  1. Grow up and save it until after you are out of the stadium. It is still a performance and it can be awe-inspiring......not the crap I heard last night.
  2. Amen to all of that. Just wanted to add they didn't cut off with the conductor at the end. How disrespectful and rude. Drum corps is supposed to make them more mature and grow. You are not a musician, if you can't follow that one basic rule I taught to my beginning band students!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. It was more than screaming trumpets...there were wrong notes.
  4. I am Spartucus!!! I am vindicated!!!!(Just Joking)
  5. No we need symmetry in this world. How about a contest between SCV and Madison for the title. (well I can dream can't I)
  6. Sorry to tell you, not each night, but for 3rd to 1st PR in 1996.
  7. Actually there has always been more fluidity in placements in Class A/Division2/Division3/Open Class. I think there has been a lot moreplacement changes between prelims/finals or semifinals/finals.
  8. I have often wondered, as a former band director, how many perfectly good instruments are in people's attics? I often saw children not be able to participate because of the money for a new instrument. Too bad they can't advertise this more. Perhaps people would grab that old trumpet or trombone and donate them.
  9. Well it fits with their theme 3hree. They won 3 of their championships with it (73,73, and 78). (Now if that isn't stretching for a reason to include it). Won't happen. It would be so out of place with their show.
  10. I wondered last night too. It's not their fiddler show. What is a star of david...........2 triangles superimposed and if you belive Dan Brown it is the sacred masculine and sacred feminine combined. (Sorry had to add that last part for humor........but it is in his book and here as well http://www.karenmccoy.com/venustransit.htm)
  11. I have to agree about that night. As I have said in other posts, I am anything but a phantom phan. Well maybe, 76-77 a bit. But on that night sitting in the stands in 1996 I knew I had seen an emotional driven performance. Last night I felt some of the same. What a performance!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. "Not according to the judges as of yet." .............and what do the judges know?????? I know they have had it right 1976, 1977,1979, 1980, 1982, 1986, etc............................... I don't understand how you can question the judges on one hand yet say they had it right those other years. Best Laugh of the week. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! Yah didn't get it did you.....OOPS right over your silly little head!!!! That is called sarcasm. Look it up in a dictionary. Those ARE the years the Blue Devils won. Those who don't know their history are DOOMED!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! My last reply to you as you aren't worth it
  13. Don't forget the guy with the umbrella, and J. Edgar Hoover made a special trip to Dallas the night before JFK was shot, and "Tricky Dick" was also in town that day. Look on YouTube they slow down the Zapruder film on one video and it looks like the driver turns around with a gun and does the shooting. Really look it up.
  14. ...............and put your feet together...we only have one nail left.
  15. Well we did see a baton twirler last night. Not a first however. In Birmingham(don't know which year) Suncoast Sound came back from a European tour ( I was told) and the had twirler(s) and they ended their show with "The First Noel". Now that is absurdity........August in Birmingham and Christmas Carols. Perhaps a new idea for a "theme " show. Also didn't the cadets have a twirler once......remember the high step college-like drum major the one year???? Gee my memory is going. Love this thread
  16. No the real surprise is they could patch the hole and the Titanic doesn't sink!!!!!!!!
  17. "Then wait until you have more cents... (ba-doom-ching!)" Have more than you will EVER HAVE!!!!! "Somehow I doubt that... " You don't know me then. Always been a huge Vanguard fan and will defend their 1978 title to my death over Phantom. 1989..........I might give to Phantom but only cause I loved SCV's 1988 Phantom of the opera so MUCH better,Absolutely hated Phantom's color guard instructor ( who I am sure is still regarded as a God in Phantom land....can't remember his name, but he was pompous and was awful at WGI). "Not according to the judges as of yet." .............and what do the judges know?????? I know they have had it right 1976, 1977,1979, 1980, 1982, 1986, etc............................... BLUE DEVILS ARE and ALWAYS HAVE BEEN BORING.
  18. Call it by any name you want. It isn't effective !!!! Phantom's drill program has progressed immensely in the past 10-15 years. Earlier years I would grant that.
