  1. Two years ago when it was on FLO it looked like snow, was waiting for The Chiefs to come out and kick butt. There was no drill to speak of resembled ice skaters randomly circling the rink. Thinking there is no way this is going to catch on. Also, the efforts put forth by the staff/volunteers to get this on & off the field is crazy. They were no spring chickens felt bad for them.
  2. Right there with you back in the G days late for a show no time to save just sit in the front row with you eares cupped so you don't get a whitwall. I have no idea why folks still do that today whitwalls are back in.
  3. So true none of my memories of great shows involves props. The reason I sit very low on the fifty is not to get closer to the props. I sometimes close my eyes to keep the visual out. That's what I tell my wife anyway so she doesn't think I am sleeping during boring shows, sort of like posting in church.
  4. Well there was no monitory damage. OC had contracts with the Drum Majors only. That I am sure their initial fees would be returned if they even paid yet. By doing this now avoids financial loss, unlike other corps that folded where monitory damages did occur. So they were deprived of marching OC in 2019 and want to sue, that's a stretch marching OC is not a legal right. May be PTSD where does this go?
  5. If I have this correct the case is about completed tours where OC did not exhibit adequate Health & Safety measures and it resulted in a breach of contract. That Stevens and other off the field issues affected the MM's and staff. So much that they believe they can meet the burden of truth necessary for a civil suit. Lawyers look to expand liability to the deepest pockets one of those off the field issues would be looking to Pro Mart into what kind of message are they still sending. Sticks & Stones may break your bones but Pro Mart endorsements may jeopardize your kid.
  6. I did and I do apologize to Leigh, but the point still stands the only endorsement that I am concerned about is Mike Stevens and they are still for sale today. Am I the only one that finds this questionable. What kind of message this sends? Hurry site says only six sets left (more on the way). Better grab a set now so when dci is next to the dinos at your local museum you have something pertinent to donate. https://www.amazon.com/Promark-Stevens-TS7-Tenor-Stick/dp/B000EENM9S
  7. Good research maybe Leigh deserves his full name on the mallets.
  8. On a search on Vic Firth Stevens comes up in the 2-23-15 series 18 podcast which is unavailable today. Read into it want you want looks like Vic Firth is doing the right thing and Pro Mart as well. I initially found the Stevens mallet on the Musicians Friend site and associated it with Pro Mart their site may have erased him as well. My point is I am surprised there was still anything professionally associating him with sticks. He as a heralded member of his profession abused his mentor status in the most horrible way. I don't know who he made his deal with? Malletech is the common dominator. Providing his sticks to the fine young ladies that play these instruments today in any musical environment is a mockery to all that is right in this world. Giff Howarth 4 Mallet Lesson Series 18: A Wrap Up of the Stevens Approach February 23, 2015
  9. Malletech Stevens Marimba Mallets Set of 4 (2 Matched Pairs) I have not idea if this is the same Stevens, out there available online.
  10. Yes, I mention Pro Mart because of the endorsement, It was the first time I heard of a drum corps endorsement on anything and under different circumstances, it would be a great thing. Now that individual has abused his endorsement making it tougher for others in the activity to get one. There is all kinds of damage here all pointed at one culprit. Who abused his status for his own perversion while professionally pledging himself to a higher standard that he breached. I don't know are Stevens Sticks still available? Was there any reaction at all from Pro Mart?
  11. Agreed lawyers look for any loophole they can to expand liability. Does Pro Mark have any exposure due to the endorsement? I am not out to get Pro Mart. I don't hate drum companies this is nothing personal, just a question. Did Pro Mart ever make a public statement removing his name from the stick dissociating themselves from Stevens? On the other hand, does Pro Mart have a case against Stevens for breach of contract? Lawsuits concerning endorsements happen all the time, these individuals put themselves on pedestals and are by contract expected to maintain the very highest moral standards. When they abuse their influence on devious acts there is a higher price to pay.
  12. This assumes nothing changes in 2020. When I first read this I totally missed the 2020. Even called a friend told them they were coming this year, but it says 2020.
  13. Could a hypotherical case be made by OC affected individuals against Stevens? Why was his social footprint so clean? Then expand the suit to Pro Mark or who ever placed his name on their stick. They for their own reputation sake must have of looked into his background did they know and let him on the sticks anyway, I don't think so.. Or did Stevens himself scrub his digital footprint for endorsement (had a lot at stake)? In that case can Pro Mark sue him as well? Since this is hypotherical please hold back what you think of me. As far as suing OC can't they just claim there was not enough interest struggling to reach 100 members? That they reacted to the Stevens situation rebulit their staff. Then did hold a few camps, named drum majors but stopped short of contracts or collecting tour fees?
  14. I read where they were struggling to get 100 members may be that is not enough to fund a coast to coast tour anymore. It was a gallant effort on their part, hope to welcome them back soon. Better now than figuring this out in April like what happened to Magic back around 2001. Now some of the MMs are seeking out The Cascades or Troopers I think BK has a full corp. Then there are a number of OC corps out west. We have to give the MMs credit jumping from corps to like they are right around the corner. In my day I had 4 corps to choose from and my commute was the same distance just in another direction, now it could be 2 or 3 states away just a walk in the park for them.
