  1. OK, ok mic malfunction, the guard forgets how to do drop spins, and the door refuses to open. Is that sufficient for a 2.5 deduction? One can always hope for miracles.
  2. Or perhaps Cadets have another mic malfunction and the one errant judge decides to do the right thing and score it properly. A mic malfunction would be worth 2.5 to me.
  3. Cavies 80.95 Bluecoats 79.15 Scouts 77.45 Colts 74.35 Blue Stars 70.5 Cap Reg 69 Pio 59.25
  4. Miracles do happen, even in this activity. I have Regiment eching out a victory tonight by a close margin of .5. Anyone else see it going that way?
  5. I have heard this argument in one form or another since the mid '90's. I find this topic has greater implications. Many people tend to argue that music in general has been boring and unintellectual since the '80's. I've even heard that argument applied to drum corps music as well. Perhaps that is what this topic is really getting at.
  6. You gotta go for fun on this one: Either Madison '97 or '99. I'm shocked no one has said either of these. You can't even count the amount of babies thrown on the field with these two years.
  7. Had to be the old high school. The new one is NICE.
  8. I'll be honest. Not a big fan. Then again, I'm usually pretty pessimistic when it comes to uniform changes. Its always better to see them in person before making judgment.
  9. I miss the days when Cap Sound used to be a jazz corps. Then again I was in Cap Sound when we were Elfman crazy. Best of luck.
  10. I thought the argument for not letting div II/III march on the field earlier in the day was because of field damage. This would all make sense since all of finals week will be held at Camp Randall.
  11. 2 things will happen. 1) Regiment plays Death Hunt again and they try to recreate a chainsaw-esque sound with their euph line. 2) We'll all be speaking of at least one corps saying things like, "Remember them back in (insert year), they were so good. I wish they could get their financial act together and come back."-or something like this-"Those (insert corps name) rocked, I wish they were still around. Thanks to gas prices and other factors many smaller, much loved corps will unfortunately not be able to deal with the financial crush and fold. (Please don't bash me too hard, only being honest!)
  12. Which leads me to my next question-what is a DCI director's meeting like with all those egos in one room?
  13. In what aspect are you referring to? Technically it was a very good show, but GE? Not for me.
  14. Cavies and Magic '02 hold a special place in my heart.
  15. "Dark Sound?" I'm confused. Are you mistaking warm air for a dark sound? Warm air is probably a better use of terms I believe. Warm air is not always dark, but it does tend to blow more freely which would aid in the production of a more in tune sound. Are we talking about the same things here?
  16. Michigan City, IN, 2002 Coming out of the drum solo the stands decided to explode. I think I honestly forgot how to play my horn for a few measures. One of the coolest things you can do with your clothes on, seriously.
  17. I was always appalled at Cavies retreat ettiquette. Now I am biased but some of the things I heard in my two years would make just about anyone blush.
  18. I'm really starting to get worried here. The thread is about best hornline ever, yet I have only seen a few mentions about The Men of Madison. No corps generates that kind of crowd response consistently throughout the years without doing something right. You cannot argue with the bravado of '88 or the tenacity of '97. '88 Scouts is by far the best hornline ever.
  19. I fought so hard for my opportunity to march in drum corps. Now I don't know your family situation and I know I'm just reiterating what has already been said but if you want something badly enough you will get it. I financed drum corps entirely on my own and when it was all said and done I thanked my parents for making it a difficult road to reach my goal. In the end my parents did feel bad for not seeing it my way, but it all made me a better, stronger person for it. The hardest things we do in life are some of the best lessons learned. The things I took away from drum corps I continue to use to this day and someday you will be passing on your story to a younger generation of drum corps kids.
  20. So I was at my brother's place and he had this drum cadence, we sat there trying to figure out if there were 5 or 6 bass drums. I said that there were 5 distinct bass drums and he said there were 6. But this could all be a moot point if the cadence he downloaded isn't even one the USMC D+BC does. In my opinion it was the Texas Aggie band, but that's a different argument all together. Does anyone know how many bass drums the Marines use and if you also knew, how many bass drums the Texas Aggie Band uses? Thanks david
  21. I really love that cadence. I always wanted to know the origins of it, but is there anyone who might have a recording of it? I know its not the most gorgeous cadence, but I think it rocks. thanks
