And the floodgates are opening
Newseditor44 replied to Jeff Ream's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Maybe it doesn’t deserve to be recreated. The fact that this question is even asked is disgusting. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING should ever come before the well-being of a person or group of people, especially a young person who has been sexually assaulted. If DCI can’t lead responsibly, they don’t deserve to be around. Period. Having a backup plan to start a new orginzation is the least of my concerns. -

This. All Of this!!!! Saving their collective ##### is what put us in this position. The only way any of this will stop is drastic change, and it’s going to hurt. But for the sake and well being of the kids, it needs to be done. Anything less shows that none of us are serious about protecting the students. -
Open letter to ALL CORPS DIRECTORS

Yes, absolutely serious. If you’re not able to see the contradictions (kids vs adults mixed into the same “youth” activity… what can go wrong? A majority of the members in world class corps are 18 and over anyway, it wouldn’t be as drastic of a change as you might think. -

Yes, it's pretty clear that last year was a total #### show from a safety perspective. Just thinking out loud about competition aspect of the activity and how that is fueling the issues were seeing. Honestly, this is all so upsetting that I'm ready to jump into "the burn it down" camp. -

You know what's interesting... we've all become so caught up in the competition aspect of drum corps that we've forgotten what the real purpose of the activity is. That's why last season was so incredible. No rule books, no competition. The kids performed to perform and the corps spoke to the audience. The shows weren't perfect, but they were fun with multiple standing ovations. It was more pure last season than its been in decades. -

After almost 35 years in this activity, I'm essentially done. I have one teenage son that is a potential future member, and based on what I've read there is absolutely no way I would allow him to march. It absolutely kills me to say this, but Dan Acheson needs to go,leadership at the BOD needs to change, and the activity needs to take a year off and address each of these issues before I would even consider allowing my son to march or pay money to go to another show. This has now reached a point of absolute absurdness. As a parent and a former marching member, I am disgusted. -
Never-mind, I just realized you have to click the arrow to see more corps. I'll take the L on this one y'all. Mods, please erase.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed that SCV is not on any of the schedules for 2022. Looking at their website, there is no mention of 2022, tryouts or camps. Did I miss something or is SCV not touring in 2022? Please tell me I'm wrong.

From what I have been told there will be no media this year, mostly due to copyright and royalty issues.

For the sake of argument, I think you have to throw design out the window this year. I was referring to the skill level of the corps. performance wise they’ve taken it up a notch. -

If this had been a competition year, Boston would have made the title fight very interesting. I believe they have the talent to win a championship and will be a very real contender in 22. -

Doesn’t matter if it’s not a big crowd… after the year we’ve all been through, any crowd is a great crowd. -

My first time in the Oil Can watching a drum corps show. We got here a little late, but I can think of no better way to kick it off than with the Madison Scouts. Just amazing!
