  1. George annonced yesterday that he has removed the Perccussion 2 judge prop from the running. Apparently everyone talked and things were worked out. So kumbaya.
  2. Well, one thing for sure. The mark of a true leader is if you can step away from what you've led and it still run flawlessly. I have no doubt that this will happen, especially under Bruno's leadership. The best to Jeff in his future en devours, even if it's a well deserved nothing.
  3. One more day until camp! This is gonna be a great group! Come on out even if only for a day cause you're "just curious" what I'd be like to march again, or for the first time!
  4. It's not cheap (not too pricey either), but the Hotel Contessa is absolutely amazing. I can't wait for the new Omni(?) hotel to be completed for the TMEA conference.
  5. 06 Cavaliers the "elasta-corps" section with backflip.
  6. I think in some cases, yes. That is a very good point. But not all corps are out there to "play with the big boys" because they know that that isn't realistic for them right now. So, why not put on a crowd pleasing show that builds your program so that said competition might happen one of these summers.
  7. Yes, some should be locked. Like the threads that came hours after others on the same topic.
  8. Let me break down question 3 for everyone. Yes to both: you're in fovor of both propositions that will remove both narration and amps from DC. No to both: You're not in favor of a proposal removing amps and narration from DC. Yes to amps no to narration: You want to get rid of amps but not narration. I know this one is wierd, but tech. it could be voted this way. Yes to narration no to amps: You want to get rid of narration but keep amps. Any questions?
  9. You'd be voting yes to approve of the proposal or no to disapprove of the proposal. And I know you can't have narration without amps. That's just how the rules played out and how i could fit them without having to do a 4th poll.
  10. Final selections. Hopefuly the combined amp rules won't be too confusing.
  11. Rules 1-3. Just vote up or down and feel free to explain.
  12. This poll needs to be expanded to each rule. It's very possible that a good portion of DCP both favor and disapprove of rules presented by both parties, as has been seen in comments on the rule proposals thread.
  13. My opinions on each rule: Double judges: Yes. It's wishful thinking, but maybe this will curve some people and their "so and so corps' show design was way better then so and so's". 22: Indifferent. I've aged out of the activity and am now on the staff side. I can see how this would help those music majors that age out before they've completed school. If you're into the whole "corps is a valuable learning experience thing", then this prob works for you. water: This is fine as long as there is a penalty and clean-up system in place so performers in following corps aren't hurt. I'm always in favor of expanding what can be used for the designer's toolbox. 1 extra show minute: Hell yes. Especially if it means more developement of theme, concept, or *gasp* music! amped brass: No. Just like with amps period, this can be used for good or evil. Just like an amps can be used tastefully, like to bring forward subtle and quiet rythms in the pit (like snapping fingers al la 007) or for singing (crown, cadets.) So too can amped brass. But, I think the negatives in this case far outweight the possible positives. Amped instruments should be reserved for woodwinds and BOA. electronic instruments: No. This is just a back door to woodwinds. It may be a midi synth saxophone, but a saxophone none the less. percussion 2 judge: Indifferent. sound board: hell yes. Let's face it people, amps are here to stay. So, why not get a little more balance and blend out of it. narration removal: Yes. I'm fine with narration. I'll just go get a beer. But, when wondering how narration is judged we're on slippery ground. Yes, it is general effect. But what about singing? Either define the judging or remove it all together. amplification removal: No. I believe that amplification can be a great tool for certain aspects. I say we fix what we have. Remove voice from amplification and add sound boards for balance and blend.
  14. Let's be honest about your little conspiracy theory here. If a corps can't afford or can't even get amps or 150 members, do you think those that can are worried about them in the first place? There's no rule that say you HAVE to get electronic equipment or 150 members. ####, I'd bet that fans would go nuts over a smaller, semifinals corps with traditional numbers and no electronics even on the field.
