  1. I think the fact that I was so disappointed by the abrupt ending to BK's clearly incomplete show is evidence of how much I was enjoying it.
  2. What a summer this will be. I'm so excited for all three WC corps I've seen tonight.
  3. Nope. I'm actually really impressed with the quality of the feed. We just need a sound engineer in the house.
  4. In other news, that ambulance chose an excellent time to drive by. Box 5, truly.
  5. For ####'s sake, DCI, turn down the gain! P.S.: Mr. Crocker played that oops off quite well. :P Fran Haring had a similar moment at DCA Finals last year. I wish they hadn't edited it off the CD; it was great!
  6. Get it Mandarins! I hope they get a late enough slot for me to see that live in ATL after loading our truck. I was thoroughly engaged and entertained.
  7. That was my first time seeing/hearing BDC, and I can look at it from a few different directions. 1.) I dig the idea of getting kids involved in drum corps so early. I think that age group is a good target demographic for people who want to make drum corps local again. 2.) They're freaking adorable. Greased Lightning was so cute. 3.) 7/4/6 battery with 16 horns? Why set them up for that kind of challenge with such a young and such a small group? 4.) Why were they on 3rd, after perennial Open Class contenders? I can imagine a few paying customers thinking, "Yeah, they're cute, but I didn't pay $30 for a cute trainwreck." Maybe that's just me.
  8. Can't wait to get back at it tonight! We've enjoyed our week of rehearsal at the beach.
  9. The shoulder shot has plenty of people thinking Javert, which I think I would love...
  10. Bluecoats win the 2013 uniform sweepstakes, in my opinion.
  11. Yep, at their preview show, they said ten years with the cream was enough, and for a new look they wanted to move as far away from the cream as possible. My thought? Mission accomplished. The full uni looks nice on the field, but since their preview show was in a gym due to weather, I was skeptical about it until I saw dress rehearsal photos. (Now back to your scheduled programming.)
  12. If you're interested in competing in CLASS ACT, an all-age fantasy circuit using DCA scores, contact gcurrier or post here pronto! It's minimal effort for some extra fun during the live seasons. He needs at least 10 corps to consider it.
  13. I found that strange, too. "They needed no words to express it." Yeah, and I need no words to understand it!
  14. I wonder if they're planning on taking the ballad narration out at some point later this season, after everyone already knows the story. That would be an interesting (and sneaky) way of helping late-season viewers understand the story with only music, drill, and guard. If they're not planning on taking it out, I hope they try to do a better voiceover.
  15. Screw it, I'm discarding all dignity here. This thread is teasing the ever-lovin crap outta me, so I will shamelessly beg for audio from whoever may be in possession. (I actually looked up whoever/whomever rules for this, and I think I have it right, maybepossiblysortakindanotsure).
  16. Traded in two pre-June 22 shows in for more shows in the last week or so, so I'm satisfied. Both of my groups had successful debuts to DCP-I XX, and now we'll go back into hiding for all of next week. See everyone at the beach!
  17. It completely slipped my mind that we're starting this far ahead of the DCI season. Slight schedule adjustment coming...
  18. Good luck to the DCA corps who are kicking off the season tomorrow!

  19. Count the Bibb City Brigade in. This is going to be a fantastic year for DCA.
  20. /thread Not every youth sports team gives a great deal of time, effort, blood, sweat, tears, etc., to what they do. I've never seen a drum corps (in my admittedly short time around the activity) at any level or in any circuit that didn't bust their collective arses for their show, no matter the final placement, so I almost always give a corps a standing O.
  21. Quite a feat, considering the center few are 5'6" max. :P
  22. Hoping the rain holds off long enough. I already got soaked to the bone loading CV's trailer earlier. The rain has all but stopped at the KFC across the street from GWU.
