  1. Yeah, unfortunately the "DCI Houston" show is 70 miles away from my house that's in the Houston city limits. Gonna love that traffic two days in a row.
  2. another thing I didn't understand is the video quality, especially from the high cam. It looks like it came from a cell phone camera. If your cameras can shoot widescreen how is the quality that bad?
  3. The amount of space needed for audio commentary tracks is tiny. I can understand taking out other angles while adding widescreen but there's no reason not to have commentaries imo.
  4. something I've always wondered about... this isn't a criticism, just always wanted to know why the ballad was referred to as Agnus Dei rather than Adagio for Strings? I realize it was set to the Agnus Dei text, just thought it was odd to see that in the program.
  5. double up! - when there's not enough showers... throw babies - you're that good upinya - some midwestern thing
  6. Bluecoats version was my favorite ballad of 2002.
  7. I voted 2001. Great Phantom show that year, and Glassmen had possibly the best soloist I've heard this century. Standing-O in the ballad!
  8. beginning of Act II, Scene 4 (wikipedia)
  9. pretty sure INT did that piece a few years ago... or maybe that was this year?
  10. I really enjoyed having full retreat at (almost) every show of the year. It was always a good opportunity to unwind, talk to friends in other corps and marvel at the Troopers' horn ripples. The simple solution is to reintroduce full retreat for all the major shows. That gives everyone a chance to learn the tune a little before finals and lets the rookies know what to expect. How many corps roll out early? I've been to the San Antonio show the past few years and most of the corps that didn't even make the night show are still in the lot for a while after the finals encore.
  11. an earlier post referenced corps not bringing attention to themselves during retreat: I never really thought of it as disrespectful but it definitely caught my eye. If I recall the guard work continued all through the score announcements.
  12. where did I say it was? You didn't really answer the question though :(
