Hey Frank, I hear ya! But, in addition to your input, and understanding the original post.....I believe there is something not being mentioned (besides the name of the organization...which is cool) that is not being said which is "Just why in the H isn't the correct decisions being made in a timely fashion, and why would administrations allow the Kids to get beat up on week to week, and humilated, possibly suffer emotional trauma, hate their Drum Corps experience, deplete their already fragile self esteem because the administration FAILED to be prepared, or to make the appropreiate decision to scrap their present season as they are well behind the eight ball. The kids well being besides opportunity to excel should come first, organization second, as this type of decision would put all in a better position for next season ( In my opinion) ....I'll tell you what I think they wouldn't make that decision why? because the childrens humilation, emotional well being are worth sacrificing because the unit doesn't want to go through the evaluation process for next season......which they would have to do. I admire those directors, and administrators who make the tough decision by putting the kids first and the organization second, and aren't afraid to go through the rebuilding process in order to "Do it a better way" Love Drum Corps, by honoring those who make the organization exist "Members" Frank, You know me as Poo's brother (on the downlow)

Good points on the southern thought, here are some thoughts "which will probably cause a heart attack with some of the responders on this site" Less Demanding Competitive Venues" which is tailored for the entry level organizations that is financially freindly for members and star up organizations, have some regional competitions without the touring aspect attached to it. It's not just "How we encourage" (as we should do) but rather "How do we keep them once they have started". New York hasn't had a competitive unit on any level (junior) since around 2004, inwhich hopefully the process is about to change.

Never having the pleasure of meeting you or your board membership, I must say "Way to Go" in making the go forward decision to prepare more securely for the future of Fever. It is always difficult to make these types of decisions for obvious reasons, but I applaud your organizations focus. Believe me there are many organizations out there that are frighten to pull the trigger on the present situation with their corps, because they believe if they stop the bleeding now and build for the future, they will never make it out on the field again, so they continue to suffer in the silence of the night with extreme debts....which I find incredibly stupid (for the lack of a better word) Way to Go! and continued success with your strategic plans to solidify Fever.

From Herschel Vaughn via email he sent me. This is a tough one. As Frankie has stated, being at a loss for words to clearly express verbally what it is I feel is a difficult thing to do at this point. I found out the morning of and just sat at my office stunned. I put out some emails to the people that I had email addresses to. My Brother (Poo) at this moment still does not know, as I tried to contact him, this is going to hurt him deeply. Growing up in Brooklyn like George, Frankie, HB, Speedy, Bob Reynolds, Mark Riley, Keith Warfield and many many more we shared a special kinship that transends the Drum & Bugle Corps Activity, but the Drum & Bugle Corps Activity afforded us many wonderful memories, friendships and opportunities. WOW! Drummergirl, Believe me, it is always great to hear and feel the spirit of volunteerism. Your passion with wanting to help out in the Drum & Bugle Corps activity is absolutely great you can even tutor some kids from time to time, and help better prepare them for the coming year. Wow what an asset you would be. But, I just want to throw this at you for consideration as well, there many (formerly known as D2-3) lesser known Drum & Bugle Corps that could certainly use your help, as they might not have it all together yet, and you could become so vital and instrumental to "that" organization. You may say well I'll volunteer one summer and get the bug out, and find yourself so committed that you'll end up a important member of that staff administratively and or artistically. I wish you were a little closer to New York / New Jersey as I would contact you IMMEDIATELY! Drummergirl you have demonstrated the right type of spirit that we want our corpsmembers to one day do themselves. You're Awesome! Good Luck with your find!

Hey Glen, I hope all goes well in regard to the re-organizational meeting October 13th. All of us should attempt to bring or start a East Coast Drum & Bugle Corps, as once we were a proud powerful breed. Glen, is the organization attempting a return to the field in 2008, or 2009? Hey, I know you're looking for Guard members, but let me put this opportunity to tyou for perhaps one of your peers. We are establishing a Color-Guard Only training program in Brooklyn, New York and is presently looking for a technically gifted, dance orientated individual to teach. Whoever, mentioned Herman "Hy" D, thank you! Everyone that all mentioned abviously left an impact with they way they arranged. This is a good subject, as I have notice not many people have even heard of "Hy" and that's just because they weren't born yet! So if you young whippa snappers can ever get your hands on any things "HY" wrote, I promise you ..you will be amazed at his arrangement as well as the performers that played his stuff. Allot of guy's mentioned actually played under "Hy" and then can into there own. Great Stuff, Great Stuff.