  15. We have been following OC pretty close I didn't see it coming was encouraged. They put their staff back together. Announced their drum majors and held a few camps. Then this at the close of the meetings does anybody think dci had their hand in this with the timing and all? How can Stevens one man cause all this damage or is there more to it?
  16. Hi BRASSO, Your right OC had promise but they have gone inactive before and always came back stronger. Now they have a stronger, more aware dci by working together things should come back together for them. Dci makes two steps forward with MC & Genesis moving up then two unfortunate steps back. Dci has been there before with corps going inactive for mostly financial reasons, dci worked with them created Sound Sport and new teams and old corps found a way back. Now Guardians and may be Arsenal joined Open Class. Now dci is faced with these new challenges and are addressing them in their own way. We may criticize their resolve and want more. However, the 2019 Season is coming together so we need to patient and let the process work. imo
  17. Here is some positive meeting news from the Director Of Shadow it looks legit. [–]ShadowDBC_RCA [score hidden] 38 minutes ago Hello! Female corps director here. If anyone ever needs help in terms of reporting at any time, I am here for you. There are plenty of women and male allies willing to help if we know what we need to help with. DCI seems ready to listen and to act, based on what I observed this past weekend. permalink embed save parent report reply [–]ShadowDBC_RCA [score hidden] 34 minutes ago Pioneer’s suspension and revocation of membership are an example of their desire to take action. This weekend’s summit being based 100% around member safety, health, and wellness is an example of their desire to take action. I left there feeling amazing about the future of DCI. Every DCI member corps is now required to have someone with some type of medical certification with them at all times. Those people are mandated reporters, further increasing member safety. I am EXCITED that the ball is rolling. Help this change in our community gain momentum by supporting it!
  18. Right, this is the second year that I have seen O'Fallon use their white tarp. Yesterday Arrowhead had a nice tarp over the field may be a corps could use it over the summer.
  19. I hear you Barneveld, no need for a thread about getting hosed by dci, I get the point it is not new news. Know we can focus on bashing George something that will sure help straighten out dci, something worthwhile.
  20. Not true you are drinking dci's kool-ade. If that were the case all other drum corps, band, and alumni-related originations, show bands, the mummers would be forced to do that, they aren't forced and they don't police YT. It is a business decision on behalf of dci to keep the MMs paying for content that they paid for and were part of latter in life if they do decide to go there. How do you explain Calgary, for example, they get a license produce media performed at dci but they don't deny access to YT? No other youth-originations police the net. The NY Yankees are not all over Biilsport making sure the Little League does not affect their bottom line and the original artists aren't either. We have been misled for a long time dci is being exposed on all levels.
  21. YT posts are post-licensing, dci takes it upon themselves to police the internet for their own profit. The original artists are not passing the buck to dci to watch their back. DCE does not do that, whatever the new org Jubal is in does not do that. Alumni shows do not need to worry about the original artists they are playing the same music as dci. Corps and band music at the Rose Fest does not have the original artists breathing down their backs to take the content off of YT. Disney is not taking down Corps and Bands that performed in their parks. The original artist excuse is a diversion no reason video clips of one's child playing in an NFL stadium can't be a valued keepsake. Why would the original artists care about that? Dci is about dci they don't care enough for their own marching members to do the right thing to keep the kids safe. No wonder they blame things on the original artists it's all about them.
  22. This is huge coming from you. If there were such a rating you are at the other end we are already being measured by the number of posts vs positive comments. You, George, are a superstar a +1000% batting average. I am batting 405 while some of my critics are batting in the low 100s, go figure. Regardless DCP is a fun and enlightening place, but like I say we are all being monitored one way or the other.
  23. Nailed it we are dealing with GH and anything is possible. The last thing drum corps needs going into 2019 is GH being perped walked in and out of court on TV every day over a long trial. That will definitely hurt housing around Allentown and maybe elsewhere if it lands up on the news wires in other markets (Indy Star). Since it's pitting it right in the School Administrators face giving them the justification they need to fight the band directors on housing. It is in the best interest of anyone who loves drum corps for this to go away. However, we are not the survivors they deserve justice. Their opinions/ feelings are what counts I am with them justice first or go away whatever they feel is best I stand with them.
  24. It's a much sought after title on DCP. I don't think you are in the running so you better step up your game.
  25. I am the dumb one here so disregard anything I say. George not showing up for prelims is limiting open discovery that aids the defense so now the DA just needs to hide their intentions within the discovery documents and does not need to explain themselves at this stage in the proceedings. It puts his defense, on the defensive, his lawyer saying they are going to trial could be a ploy to get the best plea deal. The DA is weighing out their options. Do they have a slam dunk case or are they risking a costly trial just to lose by offering a better plea deal? I don't think any of us know and his lawyer has the right to change his intentions at will, going to trial today or taking a plea deal tomorrow.
