  1. Let's not get all hot and bothered about fan reaction/attitudes too. As a Blue Devil parent, I could have lost my mind when people around me in section 639 booed when BD won. I heard some nasty comments regarding BD's win. I could have confronted them. But......I was so thrilled with the victory, no knucklehead comments were going to ruin that perfect moment. My kid has given his last 5 summers to drum corps, and Saturday nite became a World Champion(he has always been a winner in my book). In my opinion, this was one of the best years for shows in recent history. So many great shows this year I can hardly wait for the dvd. Compared to many other youth activities like football & baseball, dci fans as a group are actually pretty tame. Other fans can get ugly....really ugly. The vast majority of fans in Indy were very friendly to me both before and after finals. What a great activity! Besides, my kid gets a ring and he has yet to stop smiling.
  2. 46 here. Old enough to have had 25 years between Finals attended. 1st live Finals:1980 DCI Finals Birmingham (to see friends march in 27th Lancers) 2nd live Finals:2005 (to see son march in SPIRIT) Wow had things changed. 5 years back and still loving something about every show.
  3. Way to go BDB. Saw the show at Family Day and knew it was special. They are the real deal! Keep it going
  4. "These pretzels are making me thirsty!" $1 to Seinfield
  5. Nice...I was afraid of a rail obstructing the view but went for row 1 anyway. So instead of oxygen, I should bring a hacksaw for obstruction removal. Thanks for the info.
  6. I hope it's not too high. I am in section 640 row 1 for qtrs, section 639 row 1 for semis & section 641 row 1 for finals. Will I need oxygen ..............or a telescope?
  7. Way to go Devils! I'll admit I was a bit worried when my son told me how many folks were sick. But they were troopers....(I mean Devils) and toughed it out. Proud of them!
  8. Props have been around for years. BD is using the chairs as an aspect of their show which I think fits into both the theme(30's jazz) and as added visual tool giving a vertical dimension and obstacles to the drill. Many others have used a prop or two in recent years...... Cavies ladders in 2005 Cadet's door in 2005(yes even Cadets) Crown's fence panels in 2007(yes even Crown) Spirit's Broadway signs in 2005 SCV's disapearing Phantom in 1989 Not to mention every Bridgemen and Velvet Knights show This year the top 5 are great shows. The top 12 are really good. I for one hope that each year we as fans are this lucky. I don't care if someone rolls out a living room set if the show is good. Wait, that's been done.
  9. MMMMMM cookies. Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh. Watching the Simpson's right now.
  10. To all u Bluecoats fans/parents here...I really enjoyed the Bluecoats performance in Atlanta. Wish them the best in Indy. One of my son's friends is marching baritone there.
  11. Everyone is too busy dumping on the Blue Devils on other threads.
  12. All I know is I enjoyed the Atlanta Regional more than I have in years past and BD is a big part of the reason.
  13. Man, It seems some folks on here get more enjoyment dissing corps/shows than actually watching. If you are that bored watching ...maybe you should try Major League Baseball. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  14. Can't believe the "judges are paid" excuse is being bandied about as to the reason BD is winning. I don't recall a massive outcry last year when Phantom came back from being spanked by BD all season. Gee, BD winning 2 years in a row would not be nearly as good for DCI as the crowd favorite winning.....must be a conspiracy. It was the judge on the grassy knoll!!
  15. I was there at finals and BD earned the title. It was a great show. Cadets were also very strong. I enjoyed many of the shows.
  16. Still hoping for tweeters. Anyone going???
  17. New Blue Devil ending is "Rhapsody in Blue" from the 1930 film "King of Jazz".
  18. I live in the eastern time zone....but my son is a Blue Devil. West! West! West!
  19. BD has yet to show any sign of giving up the lead. They will continue this trend all the way to Indy and take the win.
  20. 1980-Birmingham, AL, as a fan with my high school band. 2005-Foxboro, MA, (2 see my son march in finals) 2006-Madison, WI, (2 see my son march in finals) 2007-Pasadena, CA (2 see my son march in finals) 2008-Bloomington, IN (2 see my son march in finals) 2009-Indy,IN (2 see my son win a ring...I mean march in finals) 2010-Indy, IN ( to see my son age out in finals)
  21. The Omni Severin is awesome and within walking distance to the stadium(and all the downtown bars ). We'll be there again this year.
  22. Check out the random order of appearance on dci.org for San Antonio. Troopers on 1st followed by Cavies. They can't be happy about that.
