Ugh.... try not to get too upset by this, but BD, more than any other corps, does indeed peak and get passed by other corps, probably more often than not. This is primarily because they come out of the gate so strong, and are very, very rarely defeated early in the season, and yet they obviously do not win every year. They still have more titles than anyone else, so one cant say the formula doesnt work. The combination of superior talent, very full winter / spring schedule, and formula that works have led to them being so successful out of the gate. BD has probably won about 50% of the regionals this decade, but only has 3 of 10 titles. Also consider the number of times they have fallen from 1st to 2nd or 3rd during finals week, and compare it to the number of times they have come from nowhere to win. Again...they still win more than anyone, but anyone who thinks that the Blue Devils, especially compared to other top corps, are the ones that benefit from an extra week are kidding themselves. That all said...i'm sure the staff at every corps will not wake up on august 9th and say "CRAP!!!....we have another week???!!!? But we made the show so stinkin easy on purpose so it would be clean like....yesterday?!?!?"

What I think (and dare to say) Is that people pushing the "BD is the great innovator in modern dci" argument are hilarious. I would explain myself, but i'm sure there are hundreds that could do it for me...

errherr.....learn to read maybe. First of all, crown is ahead of cadets in this ranking, so you obviously missed that part. Second of all, cadets beat crown for the first week or two of the season, so you managed to fail there as well Good Job!

Um common sense - if its been raining, and the shows cancelled, and its likely to start raining again, you dont wear your uniforms, even to a standstill. Ive done standstills in uniform and out of it, and the people cheered all the same. I know everyone likes to see the pretty colors and whatnot, but the benefit of that is not worth the risk of having 150 soaked uniforms...since the performance is going to be 'music-only' anyway.

Doubt it. The only thing really upsetting was the GE scores. In some subcaptions, crown is approaching the 90 percent range already. No offense, but thats a little ridiculous for july 2nd, and obviously it wont keep up. Cadets visual comp is better - execution is just way down, and the music scores were close. Honestly, we only have one show left with this system, then we'll see what happens. I dont really mind if crown wins, but I would like it to be a little closer....makes these evenings more entertaining....

I do think he should listen to more dumb things though. I mean seriously...if thats the dumbest he's heard???...he must be living in a bubble. He also must not have heard the cadets narration last year, or ever listenned to dan acheson try and speak at a public event.

Thats pretty much my point. You kept saying 08 had nothing to do with it, when it actually made perfect sense. crown getting HUGE props for music GE, and their performance numbers are still bad....a good sign for them edit...looks like cavies had a similar spead in music GE. Hmmmmm

So you base 95% percent of your predictions off of historical judging patterns...yet you ignore the most recent historical pattern with relation to the corps in question. You also ignored the fact that it took ZERO shows for crown to pass the cavies this year, which seems to fly in the face of history. As far as my being insulting, I'm no more insulting than the average dcp poster....i just dont pretend that Im being nice like most people do

And how long did it take for crown to beat the cavies this year?? They had to be better than them for like, 2 weeks, then finally at san antonio the judges 'made the call'. Wait, what - crown beat them the first time out?? and the second??? I also like that you downplay history in your last sentence, even though 'history' is the basis for your entire argument. Yeah... you answered your own question there bud. Crown IS performing better, their music IS more accessable (less so this year, but its still pretty well known), and yes, people just like them more based on the past. If they kept doing these kinds of shows for 5 years, things might change...

People probably hated it when you did it in the 60's too...they just didnt have a web forum to ##### and moan on. Dont take it too hard

Im trying to find the word to describe this...all I can come up with is "pathetic". I mean, I have no real problem with a corps that uses voice. I do have a problem with a corps that cant go one season without using voice - especially in a season where it was announced that it wouldnt be done... My least favorite kind of narration is the stuff added after the fact because they assumed people couldnt get it. Good lord cadets....I guess it was too much to hope for to have one year without talking. I guess we got 4 or 5 shows at least, and I was at one of them. Maybe I should be greatful - that might be the last time I ever seen a cadet corps without talking at the rate things are going...
