  1. Farandole - Opener, Nimrod - Production Blue Knights - 2010 Great Sounding music Video on Fan Network!!
  2. i say let people know whats going on. dci needs transparency and it seems like there isnt any. no finals attendance numbers for the past 2 seasons. i have gotten around 5 - 10 e-mails advertising for the big monday ticket sale. every year they post the proposals for every one to read. they havent yet. and people want to know if they want to continue to support DCI by knowing whats being passed or voted out. havent had anymore releases from people regarding the sound situation at LOS. just seems like people in the offices at DCI are keeping things tight lipped for what reason.... it will hurt DCI in the end to not have transparency...
  3. Hello All, Wondering what happened at the Winter Meetings that were held this past weekend. Any News on proposals or corps moving into world class? fill us in with the info!!
  4. i doubt Bluecoats will be doing Dream Theater's Metropolis.
  5. Since LOS and DCI Supposedly have a deal on the stadium, and LOS and DCI are supposedly working together to make Finals Week the best possible experiment. I dont think that costs would be invloved to know that they are working together to see what can be done to improve the quality of sound. I dont trust what the judges say about the sound issues at LOS. I was there for BOA and i know it isnt the same as DCI but.. I know what i heard. Im Just going to e-mail my suggestion to Bob Jacobs and The Directors of Blue Stars and Madison Scouts. The only thing that can happen is it doesn't happen. but i look at it this way. If a fan is making a legit request and concerned and presents an option to not only bring in money to DCI, but to also possibly help make the sounds at LOS better. They should be opted to listen and at least Ponder the thoughts. DCI Meetings are Jan 10. Maybe it will get brought up and Other Directors say it is a good idea!
  6. easy fix. Madison and Blue Stars both rehearse in Indianapolis for their winter camps correct. Get DCI Officials, LOS Officials and the 2 corps to due a Saturday sound test. set up stuff to record sound and video. analyze the data. Madison Scouts and Blue Stars can then do a run through in the dome with the roof opened. and then the roof closed. it is winter so im sure the place is brisk anyways. dont use the air conditioning and put up the curtains like they were set up for the 2009 BOA Grand Nationals. Get the guy that records all blue devils CD's - Frank D. to do the audio testing and see which is better. Get a Video set up and do a live feed for fan network subscribers. brining money in.... Use the reaction from fan network subscribers. get the Friends of DCI Involved in it. i am sure they would love to be the test audience. It is possible for them to try this. and who so ever didnt put a drainage system in on a building with that kind of price tag. they need to think what damage is being caused by not having proper drainage. there are foundations and alot of stuff underground that the regular vistor doesnt see..
  7. I agree with Jeff. Shows are way different at Finals than in June. The way i look at it is. It wouldn't Hurt to do it. very reasonable. yes. it depends alot on if they are designing their show for LOS too.. I was at LOS for BOA Grand Nationals. It did look like there was more fabric than at the 2009 DCI Finals. Sound wasn't what i thought it would be. i was sitting on the 50 yd line in iirc either the 300 or 400 level. DCI doesn't have venue information listed for ANY finals event so you can look at seating charts yet. Maybe this is a sign that they are trying to make the experience that much better. we will see come August 14th 2010.

  14. Building a corps isn't easy work at all. it is a very long hard and tedious process. Ask me i should know. i tried and i failed. miserably. but situations get misconstrued and people go flying off and posting irrational thoughts and it hurts. whether your involved or not. I don't know anyone on Educational Staff at Mystikal or in Administration positions. I feel sorry for the airing of laundry that has happened. it is sad to see that 2 corps aren't coming back in 2010. Based on research that has been done and with seeing people say that new corps are coming for open class. i dont think open class should falter. the way i look at it is there is going to be 1 or 2 new corps to hit open class this year. 2 corps that wont be in open class for 2010. one corps possibly moving up so that leaves 21 open class corps. if you add the possibilities of the 2 new corps that will hit open this year plus the 2 or 3 that might come next year open class is thriving. i dont see open class faltering any time soon. people are starting to see open class as a good thing for DCI and open class is getting more chances to become better marketed and hopefully it will pay off and by 2015 we will see a stronger force of open class. i say there will be close to 30 corps in open and about 27 in world class.
  15. FJM Requires all Drum Corps to pay in full before the uniform is to be made. That is what a FJM Customer Service Rep has said. I can't wait to see the new design. Cesario has some brilliant ideas for designs. He designed the 2007 - 2009 uniform also. Love to see what they will be sporting in 2010.
