I saw BK at Stanford. Not the usual dark sound, but the show looked and sounded pretty good. It is interesting to see/hear two corps (BK and Carolina Crown) performing Nimrod from the Enigma Variations by Elgar (one of my favorite orchestral pieces). This show definitely connects with the audience and got the first solid standing ovation from the audience.

My daughter was one of the missing mellos...she is out for the rest of the season. She blew out her knee at Memorial Day Camp. We just got back to Texas and she starts PT tomorrow. She was pretty disappointed but we will cheer them on the rest of the season via Fan Network, Forums and Facebook.

That is a totally awesome tat...so cool!!!!!

Some of the Open Class Corps souvie booths follow their WC brothers on their tour, like BDB or SCVC. I don't know how the money is divied up?

Just a thought, I really believe it is more about schedule. If I am partying it up in Indy that week, I would have a hard time getting up early to watch the OC events and that is with a kid marching (so I would be there). If I am just a fan with no ties to OC I would be hard pressed to force myself out of bed before 10 a.m. eben with the free tickets...

Since the name of the topic is "Some Season ending thoughts, " and not really in the mood to get into all the controversy and drama, I just thought I would add some thoughts off topic: First, as a Blue Devils fan, congratulations to Blue Devils A and Blue Devils B for their sweep this year. What an exciting season it has been (and Blue Devils C for always presenting an entertaining show that leaves everyone smiling). Second, thank you Crown, HN Cadets, Cavies, Vanguard, Blue Coats, Blue Stars, PR and the rest of the corps for giving me some truly great listening and visual moments live and on the Fan Network. Third: Thanks to all the corps, both WC and OC for making this season so incredibly fantastic. Some real OMG, goosebump moments happening. Fourth: Great job Troopers. Glad to see you in the Finals. Finally: I am really looking forward to next year.

Though I am soooo excited about BDB's gold this year, I wanted to send a shout out to VK. It is so great to have you back. I missed the converse (though I think I remember red Vans at one time) and I missed the sheer enjoyment of a great show that doesn't have to take itself too seriously and still be competitve. You guys did a great job this year and I look forward to see what you have in store for next year.

Congratulation SCVC! Thank you for a truly entertaining show with music that brought me back to my youth, school dances and great memories.

Very well spoken. As I have read from many who post here, as well as, other forums, drum corps was a life changing event for them. Thanks to the Blue Devils organization for giving my daughter, as well as many others' daughters and sons, a place to grow as an individual and musically. Congrats to BDC, BDB, and BDA for an outstanding drum corps season!!! And a shout out to my daughter Ryann, I am very proud of you.

I know....my daughter said she was shaking from nerves before the announcement, then shaking from happiness and disbelief after the announcement. I feel so great for all of them. I will be at the hall tomorrow with ballons and posters welcoming them back. She's on the last flight in....Thank goodness she graduated from high school this year so we don't have to cruise like mad to get back to Texas. Last year, we left on Monday so we could get there by Tuesday so we could register her by Wednesday. She started school the following week totally exhausted...LOL.

Thanks for your thoughts and in about a week or so it will be back to a normal lifestyle so see ya next Spring if not sooner.

If this has already been said, I will apologize now for being redundant, but I am having time-out issues trying to keep the forum loaded tonight...lots of folks on and that is a good thing. With that being said, wouldn't it be great if they had let the Open Class Champs perform during this time, right before the awards, rather than first on the docket for WC finals. This would be a prime time since the staduim has a the most attendance towards the end. I mean, I love the fact that they get to perform exhibition at WC Finals and wouldn't want that to change, but performing for a huge audience would be the cherry on the top of an incredible season for an Open Class corps. JUst my two cents worth. Also: Congrats to all the corps for providing a most exciting drum corps season. and Congratulations to the whole Blue Devils organization for their two gold medals today. What an accomplishment!

I am so glad the Open Corps get to play exhibition for the WC Championships...I just wish they would schedule it right before the Awards Ceremony to get the most numbers in the stands. Sort of like having the National Anthem late for the same reason. I mean the kids just won their division and Open Class, who are always very entertaining, has been very good competitively, these last few years. Just my opinion.

Thank you...talked to my daughter and she was so excited about everything. It had been a long journey from last year's silver to today for her. Congrats to the other corps also for making it a super season in Open Class.

Thanks Bob...I just texted her your message...She called me after they were in the buses and said she was ecstatic and exhausted at the same time. They were going to take a break and have an after dinner block. They are really fired up for tomorrow.....
