  1. Yea, but that doesn't classify as cheerleading does it? I would love to see some guard doing that stuff. The Cadet's got kinda gutsy jumping off tables. Imagine if they had been jumping off tables doing double backflips and landing one armed someone's head? I think it would rock.
  2. Aren't the Cadet's tunes public yet? I thought they had announced all of their show.
  3. If he comes with his own carrying case, I'm in for three.
  4. Shoot, teach a whole corps to do this, and then think of how much money you would save if you didn't have to buy instruments. You'd just spend a fortune on mikes...
  5. Sound at my theater was deafening. In other words, just right. On the other hand, the screen wasn't fully implemented. While it was widescreen, there was a lot of empty space around the edges that could have been filled. I don't know if that is just because of the projector set-up or what, but it is what I would want to see improved.
  6. For the record, there were only 8 shows, and while there was no intermission, I thought it was very reasonable, I was home at 9:30. I didn't mind the choices at all, but I was very much surprised. My theory on the '06 shows was that a lot of people new to the whole drum corps thing would identify with the more recent shows over the older shows that vets consider the true "classics". So they pick the ones they recognized, and then they just fill out the other few spots they had with random shows that sound cool. At the end of the day, it is one more example of statistics. At the least, it was loud!
  7. All hail mighty cymbal lines! I think I would make frequent use of an option on the DVD's to follow just the cymbal line... To a brass player like me, the shiny metal is hypnotizing, mesmerizing, and...and...YES...I WILL MASTER...LONG LIVE SCV...
  8. "Hi I'm Bob Sagacious, and I'm a member of the *insert corps name here*. I just found out from our director that we will be using amplification this year in our show entitled 'The Birds and the Bees' featuring all the best songs of the 5.6.7.8's which hasn't been publicly announced. And he is letting me sing the solo! I'm so excited. Just don't tell anyone that will get upset with my director. He might get angry with me!" I think that gag orders are fine.
  9. Haha, I definitely laughed. Too bad they have to be so crazy like that, eh?
  10. Wow, that sounds really cool. Definitely checking it out.
  11. Ah, you beat me to it. I guess they thought they would be clever and outwit you fiends with your mad Ctrl+F skills :P by using a graphic. I really don't think the name matters though. Not when I'm standing up screaming my head off. Just my .02
  12. Hey, they are new to me! The fight scene is what made me go wow. Cadet's are still better...
  13. Aww man, I knew I should have put money on phantom earlier. Oh well... :P PR ftw!!!
  14. Oh c'mon, the post obviously talks about marching. Just because you can't march guitar doesn't mean you have to be so jealous. :P But seriously, what the heck does guitar have to do with a drum and bugle corps?
  15. Vote for who we want to win, and PR for the win!!!
  16. It is the only place where throwing babies is appropriate. :P Honestly though, if you are on these forums, you know that it escapes words...for me it does anyway.
  17. Woohoo!!!!! Awesome arrangement seems to be the general agreement. And how 'bout that sop solo, eh? My only worry is that there are a lot of very convenient voice breaks in there. I suppose it could be filled with some nice percussion...but for now I'm going to enjoy it as it is. ...and it is sweet.
  18. The nice thing about doing movie soundtracks, is a lot of people are going to be more familiar with the theme, usually. True, you could use some unknown B movie that no one saw, but I think that more people recognized music from The Godfather than will recognize say, Shades of Blue, this year. And having a theme you can recognize and relate to goes a long way. So yes, yes, yes is my vote!!!
  19. True, true. But if you want to get technical, we know all the ones in between, too.
  20. Trombones sound better. But it is true they are harder to march with. So for now, the switch to bari for marching season must happen. But let me remind you, trombones do it in all the positions. :P
  21. Can anyone explain why it fits in as "parts and the whole"? Maybe a stupid question, but I'm not familiar with the piece.
