nummy1 replied to Phantom&Phitch's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I vote for Star 93 ;-) -
I got an 80... The two corps you got got wrong were Boston... (the clip was from 2002) and Cadets... (also from 2002).... I marched that year, so please don't question me ;-)

Drum Corps: Performance or Education?
nummy1 replied to MichaelG's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think most corps put the emphasis on performing... BUT from that, the musicians LEARN all of the techniques of teaching, so they bring it back to their ensembles back home.... So, corps can focus on performing, but the majority will get the education aspect out of it... -
I was glad that I waited till i was 18 and graduated high school... with that you have PLENTY of time to march future years... i wouldn't want my 15 year old on one of those busses ;)

Who would love the Cadets again?
nummy1 replied to BozzlyB's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I am with you... I am not the biggest Cadets fan, or even the smallest Cadets fan ;) but i do appreciate a good show as much as the next guy... I think the Cadets should do what they do best, put on a cheesy stereotypical show that the crowds love... just to win over the fans again -
Just gonna list one.... Phantom '93... The Fire of Eternal Glory... During the climax of the piece

Helping Other Corps
nummy1 replied to CourtOfHonorMember's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
i understand your director... you need to support the other corps when you AREN'T marching for other corps... i actually wore a Troopers shirt when i was with the Crossmen... but kinda rude to wear other corps stuff... -
I NEVER drank soda during tour... too much salt and sugar... dehydrates your body much faster... use common sense
-
I agree... '92 was an awesome year for Drum Corps... top to bottom, there were very good programs...
-
not a big fan of the Cadets uniform...
-
Thought the Dynastys were only 26 pounds?
-
The 4 valve tubas weight about 26 pounds... thats probably the max you will find in marching tubas.

Drum Corps Technique DVD
nummy1 replied to CourtOfHonorMember's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I would LOVE a DVD that shows the OVERALL marching technique of a good drum corps... showing what the corps does during visual basics... going through all the marching excersises... is there anything out there like this? -
Probably about the 10th time someone brought this up... Someone just do it!!!!

Drum corps tunes at my wedding
nummy1 replied to bobchilds's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It would resonate more in a BIG chapel... lets not forget the laws of physics now ;) -
Lots of groups require the use of Conn Hellebergs... But sometimes i'd just like to use my own mouthpiece

nummy1 replied to euphonium96's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Those are clever... but Boston has Black plumes... they would never go with white... looks good though :) -
hey, i watch the big guy pulling the semi :-p
-
thats why i said there are reasons... if you march finals... (or whatever the last show is) then you obviously age-out... use your common sense dude...
