  1. i just can't get over the fact that at the beginning of this season people wanted to burn george hopkins at the stake over the show design, and now, at the end of the season, half of dcp is bowing at his feet
  2. try to contact someone who was in the cadets/crown pit recently. they most likely have it lying around and can send it to you in one way or another.
  3. lmao @ that wall of text *is crushed* EDIT: nice spelling by the way. *continues to be crushed*
  4. no, people just need to be smarter. i mean, it's not like we already had a discussion about your position on this issue and your use of sarcasm or anything, right?
  5. guys, i would bet money that tekk was being sarcastic again.
  6. seriously guys, pull the stick out. "demise" was used to show the fact that bd lost. not by much, but nobody was talking about the spread. also, they got FIFTH PLACE. nobody got this uptight about the "bd: many titles, pr: few titles" comment. nor should they have. it's a joke. cover your feelings in bubble wrap next time you get on the internet.
  7. tafl, stop being a punk. not being able to see in front of you is part of being a bass drummer. when you're marching, be in your spot. you won't hit anyone. when you're not marching, tilt your head to the side every few seconds. you won't hit anyone. i've never heard of anyone getting hurt by a bass drummer sprinting into them. just pay attention while you've got the drum on and you won't have to reinvent the wheel.
  8. personally, i would have preferred picnic tables scattered throughout the field.
  9. first, the required level of skill varies vastly between world class corps. so, to answer the question of "the standard for division 1 pits," there isn't one. second, practicing as much as you possibly can will probably not be enough. you have to practice the right way. try to find someone who was in the position you want, i.e. someone who was in crown's pit, and ask them to give you some pointers, or work with you a bit. as a general rule, each corps has their own system of approach that they take with each section. you're going to have to be able to apply your chops to that system, which will possibly take as much time as getting the chops in the first place.
  10. the post by that cavalier was also capped off with the statement, "... but seriously. it's just marching band."
  11. ... so ... what's your point? just to make sure everyone understands that "it happens?"
  12. it's not. that's why there's this big uproar. even the people who are defending it don't really think it's ok, as feathers up so astutely pointed out. if they truly thought their behavior was perfectly acceptable, they would have no problem telling us which corps they marched with, where their drunk friends marched, whether or not their corps' administration was aware of the drinking, and so on. but they don't, because it's not ok, and they know it. that's exactly why they did it.
  13. "it happens" doesn't change the fact that it's poor behavior. the fact that you think it's completely acceptable says a lot about you, those you marched with, and those you're associated with now. you wouldn't show up to your job with a flask in your hand. why would you even try to justify entering the field of competition, on a night when you're supposed to be rewarded for everything you've done over the summer, in that condition?
  14. i have to say, i'm feeling a bit better about the cavaliers part in all this, just because many alumni are coming forward and at least participating in the discussion. now if we could just get some blue devils and bluecoats "insiders" to let us know what's happening with them...
  15. yep. looks like there are only about 5 corps left who still remember how to spell respect.
  16. that's better than me. had i been that cadet i would have told the cavalier to get out, given him three seconds, and then kicked him in the mouth.
  17. i have no idea what that means. there are a few things in the part i bolded that really trouble me.
