  1. . Good lord are we now seeing parody in absolutely everything? This getting crazy! Hey you know what? They double tongue some stuff. That must be a parody of G7 corps who have double tongued. Jeeez folks.
  2. or maybe it's simply a pose like other corps do too! Let's not overthink this.
  3. thanks for not picking nits. I won't either. So what does the guy who does repetitive drill who also templates it earn each year. My estimated numbers were based on a $900K figure at &12k - $20k per show. Extrapolating some numbers and time, I am only saying this isn't really feasible. Whomever is telling this young kid (an assumption on my part) that a particular drill writer is making that amount of money is pulling his leg. I know of a DC who years ago had a significant payroll forcstaff. How many on staff got paid I don't know. What compensation was for paid staff is also not known to me. But I do know their employment was truly treated as employment with taxes taken along with soc sec. Truly paid like a typical job. I would guess even with paid staff the corps didn't reach a $900k payroll. It is possible they now do.
  4. Might try to get to the show. It will be a last minute decision. No ticket but I still may go and see what is available. Need to see BAC live as i may not get to see at the theater next week.
  5. You are being mislead or outright BS'd. Get this writers tax return and see how much is being made. If you look at it logically based on your information, it doesn't make sense or is humanly impossible to do by one person. Several groups, make $12k - $20k per group. So on those figures alone, say the average is $16K/group. That means this drill writer is writing for 56.25 groups. So to make things easy to estimate, round up and figure 60 groups. How many hours to write a show. 100? If so the writer needs 6,000 hours to accomplish the work. over 52 weeks (and we know it isn't over 52 weeks) that is 115 hours/week or 16 hours/day, 7 days/week. So the conclusions one is brought to is: It isn't true and we all have a nice piece of swampland to sell you. Or possible the writer is selling the saem show over and over to anumber of disparate grouped who will never know they are doing another groups drill. Sounds like out of the movie "Bring It On"! Plus, who charges based on unit pricing of $100/kid? I believe you have more research to do. The pricing others have mentioned on previous posts is very likely closer to actual.
  6. Anyone feel a surge coming on? The momentum is there and the kids are obviously starting to really understand how to clean and perform this show. That is what it is all about now; performance. For those who say it can't get clean or it's too late to get it clean enough, wait and see. Up to Indy, BAC is in shows with Phantom 3 times, BK 3 times, B Stars 2 times, Madison 2 times. All in all the comparisons at this time would favor BAC's cleaning pace and clear performance improvement; setting up where BAC often times has done well through quarters, semis and finals. 6th is within reach.
  7. So you've read the book, seen the show, heard all the drama and still missed the point of the show and the corps? Too bad. It would seem you misunderstand the difficulty of this show and the organizations choice not to take the easy way out. I would hazard to say this was a collaborative decision on the shows design. Is it a simpler show that is appealing for you? The corps is looking to and making an investment (in a number of ways) in the future not the short term satisfaction of fans. I would suggest revieiwng some of the commentary here and give it some thought about what is being presented by BAC.
  8. Excuse me BFL, what you are needing is on the second shelf next to the aspirin. Take 2 and Be sure you have food with them. This is not a political discussion site
  9. Design "failing" the kids? Explain please. Be specific and explain how the kids might feel like designers failed them. Do you know anyone there?
  10. Disappointed that my season was not as good or didn't turn out as hoped or as expected? Yes, i'm disappointed; I'm human. Normal reaction. But it was temporary because I always believed we worked hard. Harder than most corps. We had to. We were smaller, had less. I say smaller but in numbers. we were all Giants. When we got to a show, sang our corps song to each other, we always finished with "We don't gava". Disappointed occasionally, temporarily, but I didn't gava. None of us did. Move on, work harder. We were happy.
  11. 1. BD 98.4 2. Cad 97.7 3. BC 97.65 4. SCV 96.75 5. Car 96.7 6. BAC 94.35 7. BK 94.25 8. Cav 94.1 9. Phan 93.8 10. Blu 91.6 11. Mad 90.9 12. Cro 89.95 13. Troo 88.9 14. Spirit 87.7 Total guesses. It will be tight at the top and tight from 4-9 Good luck to all. The bar keeps rising each year.
  12. BAC will have had three full days of rehearsals since San Antonio. What can we expect tomorrow night in Hattiesburg when they go against BC, BK, CC. I hope to see a lift in score to 85 or more. That would be huge, but can they pass or catch BK and close up a bit on BC (which opened up in San Antonio). Will they actually achieve an 85? They need to. They need to show they are cleaner; and if they are much cleaner on the front end of the show they might. It will be hard to get even a little more credit for being cleaner, unless they are much much cleaner. In reading past posts, it appears they have been cleaning late-in-the-show additions. That's all well and good but if you cannot show improvement over what you have had since the start of the year (the front end), it will be hard to convince anyone you are getting significantly cleaner. That is the crux of this shows design and has as much to do with perception as anything else. The design staff MUST recognize the show needs to be clean, or the design means little. In the industry I am in, there comes a point that I can relate to DC,; "Designers need to know when to stop designing". Turn the show over to the cleaners! Designers can focus globally on performance/projection, but leave most rehearsal time to cleaning. I get BAC is known for late season surges, but that needs to begin now, not in another week. The perfomance needs to have a major obvious improvement in Atlanta. These kids can do it so long as they continue to build confidenc as it appears thay are doing. I have all the faith in this organization they will get it done. Eat Em Up Boston! You are Giants!
  13. at this point BAC needs to run the show over snd over and over. Build up endurance and confidence . Clean as they go thru each run through, from start to finish . The next 4 shows are critical to show improvement in performance and the ability to sell the show. BAC needs to gain ground on those ahead of them and separate themselves from those behind them. Next Saturday is critical to prove this shows design and performance quality and acheivability. Hopefully there is no adding or making major changes . The focus must be on cleaning and performance confidence. The late season push that is their usual MO needs to begin now .
  14. When I saw this topic I thought it was about DCP'rs who spend their life on this site rambling on and on arguing aboout irrelevant stuff. Well maybe then this is where Amazon will do testing their drone delivery services. Taking judging sheets back and forth or delivering food to VIP ticket holders.
  15. Blue Devils by a landslide? Who wins by a landslide these days? How'd you hear about their drill? Crown is doing a sequal? Of what? My guess is they improve drums and hold on brass and drill but miss winning in a tight 3 corps race with SCV and BD Cavies hit "rock bottom"? Missing top 12 would be for them, rock bottom. They have not hit rock bottom. Tough time maybe from a design standpoint. Blue Knights looking for one moment would actually need 2 or three to get the real wow. Boston; although you haven't heard what the actual music is you've assumed it won't translate. And the music and drill won't work well. What is the music and drill? Have you seen or heard any of it? They could end up in 9th?...they could end up in 6th. Blue Stars minimalism. I am not sure minimalism works well these days. The more complete & well constructed a show is the more successful it has been. I guess though these predictions are totally speculative. Like most on DCP are with no real basis. Some of these though just seem whacky. Track these and at the end of the year report on how well you did. I would love to see it. Enjoy the season.
  16. Yeah so music wasn't "announced"; but was something actually played? My guess is music probably was played. What might it have been. Yes emc2 I am being smart alecky to you. You can smack me later :-) But seriously, what did they play?
  17. Where are the performances on the 14th & 15th? I know they are in Boston on the 12th (can't go), at the Fling in Dot on the 13th (can't go) and are rehearsing in Ashburnham during this time thru the 18th. I'd like to see them in Ashburnham. Maybe 14th or 15th?
