corps. If Finis were just a knock off on other corps show (yet another WSS or yet another Malaguena) , I'd get the "not again" attitudes here. But CC's approach to their repetoire is fresh, light, and fun. It's so bizarre to hear DCP'rs saying 'what's with this fan-friendly crap' when not-so-very-long-ago the anthem here was ' why do so many corps feel the need to play obscure non-melodic literature'. If CC's is "reduced" drumcorps, I'm all for Drum Corps Lite.

  12. FWIW I had them.... 1 BD this show connects at every moment even if you dont have a clue what its really about 2 Cavies something amiss with the guard staging -- focus seemed to be always on the hornline 3 Bluecoats there's a period of 1.5 to 2 minss (right before they form the brass box and play the boxer real loud) where the show loses focus. 4. BK I saw a bigger margin between them and BAC / Gmen 5. Gmen trunks are just....distracting 6. BAC same old same old 7. Madison looks like they're trying to regain identity 8. Troop looked like they were very successfully accomplishing whats been written -- havent bitten off more than they can chew. 9. Academy (see Troop) written book too tough for these performers sorry missed everyone else sitting row 29 40 yd line

  19. You have granted him the desire of his heart and have not withheld the request of his lips. You welcomed him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. Psalm 21:2-3
  20. I think its awesome to hear this kind of stuff (especially from the music side). Guidry's writing does grow on you and I find myself listening to Xmen more and more.
  21. Being in the telecom software business for 20 years, I can't imagine why a single one of those items (except *maybe* an invalid cookie - which are actually pretty rare) would cause a video to fail to play. (Sorry I can't stand it when people spread plain old wrong information and been told these same useless thing by "support" people everywhere). While it certainly may be true that lots of internet issues are caused by bloated, poorly config'd computers, clearing your history, cache and cookies probably won't fix a darn thing (and will cause all those sites that used to work because of good cookies to fail).
