  1. Guys, there's no reason to critique the OP. I find topics like these more fascinating than the headbanging we get every year discussing amps or Bb vs G.
  2. I was told of this story multiple by SCV alumni who saw it live. According to them it was a freak injury that happened that started it all.
  3. If you went to the theater show this year you could tell the difference between the high definition broadcast and when they inserted clips from the past. Resolution is totally better with high def. IMO, there's no reason to buy the cds from DCI if you know how to create audio files from dvd/bluray.
  4. Doh! I should have added Oregon just as a default to the list. Had no idea about Crown members. I didn't see Greg at the Tualatin show on the field, maybe he was in the press box.
  5. I'm going to pull for Oregon Crusaders based on their consistent rate of improvement and they're in my town.
  6. Thank you both for the info. Haven't seen legs in corps like that before or since.
  7. Anyone know who she is, and if she still has amazing calf muscles? Need 1988 pics!
  8. To my knowledge, Greg has had students from his Sunset band march with: Blue Devils Blue Knights Cadets Cavaliers Crossmen Marauders There might be more before or after my time that I'm not aware of.
  9. Ogden Utah, 1990. I was a fresh member of the Marauders but didn't get to perform as I was still learning the drill. Got to watch the show from the sidelines.
  10. Completely agree with everything except maybe marching performance and music ensemble which I would give to SCV. I still see too many bouncing shakos in the Cadets than any other hornline in the top 8. It's a wonder how they play without much feet in the sound.
  11. The Portland school district is too busy overpaying it's administration and paying for internet/cell phone perks to worry about having $ for music education...
  12. True, but that stadium/field is primarily for the NFL Seahawks. It just happens to be built very well and their MLS team plays there too.
  13. Ah, good ol' Limited Rendition. That's a funny clip.
  14. Of course not. But I wouldn't have marched summer band for six years if given the option vs corps.
  15. The older I get the more I appreciate corps that connect with the audience and how much entertainment I get for my $$$. Therefore: Crown SCV Madison Cavaliers Cadets Bloo Phantom Boston BK Spirit Blue stars BD
  16. It is hard to find prospective mates to 'get it' I think I've found mine though.
  17. 1988 Suncoast. The thing I remember about that show is the solo dancer. 'Wow, look at her legs... makes me hungry. She looks amazing.'
  18. I was a member of Sunset's band 89-92. Our band director Greg Hall was the reason our program was such as success those years. He went to California my senior year and came back in 1993 and continued the success for a while. Bands like Westview, Beaverton, Aloha, Centennial, Columbia River and Grants Pass were all strong. What's their status today? I saw Greg at the theater show and he looks good. I know he was a DCW judge at the local shows in some years.
  19. Seriously, Seattle. Have the last regional in Eugene at UO.
  20. 2012 had nothing to do with my like or dislike of any corps this year. I don't even remember BD's 2012 show. It's foolish to try to rationalize our dislike of any corps' show design with anything but the show design itself.
  21. I'll go with the Magic Johnson strategy of what will happen. "Score more points, gonna win".
  22. It seems that way sometimes on the dvd commentary of the past.
  23. I figured as much. One reason I don't enjoy spending too much time on these boards in the off season. It's the same discussions/arguments every year with the same people.
