Carolina Crown 2014
Tone Quality Matters replied to crownisking's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Crown doesn't "emulate" anyone sir. Crown is Crown. -
This was an A+ panel and the scores were very consistent as a whole. I cannot believe some of you rookies are stupid enough to take on the likes of Oliviero, Hinman, Torchia and Lo. These folks are finals level judges who have done this for ages who frankly, rarely get it wrong. If they saw it and it is reflected in the score then you can take it to the bank it happened how they called it!

They are performing an amazingly difficult show, at a higher performance level each night. Everyone will be shocked with their progress the next few days! Will be so much fun to watch it happen! -

Crown is and should be very encouraged with where we are at this point. The most dangerous corps in the top five the next two weeks. Remember this post. The changes are being well received and our young people are razor focused and hungry. Whever the chips may land, they will max this show out. Side note, Coats have every reason to be encouraged too. -

Crown is staying focused and working hard every day. They have absolutely no control on the judges read other than to react to the suggestions being made, if any, to the show itself. At this point every corps is ALL IN on concept and design. Tweaks can and will take place. The numbers will be where they lay. Numbers have been inconsistent at the non-regional shows all year for several corps in 2014. For one to think that Crown has thrown in the towel or should do so would be nutts. Crown has arguably done the last two weeks of tour better than anyone the past several years, cleaning and surging so I say stay tuned. I have 100% confidence in the kids and the staff that they will max this show out. Regardless of where it stands in the end!!! Wishing every corps a safe and strong last two weeks of the summer! #ootw #CrownBrass #spacepantsband- 123 replies

Me thinks that scores will come back to earth in Atlanta. Stranger things have happened though. -
Dallas Lake Highlands Show

Actually, I think that is likely. Crossmen show has more depth and room to achieve. One of my favorite shows this summer -

Very encouraged with the GE scores for Crown, and restablishing themselves in both music captions. Changes are begining to work. Keep pushing team!! -

Sure, yeah. Whatever. I was joking around. Coats show is one big we've got spirit chant. I was pointing out the obvious. It is well established by now that Coats have spirit -

Crown has an incredibly demanding show, physically demanding, insane exposure to error. Mentally taxing. Crown is not finished despite many who are forecasting their demize. How can anyone count a corps out that has proven itself to never give up or quit. Amazing, talented young people with big hearts. Fantastic staff that knows how to get things done. Wherever the cards lay in the end, Crown will give their best effort all the way to the finish line. It is the same with any sport. Michael Jordan spoke of it. Jimmy Johnson in Nascar spoke of it. It is incredibly difficult to defend a title. Your biggest competitor is yourself. -
First, OP, I see that you are a alumn or so you say you are an alumn of Bluecoats from 02' & 03'. It is hard to tell on DCP these days with so many arm chair wanna bes with opinions and trolls who have never marched. I have the utmost respect for the Bluecoats organization and certainly wouldn't begin a title of my blog entry, referring to that fine organization as "A bad era of disco". A few key points if I may. 1) Crown and Bluecoats staffs have a great deal of respect for each other on a personal and professional level and have the utmost respect for each others organizations. In fact, some of the Coats staff stuck around on the sideline in Houston right next to me, grooving and digging what Crown had going on during their show. I imagine if those staff members thought it were "Bad Disco" then they certainly wouldn't have been genuinely excited from what they were seeing and hearing. It was awesome to watch the kids from the Coats and Crown interact with each other, and tell each other how much they like each others shows. This is how it REALLY is out there. 2) Crown was indeed a trendsetter with electronics and voice and unashamed. Your corps has embraced these same type of electronics and is having a successful summer with them. A very entertaining show I might add. These same innovations that you describe as "Bad Disco" 3) I have seen more innovation than ever this summer. So many entertaining shows. I am not the only one that feels this way. The reaction in the stands from folks of all ages, tell me that people are filling the stands to be entertained and that is exactly what is happening. So what was your purpose to even post today? To draw the ire of Crown fans? To cause controversy? All I see here is a contradictory group of opinions rehashed and recycled from the same swan songs. Good thing is I see fans happily cheering for Coats and for Crown.

My quick rant on DCI and Fan Network. You are losing fans quickly with the FN. You came out and argued that you increased the capabilities of the FN, yet you struggled to maintain a consistent SD feed tonight. It is time to either get in this thing all in, pay someone else to do it, or get out of it completely. No excuse for this kind of performance with the technology at one's fingertips today. If you plan to continue down this path, I would like my money back now -

Then you clearly haven't seen Crown's show this summer. Or BK. Or Madison. Or BAC. Etc.... -

Have you listened to both corps live, at the same show? I like Coats show but there is no comparison in quality of sound between Crown and Coats. -

My feed has glitched in 2 second intervals, three or four tines with about a 1/2 dozen or so corps. Ohterwise I have been lucky enough to keep the HD HC feed rolling all evening -
