  1. Boo's liner notes are getting stranger and stranger.
  2. Everyone who is asserting as fact that DCI will never be held liable should be happy to enter into an agreement with DCI to indemnify them for any liability. Since it isn't possible in your view, you are risking nothing. I'm sure dci will be glad to throw a little money your way for doing so, then they can forget about all their silly concerns and responsibilities and we can all watch we want without paying anything. Everybody wins. Who needs a pen?
  3. Also it makes more sense to go after one dci than a thousand different grandmas. Also, they have leverage over dci if they want all corps to be able to get permissions in the future. I would think dci is absolutely vulnerable to pressures that may be applied. And you won't necessarily ever find out about disputes that are resolved before lawsuits are filed. That doesn't mean the threat isn't there.
  4. I think it is a beautiful show and, knowing Phantom, they may add something to build on the theme. I would rather measure enthusiasm by crowd reaction than by dcp discussion, which is often enthusiastic about the wrong things.
  5. There are marching French horns though, aren't there? Or is that the same thing as a mellophone? Wow my spellcheck flags 'mellophone' and suggests 'cellophane' or 'cellphone.'
  6. Because of the earth's rotation. The sun goes down sooner in the east than in the west. This gives corps in the west more time to improve before their scores come in. People think the scores all come together at the same shows because the judges are the same, but it is really because they are in the same time zone. There's no arguing with science.
  7. That's fine as far as honest impressions on subjective aesthetics, but if accusing a corps show of being "a blatant rip-off of BD in general" is an example of the sort of thing he expects no one to ask about, that's going to look a little silly to some people. :rolleyes:/>
  8. . I always thought the judge sheets were more sophisticated than this: . .
  9. Could you explain why you think Crown's show "is a blatant rip-off of BD in general?"
  10. Yep. Now that you mention it, I seem to remember at least one judge standing on the back aisle rather than working from the press box. It was probably the only way she could judge from the 50 YL since the press box wasn't there.
  11. Maybe build on the riot that will result after Rite of Spring is performed.
  12. Yep, it's what I remember. The view from outside the stadium is arguably better than many of the seats.
  13. If it is where I am thinking of, the best seats are on the stairs on the hill behind the stadium.
  14. I'm confused. Did they say it would be live at some earlier point?
  15. I used to do that for BD's encores at the California shows. I'm probably a little more deaf now than I would be otherwise, but it was worth it. :smile:/>
  16. Actually there were a lot of babies being thrown the years they won back in 1996, 1997 and 1999. I was there. I remember. I was one of the throwers.
  17. Sorry you (and someone else apparently) did not get the point of my post. I edited to use your terminology 'criticizing' rather than 'disliking' in case anyone else in the world would not have grasped the tongue in cheek nature of my statement. I guess I just think it is kind of sad when someone has a complaint that another corps is not criticized ENOUGH. Even if there were a double standard, given that you seem to be saying the criticism is a really bad thing, I don't understand why you would see a problem with Crown (a corps you say you like) not getting more of it. Seems like you would be glad others do not have to endure it. I thought that by mirroring the clearly negative aspect of your post it might help you see that your long time obsession with this issue might not be as healthy as you may assume.
  18. On behalf of fans everywhere, I sincerely apologize for not criticizing Crown as much as you want us to.
  19. If that is the case, I played a trumpano in high school.
  20. Whatever 'drum corps' means to us, to the uninitiated it sounds like the activity is percussion only. That makes it harder to explain at the outset, and perhaps harder to market i would think.
  21. Oh YES found it thanks! In the Faust closer in 2006.
  22. I love this show. Nimrod is going to be glorious! Dumb question: down the stretch to the end they play a little piece of something very familiar but I can't place it. It's like a 7 note melody. At first I thought it was from Elsa's but couldn't find it in the Juliet show. A little help? I listened to a number of finales from recent years trying to find it. On the plus side, I listened to a number of finales from recent years trying to find it.
