  1. I will be auditioning for Carolina Crown trumpet in December I tried to make the November camp but I have school stuff going on
  2. Hahaha does anyone else sense that this is gonna turn into a bloodbath? I'm gonna go hide and laugh from a safe distance
  3. Thanks to everyone who submitted names for my Class A corps! Now for the vote. Because there were so many names given, this will be a multi-round vote, and you will be allowed to vote for more than one name in the first two rounds. So here is round one, with all 17 of the names that were originally suggested. The top 8 will make it to round two, and from there the top 4 will go to the final vote. So let's get to it, thanks again!
  4. Alright everyone, thanks a lot for your ideas! The name submission period is now closed and the names given so far will be put up to vote in another thread. Because there were so many names given, this will be a multi-round vote, and you will be allowed to vote for more than one name in the first two rounds. Thanks again guys
  5. Actually, they were good enough that ESPN aired the entire show plus encore for free.
  6. For those of you who haven't browsed DCI.org since the season ended, I just wanted to point out that their annual "Halloween Screamers" list is back. The Halloween Screamers are a collection of videos from the DCI archives, showcasing your favorite eardrum-splitting high notes from soprano and trumpet players. Their list is actually pretty short...so I invite you all to list some of your favorite screaming moments from drum corps past in this thread.
  7. Box 5 is not good enough for them...so the judges created box 12
  8. Their brass line wins the high percussion award every year.
  9. OK so the name of CODCE's Class A corps, the Front Rangers, is changing for season XIII. I would like to invite all of my fellow DCP-I directors to submit names for the corps in this thread and then later on we will vote for the official name. The two names that I have come up with are: Rocky Mountain Vanguard Mile High Pride I would like to have a name that is Colorado-based, but any and all names submitted will be up for vote. Your input is much appreciated
  10. Hey everyone! Good to have the site back up in time for another fun-filled season. To start off, I would like to announce that the name of our Class A corps, The Front Rangers, is being changed. I will start a second thread so my fellow DCP-I directors can help me choose the new name. Now for our second piece of business: I would like to present some ideas we have for our season XIII shows, based on the most recent meeting of the CODCE staff and Board of Directors. Please note that the following are ideas only at the moment, and are incomplete and subject to change. Firebird (World Class) Show Title: TBA Music will all be by composer John Mackey. At this point, we know the opener will for sure be "Asphalt Cocktail", and we are now trying to decide which of his other pieces to use as well. We are considering "Turbine" and "Kingfishers Catch Fire" at the moment. Firebird Cadets (Open Class) Show Title: New World Symphony The title pretty much explains it all here. Strongly considering using Phantom's 1989 version of the ballad. *no name* (Class A, Formerly the Front Rangers) Show Title: TBA This show will feature some of the western-themed music of Aaron Copland, such as "Red Pony" and "Hoedown". Please feel free to leave your input on these shows below. Ideas for improvement are always welcome.
  11. OK here is my first attempt at one of these prediction threads: 1. Crown - lots of momentum from the last few years. Plus I HOPE to be marching with them and a championship my rookie year would be amazing! 2. BD - Not a huge fan but they are good and they won't be out of the top 3 for sure. 3. SCV - Continuing the climb from last year, great show. May duke it out with BD and Crown a few times. 4. Cadets - They will have another exciting show, hopefully without narration, but not as clean as the top 3. 5. Cavaliers - As much as I love the Cavies, they will slide a little after 2009's finish and staff changes. Still visually strong/innovative though. 6. Bluecoats - Love the energy that comes from this corps. 7. Phantom - Still rebuilding after last year. 8. BAC - Still running off of energy from last year, another great show. 9. Blue Stars - not quite sure what to say, liked their shows the last two years. 10. Troopers - after breaking into the top 12 they will attract more talent and keep going strong. 11. Blue Knights - Simply because they are finalists year after year and we know how judging politics work 12. Madison - new all-star staff really does them some good, beginning a comeback
  12. Maybe I'm just behind in the news, but are the Kingsmen planning a return to DCI? http://www.kingsmenstarcorps.org/Mission.html From what I can see its a ways off in the future, but they appear to be making a real effort.
  13. I am from Colorado actually, currently in my junior year at Bear Creek. Good to meet another Coloradan on here lol And again, American Fork will be in my thoughts and prayers
  14. Does anyone besides me think its funny that someone took the time to hack a drum corps site? Let alone a fantasy drum corps league?
  15. Got 'em with 1:37 to spare. Thanks for this quiz!
  16. So terrible when something like this happens, it affects the whole community. I remember a few years ago when a band parent from another band in my area was killed while driving their equipment truck down an icy highway. I also marched in the Rose Parade this year with someone from American Fork...they will be in my prayers.
  17. As a brass guy, I would have liked a switch to Yamaha horns (I own a Xeno trumpet myself) but I definitely prefer King to Dynasty And I love the sound of Pearl drums...this is gonna be awesome!
  18. Powerful. R.I.P. to the many 9/11 victims and the soldiers who have fallen in the following war on terror.
  19. For those of you who were wondering about the sound quality on DCI's 2009 DVDs/CDs, their latest news article contains a free preview from Crown's show "The Grass is Always Greener". http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=a...40-16613fd216f8 Enjoy
  20. hahaha I actually know this kid too, McCormick "Mick" Wooden, marched Rose Parade 09 with him. Great video!
