  1. I'm glad the Blue Devils are playing the encore. Another chance to see my kid play.
  2. I'll be there! Staying at the Omni in Indy for Qtrs, Semi's & Finals. Hopefully that great martini bar is still in the lobby! Also be at Murfreesboro, Atlanta, and Charlotte. Can't wait to see my first live show of the year. Go Blue Devils & Spirit!
  3. 1980 Finals..My 1st live drum corps show and wow, what power! 2005 Finals.. My 2nd live finals(okay, my son was marching) 1984..Incredible screaming solos!
  4. Well this is my son's 4th year in DCI and he has 2 more after 2008. He marched 2005, 2006, 2007 with Spirit and now is a Blue Devil. Can't wait til they hit the south. I'm going to Murfreesboro(Friday), Atlanta(Saturday) and Charlotte(Sunday). What a weekend!
  5. I am looking forward to this bunch heading a little further east. Living in the eastern time zone ....these west coast shows are making for some interesting mornings at work. Like getting up in 5 hours..yikes!
  6. Already downloaded these 3: Blue Devils Spirit Bluecoats BD is awesome this year! Just got an email from dci telling me BD full APD was now available. I reloaded it and love the closer. Can't wait to see it live in Murfreesboro.
  7. Blue Devils The whole show has been in my head since I bought the download.
  8. Blue Devils-2007 Cavaliers-2006 Crown-2007 Phantom-2005 Spirit-2006 Cadets-2005 I too prefer the "Classic" approach for two reasons. 1)I have been lucky enough to attend finals for the last 3 years, so I saw all these live. 2)I enjoy seeing excellent moments in drum corps (and yes, some of those happened in Legacy years) Consider a Countdown of the greatest high notes featuring: Scott Dean(2000's) & Hunter Moss(1980's) etc. How about the loudest shows of all time? Greatest drum lines? What do you think?
  9. Here are a few of my favs.. SPIRIT 2003-Time(remembering greats of the past) Cavaliers 1980- Softly As I Leave You was the closer..great guard work Crossmen 1980-Great soloist.. Superman was a bit cheesy though Madison Scouts 1980-Malaguena & Through The Eyes of Love...great guard work and loud. Blue Devils 1995-Carpe Noctem...Has really grown on me over the years
  10. LOL, yeah, you would think I would know what is going on but......you know my information source went off to college and never calls his dear old dad.......unless he needs $$$ :P
  11. What he said... Spirit having their own drill writer just makes sense. I thought the change last year was very evident in what was on the field. One might say "they still finished 12th" Yes they did in one of the most competitive years in modern history. I am anxious to see what K. Nix will add to the mix visually. Also, for those connected and "in-the-know", should we expect another big announcement soon? Like before T-giving?
  12. Hmmmmmmmmm??!!??!!?? Must be patient........must be paaatient :sshh:
  13. DCI history shows that if you want a chance to win a championship, you have to be in one of 5 corps. Thus far in the decade of the 2000's-B/D,Cadets,Cavies,SCV,Phantom are the only to finish top 3. In the 90's......................................B/D,Cadets,Cavies,SCV,Phantom+ Star(gone) In the 80's......................................B/D,Cadets,Cavies,SCV,Phantom+Madison(twice)+27(gone)& Bridgemen(gone) Maybe some corps will break through that barrier. Who knows? Do what you feel is right for you. Heck with the old folks(like me) enjoy it while you can...whatever that means to you. If you strive to be your best, and you have an opportunity to march in one of those corps you should take it. Winning is not everything. But just like in the real world most of us have a job and a dream job. If you don't take the shot at the dream corps, you may look back on it with regret for the rest of your life. Steps off soap box.... Proud parent of my div 1 kid(no matter what uniform he wears this season)
  14. Do Div. I staffs actually make attempts during the off season to keep connected with veteran members to increase the return rate? So many people seem to have trouble with kids moving on to other corps, but I wonder how often is it due to staff changes?
  15. I guess we will hear the rest of the staff announcements soon since they have auditions in 2 weeks. I'll admit I have been impressed with the staff they have put together so far. Looking forward to hearing what they have planned for 2008.
  16. I too am excited about the prospects of these staff additions. Freddie Martin.....the man behind many of Spirit of Atlanta's most famous shows. Scott Boerma.....the man behind many of Madison's most fan friendly and famous shows. I would like nothing better than to re-live the wall of sound from the late 70's early 80's. Pin my ears back. (shatter a few press box windows even :P ) There have been hints of that for the last two years so I know it's possible. Any idea when they will announce the rest of the brass staff? Fan of the Baby Blue
  17. Ray Vasquez was with SCV last year also. He was at SPIRIT from JSU in 2006. However you are correct in that he is both a phenominal performer and teacher. The kids are crazy about him & learn a lot everywhere he goes. Best of luck to him and the rest of the staff in 2008.
  18. Soon today? Soon next week? Inquiring minds want to know!
  19. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Do you happen to have the MegaMillions numbers for Friday nite too? How about over/under on Georgia vs Alabama? Why post here that you have info but can't share it until the Corps make an official release? Come on...give me something I can use. Don't tease me.
  20. The baritone solo and soprano duet in 1980 Blue Devils "La Suerte de Los Tontos" (awesome) Spirit of Atlanta 1984 (Hunter's screaming soprano solos....just wow) Spirit from JSU 2007 "Hide & Seek" when the corps retreats to the corner and sings (just beautiful) Bridgemen 1977 "Pagliacci" soprano solo.....what a screamer! And when I need to think LOUD!!!! Madison Scouts 1980 "Ice Castles" Spirit of Atlanta 1980 "Let it be me"
  21. Yessir a big CONGRATS to all the members and staff for a job well done. This was a very competitive year and 10-17 was extremely close all season. Semifinals 2007 may be one of the best Semis ever top to bottom with a strong Blue Stars performance and the up and coming Academy. Making the cut into Finals this year is really an accomplishment. Spirit may seem to not get the "love" that many other corps get here on dcp. Finals 3 years in a row, 5 of the last 6, and 17 times in corps history tells me you are doing something right. Keep up the good work......looking forward to next season! Fan Supporter Dad :)
  22. I too find those two scores a bit wacky. Spirit's 14.8 is their lowest brass score since 6/30 (14.5). The Blue Stars 15.3 in Ensemble Music is their lowest score since 7/16. Perhaps they both had bad nite in those areas. Maybe everyone else had a great nite in those areas. I will probably ignore those and hope they will never resurface. Both these corps are better than those scores indicate. IMHO
