  1. Lighten up bro. It's not THAT serious. MAN do I wish you had the opportunity to march.
  2. And I don't think there's a need to get all bent out-of-shape over a name change either, but you see people doing that. Just saying.
  3. Thanks AGAIN, for clearing that up for me. I really do appreciate what you have to say day in and day out.
  4. I don't remember saying people were petty because they voiced thier opinion. Regardless of The Cadets potentially putting out a kick-### show, are you telling me that just because they changed a name that you would not buy anything from them even if you LOVED their show? THAT, my friend, is what I think is petty about it. But you are right. People are entitled to their opinions as well as I am entitled to mine. Maybe I should ask Hoppy how souvie sales have been since 2000 when most of his controversy started.
  5. Yeah but I don't see them whipping The Cadets this year either. The Cadets usually bounce back. We'll see what happens though. I hope Bluecoats don't get lower than sixth this year, but they are among the big boys and I don't think the other big boys will stand by and let that happen again.
  6. Oh, well maybe George should just give up right now I guess. What would you suggest he do then? Or if you could have your way, what would you like it to be called (since most corps no longer use bugles)?
  7. Thanks for the note Mr. Nitpicky. Is that spelled right?
  8. The Cadets didn't say they were giving up drum corps. They are still a drum corps. Just because there's a name change doesn't mean they are leaving DCI. Time will tell.
  9. I thought I was the only one who loved that line, and I played trumpet during that segment. That line always gave me a rush. Otherwise, There are lots of baritone moments I love. One specifically is The Cadets 2005 in Liquid, right after that "umbrella" drill set, where the baritones are high-tailing it while playing a lot of long tones. Another is The Cadets 1998, the bell tones the baris are playing while marching that rotating box in the beginning. And let's not forget The Cavaliers 2006, in that Winton Marsalis piece. The entire song with the baris has me going crazy for them.
  10. I hope it couldn't. The Cadets have done a lot for the activity and for the lives of many who have marched there. To see them wiped off the map would be devastating, and I would hope not only to me.
  11. Are people really THAT petty as to stop buying a corps merchandise and eventually leading to the extinction of a corps? Can you even imagine Drum corps without The Cadets? I REALLY hope people are not THAT sensitive as to allow that to happen. That would really suck.
  12. OH MY GOD!!!!!! The world is about to end with Three words!!! ARE YOU GUYS SERIOUS?!!! You have nothing more significant to complain about other than three words that only TWO drum corps are using? This is rediculous. Is it like this during the season as well? I am really sure YEA is gonna miss your donations fellow "alum." Thanks for jumping on the bandwagon. By the way, which YEA corps did you march? quote name='Hrothgar15' date='Mar 12 2007, 04:07 PM' post='1778656'] I'm with you. Once the season starts, I won't discuss them (not even here ), watch their show, listen to their show, buy their APD, mention them in any show reviews, or anything, because they're not associated with the activity I love. But The/Holy Name/Garfield Cadets (of Bergen County) Drum and Bugle Corps will still always be my bar none favorite corps. Hope to see them again soon someday. You should probably relax, run some laps, or actually JOIN a drum corps or something. Seeing as how you rarely have anything nice to say about The Cadets anyway, I am sure your comments won't be missed much. Look, no matter how you slice it, The Cadets will still have great shows, they'll still win championships and they'll still entertain SOME, if not most people in the audience. I doubt a "name change" will affect how they continue to business. I can't wait for the season to start so everyone has something more significant to complain about. ....yet again, my .02 cents.....
  13. Yeah and I hated if they had lucky charms and I didn't get up in time and all they had left was raisin bran or worse, CORN FLAKES...UGGGHHH....lame.
  14. THE SHOW MOST DEFINITELY!!!! Second poll is ensemble - It's great because usually it's usually later in the day and not so hot out (on non-show days) and the entire corps is on the field.
  15. The Cadets (who else!!!), well all except 2003, 2004 and 2006. 2007 will be my MOST FAVORITE!!! ....just my .02 cents, again.....
  16. Song/show, whatever. They still shouldn't be played again. And I don't think it'll be hard for The Cadets to match or even top SCV's version of Blue Shades either.
  17. CAVALIERS, most definitely. I love them (second to The Cadets, of course).
  18. How about Cadets 1998 - Stonehenge. I don't think ANY OTHER corps should try to bring that back. That show seemed as if it were commissioned only for The Cadets. Cadets 1997 - Music of Phillip Sparke. I heard some other corps played the opener of that recently but I am not sure who. The music and the drill just fit The Cadets perfectly and I don't think that should be brought back. Cavaliers 2006 - Machine. The name says it all. Blue Devils 1996 - Club Blue... That show is Blue Devils all the way. Should never be brought back. That's all for now I think.
  19. I can't believe some of you are actually shocked by this. Contrary to popular belief, George Hopkins is a great man. This just goes to show that.
  20. Speak for yourself buddy. While I appreciate the fact that 220 bpm is not really that challenging, and this was because I played trumpet, think about the guys who are much bigger and have bigger instruments. Just because you had an easy time marching that fast doesn't mean everyone else did. Also, I appreciate a lot of Cavaliers shows especially when they choose to just march a difficult drill move instead of both marching and playing through it, but lets look back to some of The Cadets' moves, and you will see that they march and play throughout the majority of them. This is not meant to bag on Cavaliers, but to point out that Cadets are just as challenging. ...yeah, my .02 cents....
  21. Wooooooowww. I am really amazed at this thread. I can't believe it's gotten this serious. I love Jolly Ranchers and if I had gotten one thrown at me and I wasn't in The Cadets at the time, I probably would have picked it up and eaten it. I don't remember seeing that happen when we were in retreat next to the Cavies in 99 or 2000. But anyways, every corps has its tradition. I guess the only thing we have to do is respect it. I doubt by complaining about it that it'll make the corps director change the way they do retreat. I am pretty sure they have more important things to worry about, like perhaps rehearsal for the next show. I love drum corps, regardless of how unclassy, unprofessional, militaristic, strict, or funny they act during retreats. Just have a GREAT show!!!! ....as usual..my .02 cents....
  22. I was being sarcastic Sam. We all know that move was pretty hard when we learned it. And I know you Tubas had it pretty bad. Everytime I watch that move I always look at the tubas. You guys amazed me sometimes.
