1. Maybe those who are upset about Onyx's show are doing exactly what Onyx wants them to do? They are buying into the concept, even if they don't realize it or want to acknowledge it. What makes art 'good' or 'bad'?

2. It's about the construction and deconstruction of art.
3. We tried to get into one last year, but I don't know how these arrangements are made. We didn't get in, and I wasn't sure who to try contacting this year. Seems like a fun thing :-)
4. Prediction: Convalesence will actually get the opportunity to perform, but will be disqualified immediately upon taking the floor and will need to be escorted out of the facility. Any predictions on the infraction?
5. YEAH!! Loved this show live! Can't wait to see it again!
6. Pacificaires show was AMAZING live, even from the back of the floor! We can't wait to see it in Dayton - hopefully from the front of the floor somewhere.
7. They didn't edit it. They used the radio version of the song, in which the word is deleted.
8. The lights did not go out at the Austin regional. It happened in Houston.
9. yes. Everyone else has prelims and finals. SA has prelims, semi finals, and finals.
10. At the Southwestern Championships the SA guard will be performing at a different facility in a prelims round. They then perform in semifinals on Saturday night, and the finalists perform on Sunday.
11. Awesome news! Both shows are amazing!
12. You're right! Just saw it on the TCGC website, but I hadn't seen it there before. Congrats to Spring HS as well!
13. The schedule has not been updated yet, surprisingly. Word was out about CTJ by Monday and Oak Ridge by Thursday or Friday last week (which was also surprising since Oak Ridge was 1st place and CTJ was 2nd place in SA at the Houston regional).
14. AVIDITY was promoted from A to Open (will be performing in Open class at the Dallas regional). Claudia Taylor Johnson HS and Oak Ridge HS were promoted from A to Open this past week after the Houston regional. And it appears that Orlando Visual and Gainesville Independent were promoted from A to Open after their PRELIMS performance at the Orlando Regional: OV finishing in 2nd and GI in 4th place (out of 6) in Open class finals. Congrats to them!
15. According to the WGI Hand Book The number of finalists at all Regionals shall be determined by the formula of 100% of World Class, 75% of Open Class and 50% of A Class color guards. The maximum number of finalists in any class shall never exceed the maximum number at World Championships of fifteen (15) color guards. Each Finals contest will accept a minimum of three (3) finalists in each class. • In cases where applying the finalist percentages would eliminate only one (1) color guard, all would advance to Finals. The percentage is also rounded to the nearest whole number when determining number of finalists. The number of finalists at all Power Regionals Finals shall be applied using the same method as Regionals (see above) with the maximum number of eight (8) finalists in every class. In cases where the number of finalists does not reach eight (8), the Director of Color Guard has sole discretion to increase the number of finalists in any other class based on the total number of entries and time permitting. Each Finals contest will accept a minimum of three (3) finalists in each class. Regional A Class color guards do not advance to Finals.
16. Two examples come to mind: Santa Clara Vanguard and Onyx last year. There were so many OMG moments during both shows that didn't involve tosses at all, but the majority of applause was for the high tosses (all caught solidly and with wonderful technique). I still get chills watching the videos of both these shows, and we've shown them multiple times to our kids to show where and why these shows were so wonderful in the choreography, staging, and exquisite use of breath, flow, and technique in the extremely long phrases of work at varying tempos used in both these shows.
17. Did you use a script to compile these scores or did you go to circuit websites to access them? I think it would be interesting to compile local circuit scores and compare them to WGI scores since most circuits seem to now be using WGI sheets in all national level classes (A, Open, World). Speaking of compiling scores, it looks like http://guardbuzz.com/ is ready for the 2011 season now that regionals have begun!
18. Is this going to be a copyright issue like when they used Denzel Washington's quotes from Mo' Betta' Blues for their LOVE show? I really enjoyed seeing that show live, but never watch the video because you miss so many of the nuances from the show because the spoken part is missing.
19. You forgot HORIZON (formerly FIU) :-)
20. Who? What? CCGC SCVGWG ? (assuming SCVGWG is Santa Clara)..
21. Yes, use baby powder HOWEVER, make sure the floor is completely dry before doing so, or you will have "cloudy" areas in the floor, as the powder will stick to the paint. Make sure the floor is dry by doing the following: Provide some type of consistent air-flow over the floor while it is drying. If it is damp/humid, or cold in the area where you are airing out the floor, it may not dry properly. Large industrial fans work great. Use thinner paint. What I mean, is don't paint really thickly. Use the bare minimum to cover the area and create the look you want. Thicker paint may feel dry on the surface, but actually be wet underneath. When you fold it up/put pressure on it, you can get stickiness.

23. look into churches and/or boys/girls clubs or boyscout troops!
24. oh - and we tape them so they are easier to see when they are tossed. I am not sure why others tape them. although some sabres are taped to create a more even balance, so they look more "stable" when spinning in the air.
