  1. A little behind here but PR's guard rocked my world, beautiful flags.
  2. I think it is, I turned my volume down. Does your feed blur every now and then or are my eyes going crazy?
  3. Loving the Colts. So proud of them all. Way to go...
  4. I couldn't be more proud, you have no idea. And congrats to you, Dad.
  5. The Colts are becoming stallions! So proud they're holding in there and I'm really loving the recaps. Keep it up Colts. "Field of Dreams"
  6. Absolutely, love to see them all, live and on Fan Network. I get to DATR every year, try to get to San Antonio and if lucky enough to Lucas~
  7. Looks like people are getting a little concerned that a corps can move up the line. Humm...one picture does a show make? Yup, that's it, look at that picture, they're all over the place! How quick some are to shove a corps down. However, in visual recaps I notice there is not too much of a gap; I still wouldn't kick the Colts out yet, I think it says a lot they've kept up in Visual. It obvious there is a failure stigma among some that believe getting a score below or near the Colts is a horrible thing, I mean after all the are just THE COLTS a lowly corps that will never amount to anything, pssh. Strange, when reading through this tread the Colts are barely mentioned, other than a sigh of relief that a corps beat them tonight. There's really no critique other than a picture. They don't have cooties and I think it's a bit unfair, as I mentioned in another thread, they're being judged by some on DCP more as the corps no one wants to lose to because it would be REALLY embarrassing, horrible, absolutely a disgrace! I'm proud they've kept up visually, looking back over the years does anyone remember Carolina Crown, they reorganized and look at them now, the Blue Knights didn't even make it into finals in 2001 and the Cavaliers broke the DCI first place record in 2002, things change.
  8. People on here are saying the Colts aren't doing a good job and there is no way they can be as close to Spirit, I beg to differ. I think a lot of the grumbling is name based and a lot are thinking, "No, way the Colts are getting those scores." THE COLTS, pssh. The Spirit show is good don't get me wrong but their lack of color guard integration stands out. They are either in the front, back or side. This is causing visual problems for them. They are, for most of the show, doing their work in front of the corps, it's as if there are two different things going on, color guard and the corps each doing their own thing. We'll see in the future but there is no denying the Colts are hitting it visually and I don't think this consistency in their visual scores is because the judges are all screwed up! If you look at the recaps they are rising and keeping up, it's not a coincidence nor is it random. I don't think they're bribing anyone for their visual scores. The fact is, the mind set is the Colts shouldn't be able to rise because the past few years they failed to rise consistently. You can't judge from the past what is happening right now. This corps has what it takes and a new staff that can take them quite possibly to finals, crossing my fingers. It's in the numbers, check out all of the recaps of their shows, it's there.
  9. The Colts keeping strong in Visual! Way to go, Colts!
  10. Very true. When performers come to Denver to do concerts they always have oxygen just off the stage. At concerts the performers have someone in the band take the center stage as another member walks off stage to get air and water, it is brutal on them. Not only do you have the altitude but the air is dry too, so while your gasping for air your mouth gets completely dried out.
  11. A big shout out to the "Colts" taking 3rd in Visual!
  12. Lucky SCV got a free day in Aspen today on their way to DATR. Can't wait to see the show tomorrow night, meeting up with some friends and being totally entertained.
  13. I wouldn't count out the "Colts" just yet. Their "recaps" are showing some real improvement and they could just move it up.
  14. Thank you for asking about the Colts, one would think they weren't at the show. What about those “Colts”? I find them consistently getting higher scores in General Effect Visual, third this show and they got second in Visual Analysis. Not too shabby. They’re not mentioned anywhere, those are some fine scores. The corps members are young and the staff is changing some of their teaching methods. I’ve said it before, “Don’t forget the Colts they’re going to grow and be comfortable with their show.” The visual scores are definitely there and have been holding steady. I find it sad that corps like the Colts and Troopers are being dismissed as if they weren’t even on the field tonight. Why should they show up when they’re not worth a second thought by many on here. Very sad!
  15. You'll be seeing some changes coming up so I wouldn't count the "Colts" of this race, their Visual is staying with the pack full throttle. It's a young corps; I think they're going to start putting it all together.
  16. The Colts got 4th in General Effect - Visual and 5th in Visual Analysis and although overall they came in 6th, I wouldn't toss the Colts aside just yet.
  17. I've flown into San Antonio alone twice. I learned I had to drink lots of water as I almost melted from the heat and humidity. I met some people while in the stands watching practice but had to cut that short because of heat. The River Walk was fun and being alone didn't bother me too much. In San Antonio most corps have a "free day" on Sunday so if your going to see a person performing you can hang out. I've been to Clovis, Stanford and Stockton performances alone but was delighted to meet several people from DCP at each show. The corps had a free day in San Francisco and that was a blast. I went to finals in Wisconsin alone in 1999 and that was the best. I tried to get to as many of the different corps practices in the time I was there. It was beautiful country, the corps were great and I had a good time. Don't worry about going alone it does have its perks. There will be a lot of people in San Antonio this year, we're going again and I'm sure many from this board are going. Try to meet up with someone for dinner or a drink it's fun meeting people in person.
  18. I agree with you 100%. I have my personal criteria when judging a corps, I get goose bumps, cry or just stare in amazement and enjoy the shows. When "Drums Along the Rockies" comes to town I always try to find people who have never been to a show to come along. I have such pride in the sport and love to share it. No one has ever left there with any regret to the money they've spent and they see every show as pure, without any prejudice. Watching my kids go through drum corps and being on DCP has made me a bit critical when watching. I guess that's' why I enjoy our home show so much, it's hard to be critical when you watch other people discover drum corps for the first time, it keeps it in perspective.
  19. From the other Paw-Paw Thread: Some random twitter stuff as I can't seem to leave the computer tonight until I get scores...(Ignore the times, I was lazy and copy-pasted from another source...) Not much posted for Paw Paw, but Twitter has a bunch of stuff from Cincinatii. I better figure out twitter or posting on DCP from my not-very-smart-phone before the Mankato show on Monday :) (Also, typing "Legends" into twitter and hoping for drum corps info is less then successful) Barbara Wendt Colts Ticket Manager/Office Admin, Dubuque IA Govies 1996 Gulf Coast Sound 2005-2009 Percussion/BOD
