the difference is in what the members go through in getting to their last show, putting the final product on the field. not in what the final product is. or you could say drum corps died somewhere between 15-30 years ago.

back to the original topic... i've seen judges pick up dropped mouthpieces/pieces of a horn, and hand it to a player if they lost it at a halt or something. that's kind of nice, even though most of the time it's the player's fault.

i really have no idea what to say, being as i've never conducted. i just felt like the thread needed a little spicing up. it seems to be one of the few non-hostile ones on here, and i couldn't let that just pass by.

my corps doesn't allow us to go swimming...but that'd be my vote if i could

My rookie year I actually marched with this guy who was a student teacher in the next town over, as well as the best friend of the student teacher at my school. That's just as weird as some friends who were teched (in h.s.) by people who they were rookies with.

I'm so happy it didn't pass. I know that if I was given the option to march one more year, I would, even though I really shouldn't. My mind and body are going to be shot by the time I age out as it is, much less I'll be poor and probably running into some issue with school and such.Everything would tell me I shouldn't march that 7th year, but my emotions would probably get the best of me and I doubt I'd finish the season intact.

Drum corps became marching band when they began to play instruments? Now I say marching band as in the form that high schools and colleges use, not in the form that drum corps is. but... since when has marching band given the marcher the same family and bonds as drum corps? since when has marching band contained a group of 135 (150 next year...) individuals that shared the same amount of determination and passion for something?

Don't think about the tough move 5 sets from now. Think about what you're supposed to be doing that exact moment.

I'd just like to say thanks to anyone who has posted on this thread. Very soon I'll be applying for financial aid, and I had no idea that it was this..insane...

aw i love whitacre. sweet.

at my corps, if someone does that, there is a sudden break out of "shut the **** up" in the gym, pretty much in unison from the corps, and objects (such as shoes) are likely to be thrown. needless to say that person doesn't use their mattress that night.

i've heard that using any shiny/mirrored part of your uniform (shako mirror, buckle, ect.) as an actual mirror is bad luck.

i really liked their show but seeing the capes from far away reminded me that i hadn't read/seen the new harry potter book/movie, and that just disappointed me haha...

i've never seen a commercial, or heard of those before... but they seem kind of creepy...
