  1. Great to hear. This corps and its members are hungry.
  2. As a member of the '00 edition of BAC, It brings a smile to my face when I see that this edition of BAC is remembered and even mentioned in a thread about Perfect shows. It was a magical night and it is something I will never forget. Hearing the crowd rev up as we were waiting for the live broadcast to begin was truly amazing and gave the corps that extra boost to perform an amazing show. For me however when I think of a perfect show, What comes to mind is a show that grabbed you and never let go, even 15 years later. What brought me into the Marching scene was BD and Cavies 95. Those two shows captivated me from the second I heard the recordings in 97. And where forever engraved in my brain when it was time for me to create comparisions in shows.
  3. Yes correct it is the purpose for the show.. For singing to occur not only from the performers but the entire audience to join in singing your own version of "Hopelandic". 5k + people singing will be awesomely powerful!
  4. This is confirmed.. IIRC there are only 4 seniors in the guard, Many Freshman in the Weapon line. Truly the staff is the best around and their hard work and their ability to make strong performers is unmatched. They where worried of not having as strong a year this year but that is certainly not the case.
  5. Massillion has always been a great for venue for BAC. that was the show before finals for a couple of years when I marched and the combination of the Astroturf and the overhang always made for a real loud and exciting show. I think the fact that Boston has consistently gone to that show every year while others havent has kinda made Boston a Hometown corps even though they are in Bluecoats country.
  6. Thanks for the info. I thought this was all speculation but seems like there really is a problem. But then again cant the turf be put down in a week? I remember 1 or 2 years hearing a story about the Patriots having Gilette Stadium re-turfed in 3 days in between the regular football season because the players where complaining about the sand pit in between the hashes. Cant really take that long to get the field back to normal.
  7. WE did this too in 04 during the orlando show. We practiced at a local high schoool and then got on the buses and went to our hotel rooms to sleep. The orlando area is notorious for not being drum corp friendly. Alot of the administrators that run the schools are against letting drum corps use their schools, or should I say sleep at them. hence, the fairgrounds being used as a housing site. My guess is, the bridges where burned during dci stay in Orlando from 96- 98 & 03
  8. Since when was Bloomington not ready? Wasnt the turf already put down? What else is keeping Bloomington from being Finals ready?
  9. I for one will stand and applaud all of the sound guys that come out in Flip flops this year. They are there to do their jobs not to please you or get approval for their attire while doing their job.
  10. Well that may be where the difference is. Drum Corps to me is not a business. It will never be. To me it is a celebration of Music and Marching that not too many people know about or are into. (outside of the corps world) If I where looking to make money out of DCI I would not be involved. If a guy wearing flip flops is going to stop you from going to enjoying Drum Corps then I dont know what is more important to you, Tradition or the activity. Most of the people involved with Drum Corps do it for themselves, not for the fans, judges or anyone else. So im sure that most of the sound guys (which in most cases are the pit instructors or someone on the Percussion staff) could care less if you find them visually appealing. The way I see if they are not directly harming you or affecting you then let it be.
  11. Disrespectful??? Come on Seriously??? You pretend like if the guy was wearing a shirt that said F- you on it. And Im a staff member and have been for several years. If I had to pretend like or act a certain way every second I was at a show I would not be teaching. Looking at that guy in the flip flop should remind you that the people who march, teach, behind the scenes, are regular people who choose to do this activity because it brings them joy. And not for people to judge them just because of what they are wearing. That guy in flip flops could have several masters in music, sound technology, etc... But you would never know because you have already passed judgment on him because of what he was wearing.
  12. LOL... Right Well ill bring my mini fridge so we can have some cold ones during the show.
  13. I think flip flops is fine, this guy is on tour everyday slaving away the idea of him having to dress up for you when your not supposed to be looking at him in the first place seems a little much to me. And Many of you have been members of Corps you know how the summer is. Its a football field!! not an Opera Hall. Do you want A/C too? How 'bout a nice reclining chair? Where will it end. It Raw, Athletic Drum Corp!
  14. yeah baby!! Nothing like home cooking to give BAC a boost. Those guys must be jonzing right now.
  15. hey just a question. I marched throughtout the '00's we "had disagreements" with a bunch of corps through my years so if you had a bad experience with boston then your not the only one. But that is in the past, the corp has changed for the better I think.
  16. Well to answer a couple of your questions, Jay Kennedy is the brass arranger. This is some of his best arranging to date for Boston. And Brian Murphy (St. Ann) is the drill designer and I'm not sure if he was involved directly with Blessed Sac when the did Ex 25 but im sure he was around to witness that show when they did it.
  17. Wasnt that the first time that MC saw Boston this year?? So you are saying she thinks they are having an "off night" compared to what?
  18. Ah #### you dont say!! What a shame. That place was awesome besides having to walk 1/2 a mile to the Buses in the middle of the neighborhood. This was a classic like the old Beverly show at the stadium without any lights and the Wall next to the stands on the east side. "the Shrine" that place will always hold a special place in my heart.
  19. The Erie show has always been one of my favorites. That stadium is so loud and the Astroturf (while old) is awesome nice and flat. The stadium is a concrete bowl and the stand are about 5 feet from the DM podium. It is always a treat to perform there.
  20. Horn Players, More specifically baritone players.
  21. She does have some big brass ones, I will give her that. She is going to be under a microscope for the rest of the season because of this one incident. And I hope for the good of DCI that she is truly being fair and that was honest assestment. Time will tell.