  16. Awww.... I Liked the uniforms. I Thought they were very nice looking, Mature and very neat. On The Price Thing.... It Depends on what all they have to buy. If it is new uniforms period - jacket, gauntlets, pants, shakos, plumes -. they will likely be spending around $50,000.00 if they have to buy just jackets, gauntlets, plumes - i would say anywhere around $15,000.00 - $30,000.00
  17. Hmmm... i think the percussion guy will be Jefferson Lee..... he is associated with MEG....
  18. This is in response to whoever said Jay was arranging at Spirit - It is Scott Boerma. Great Arrangements
  19. Teal Sound..... GREAT DIRECTOR AND ADMINISTRATION STAFF.... Ron Ellis, Jared Johnson and Lee Hansen - Awesome Arranging this year. I LOVED Coldplay. wouldn't mind hearing more. Phyllis and volunteals - fed us awesomely this summer. actually enjoyed eating with teal more than i did when i was at home with mom. Why give the teal time such a hard time honestly. Randy works his butt off to make sure Teal Sound has a very nice tour each summer. got them new horns and percussion equipment since 07. got them new uniforms and pit and battery instruments for 2009. got a velvet rope to stretch across the field to help carry the design into the way it needed it to be. they took 4th. honestly yes they deserved higher than that cause teal knows how to march and to knock you back when they need to make a impact. goosebumps for the first minute and a half of the show. was awesome. Teal will most likely be leaving the ranks of the Open Class after this season. They will go play with the World Class Groups in 2010. heck thats what the difficulty of their 2009 show was written in. I wish Randy and Co. good luck in 2010. they know how to tour safely with no accidents this year. nothing bad happened. they did over 9,000 miles. how many other open class corps can say they toured for over 9,000 miles. Teal prolly came home with money in the bank. Thats a requirement when you are being evaluated for World Class. Thats Even a Requirement when you apply for an evaluation to even be an open class group. after your first year they check your financials and they watch you like a hawk. Looks like randy and co know how to get a drum corps on the field and down the road safely, while being well fed and looking sharp and coming home with money in the bank. So while the obvious person that started this post had to air his opinions. thats fine. but if you want to know why teal sound or randy and co did something the way they did. call them and ask them. dont come take up space and make people waste their time reading you air out your grievances on a board that every one reads. believe me everyone reads this thing. Teal Sound has loyal volunteals and people that contribute to the organization just fine. so what if they loose your support. i am sure people get pissy about alot of things. but guess what Cadets did 3 shows that no one really liked but guess what. they still had the same people giving them money year in and out. if one person stops because a rock band was in, thats their preference. I know of 4 - 5 groups that are wanting to start drum corps over the next 3 years. All will be Open Class. I know some that are thrilled at the fact they get to use all the toys, so that way when they do grow and get big enough to push for world it wont be that much more expensive to design a show. cause they will have the equipment neccessary...... ponder those thoughts......
  20. Spirit's Show was very innovative and it took a big risk to put it on the field. The Brass, Battery Percussion, and Front Ensemble can all Perform musically and guard can spin and dance very well. best i have heard since 2006. 2007 was good and it looked like a step in the right direction. Spirit 08 was just bad choices from design team. charts were great and sounded great. VISUALLY is were spirit is hurting. Keep the instructional staff intact that was there this year. Replace visual. dont go after gaines again cause i really wasnt a fan of the drill except in 03...... go for someone that has a proven visual program and put it in place. we are in Alabama and can be outside as early as February. we should have the visual advantage from being in Alabama. never gets too cold. Alabama doesnt have the visual in the high school department at all. Alabama is the state that sucks in marching visual performance and design. Spirit will come out again next year with a great musical book and it will be of the right difficulty for the members playing it. lets just hope visual is up to par. Members put all they have into their show when they march Spirit. Spirit is a very good corps. haven't ever heard anything bad about spirit except from a management to staff thing. but thats for another post in another time. Just find a instructional staff that can teach visual. thats all spirit will need. 2009's show design was very well planned and executed. but you call can see where spirit is lacking in the scores and recaps. it is visual.
  21. Shows Themes and Music for the upcoming Season Blue Devils - Mingus...... minus the chairs Carolina Crown - Steven Reineke - Symphony No. 1 - New Day Rising The Cadets - RENT The Cavaliers - Micheal Daughtery's Metropolis Symphony SCV - New World Symphony Bluecoats - Mahler.... 22. I'm hoping someone does the music from the new batman movies at some point. It think it would work great for BK as the title could be "The Dark Knight". I know people are tired of that word play but this time it would be really cool! Spirit did Batman Begins Music in 08 - didnt seem to well received. everyone was really confused with the 08 Spirit Show!!
