  1. I love the idea of drum corps and colorguard movies. ...But this? Really? Hopefully it's just a bad trailer and the movie will be better...
  2. Modern dance has definitely helped me out more than ballet and jazz. But a lot of it is probably due to the approach of the teachers, and which details they stress. Glad to hear you're having fun and good luck in the future!
  3. Be very very smelly when you realize you can't wash your clothes...
  4. Where did you hear that from? I've always found that the people with the power strips have the most friends...
  5. You won't be soon! Just don't let it freak you out to the point where you don't go at all. Everyone is pretty nervous about it at first, so you won't be alone.
  6. If luggage or sleeping bag bags start falling apart. Also, you can find things to hook them to above your seat so you can hang stuff from them. They're pretty much awesome.
  7. There's nothing wrong with going to camps for more than one corps. Last season I had my heart set on Corps A, but when I showed up to camp, I just wasn't feeling it. Some friends dragged me to camp for Corps B, that I wasn't initially interested in at all. I ended up falling in love and am returning this year for sure. You may surprise yourself with what you find you like and don't like about some corps. Just make sure you don't talk about other corps while you're at camp! That's a big no-no.
  8. Did the rest of you get to see that half gallon during practice?
  9. I just finished up my second season, and quite honestly, I haven't found a need to buy much of anything while on tour. I brought a decent sized bottle of 2-in-1 shampoo and found that it and my regular sized body wash were running on empty finals week at the very end of the season, so I never had to restock. I spent the bulk of my money doing laundry and food on free days, and although I usually got off the bus to use the restroom at buy stops, the line always looked way too intimidating, and nothing ever appealed to me too much. Every now and then I would grab a Gatorade or some snacks to restock my bus box, but I usually did that after a show so I wouldn't have to wait in line so long and risk not having time to purchase it. Overall, I'd say I spent about $100 each season, but I definitely see how many kids rack up tons more. I also had family and friends come to see me at many shows throughout the season, and they always brought me things I would have gotten anyway, so that was just that much more that I didn't need to spend. I'd say $200 is pretty safe, but if they're anything like me, they'll probably come home with some left over.
  10. Well there's the pot calling the kettle black! You're going to vouch for those that got cut during quarters and semis, but COMPLETELY ignore the 10 Open Class corps who didn't make it to finals? You, my friend, seem to have no more class than I. {/sarcasm}
  11. Nonono. 1. Phantom Regiment 1. Blue Devils 1. Cavaliers 1. Carolina Crown 1. Cadets 1. Bluecoats 1. Santa Clara 1. Blue Stars 1. Blue Knights 1. Boston Crusaders 1. Glassmen 1. Madison Scouts You see? Everyone can be a winner!
  12. Don't know how many aged out, but I'd say it's likely that not every member will be returning.
  13. Sounds like someone who can continue to build the colorguard up, especially since he's already worked with the corps. They placed well in 08, so it looks like he will have a lot of talent to work with.
  14. Multiple time a day. So sad. I don't post much, but I lurk around a whole heck of a lot. Though during the season, I'm marching.
  15. Never saw a show of better quality than what I could find on YouTube until after my first performance in 07. Didn't really know I was auditioning in December of 06, but was hooked as soon as I started finding videos and surfing the web for any info I could find about DCI.
  16. Even after you swap Pacific Crest and Scouts, you'd still have them above Crossmen and Spirit?
  17. I'm pretty sure we did it alphabetically.
  18. The same corps can't be in two places. What he meant was BDB in 3rd. Obviously.
  19. Heaven forbid somebody else make it known and clear what they think about it on the same thread as well... Especially on a discussion board of all places.
  20. I began colorguard in marching band, but my first experience marching an instrument was in drum corps
  21. "Oh hey colorguard! Did you not hear that lunch was moved up an hour? Oh. Well all the food is gone, but you have snacks in your bus boxes, right?" No joke. I guess they had gone out and gotten the rest of the corps who was on a field on the other side of the campus and forgot about us?
  22. It's not them always being mean. It's them keeping things interesting. Hearing people yell things like this all day is one of the reasons I love marching. I would much rather be yelled at not to look like Lindsay Lohan after cocktail hour than be tapped on the shoulder and told to watch my spacing on a certain set. Where's the fun in that? Also, I don't know anyone who doesn't need a good little kick in the rear end sometimes. Though it's not as if every moment on the field is filled with comments such as these. These are just the few that stick out in our minds.
  23. Anything that comes out of Tony Rideout's mouth is worthy of this thread. One of my favorites: "Now, now children. Your spacing is getting rather lesbionic here. This isn't Lindsay Lohan after cocktail hour!"
  24. My parents went crazy if I didn't call them every single day. But I figured that was something they should get over. I wasn't going to sacrifice time with my fellow corps members or sleep trying to find a place I would get cell phone reception. When I had the time and opportunity, I'd give them a call, but it was definitely not nearly as often as they would have liked. And on top of that, my mom came on tour with us for more than half the summer, because my dad would not let me go unless she went too, and there was no way I was staying home all summer. Hooray for over protective parents...
