Yamaha supports Mini Corps

Excellent idea and very thoughtful. May I suggest 100% donating it to an "inner city" school? -

1400 locations in 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Franchise locations are available anywhere throughout the world. So technically ...yes, it is "International" -

All corps registered with DCI right now qualify for Worlds if they so chose. Point missed...NOT! -
Are the World Championships real?

Until There is enough overseas corps to justify it , it wont happen. Could you imagine sending 40 North American corps to say...Paris France for a week? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ -
Are the World Championships real?
JOHNNY_A replied to Ed from Kansas's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I would tend to agree with this comment. A number of corps have members that come from Japan and Europe to march. BD snare drummer...2nd in from the right is from Japan. I also think because the governing body of "DCI" is located in the USA that corps from outside must come their. However. Corps from outside the USA have won championships or placed well in their respective classes. Beatrix = Holland Yomato = Japan Kiwanis Kavaliers = Kitchener Ontario Canada Dutch Boy = Kithchener ontario Canada Canadian Knights = Peterburough Ontario Canada Venturers =Waterloo Ontario Canada Seneca Optomists = Toronto Ontario Canada Oakland Crusaders = Toronto Ontario Canada Acadamie Musicale = Quebec Canada Le Chatelaines=Quebec Canada Alllegiance Elite = Calgary Alberta Canada St. Andrew's = Cambridge Ontario Canada Rebels = Oshawa Ontario Canada St. John's Brantford Ontario Canada I do know the DCI opens up to the world to participate like Beatrix did last year. They allow foreign corps to compete with their own rules or DCI rules. If foreign corps opt to not travel to the USA that is their choice. Maybe call it the North American Drum Corps Association and Have the North American Championships -
Visual Warmup Before a Show
JOHNNY_A replied to Triple Forte's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Thank the 89 Cadets for the visual warm up. My fiance marched that year and it was added because the show was to long but they needed to keep it. So they just turned the begining of the show into a warm up. -
drum corps are not bands

It's getting to be very close. BUT, it is what it is. -
What do Synths do exactly?
JOHNNY_A replied to DeafDrummer's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Just the effect. Makes sounds that are hard to replicate ie, sirens, bangs, crashes, Sounds from a certain movie ie sirens from West Side Story (HNC). I think there were a few corps that used it minimally and effective. Others over used it to death like Spirit. -
If you are willing , eager and able to learn at a quick pace and are "easily" teachable it's easier than trying to teach others who are stuck in their ways and try and "change" the program. Even if they are a really good percussionist.

Blue Devils A and B 2009
-
Experience and the ability to mold you in to what they expect. You may not be a better vibe player than another guy trying out, but if someone like ScoJo from Devils thinks there is a lot of potential and you are easy to work with, he would take the lesser talented. Quoted from Buffalo System Blue Experience.

BIG TIME!!!

1st time that BDB and BDA have won their respective classes in the same year. Out of two hundred possible points between the two, the total score of both was 95.500 and 99.050 = 194.55. Highest total of an A and B corps in the same year.
-
They sit in the chairs for a grand total of about 20 seconds. They portrayed the era of 1930 to a "T". Hats off to the entire Blue Crew for an excellent season. Kudos to all the other corps as well. This was a tough season for all as far as weather and the rampant flu bug that traveled through most corps.

Dude. you say you have taught DIV 1-3????? and you still call a drum corps a "team" tsk tsk This thread will top 15 pages just for that comment and that comment alone will be the topic. Can you give examples of your findings or theory?

Can the Blue Devils break 99.15?
JOHNNY_A replied to kagario's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Mabey more realistically like this 1)BD 2)HNC 3)SCV 4)CC 5)Cavs 6)Boston 7)P.R. I can also see P.R. and Cru tying.
