bucsbassdrum9703 replied to kevingamin's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
ive really enjoyed the play by play all day. This is when i miss marching the most, maybe one day again but by todays dca ages i would be an old guy at 34. Plus i dont know if my back will hold up playing bottom bass and i dont want to play anything other then that -
People who have influenced you?
bucsbassdrum9703 replied to BrassMan09's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
i've had a few instructors who have really influenced me over the years dan delong, rich hammond, chris feist, eric kitchenman all great instructors that have had an impact on my ears marching..and of course my family..without that i would have never known about drum corps and marched around the house when i was young listening to old corps records. then being able to march with my dad and brother was the best experience ever -
Bushwackers Announce their 2013 Program!
bucsbassdrum9703 replied to Bushwackers's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
loved the stacked bass drums. remember watching prelims in scranton those years. i was only 13 and 14 years old but the bush drumline and other drumlines of that time really got me interested in drumming and thinking about marching. -
from experience marching with the bucs.. i believe what has led to their success started in 96.. the corps made their way back into finals and had a plan to improve. when 98 came also came a new staff in the drumline and a shift in how things were done..each year since then it changed slightly and grew into what you have today..years of hard work and effort by the members and staff before the streak is why reading is where they are today

i won't make a prediction but i will say this the bucs in my opinion after seeing the show this past weekend will be stronger then last year. the staff change has not hurt them.. the show flows much better and it's one of my favorites. the corps as a whole is very good. enjoy the show

While i cannot write much of a review since i was performing with the Buccaneer Alumni, This is what i can tell you about. I saw one corps tonight and that was the 2012 Buccaneers competing corps..My first thought was look at those drums..being a drummer of course.. the new drums this year have a blue finish on the upper shell that fades to black to the bottom..very nice. The Corps was for the most part full tonight with a few here and there missing. Every song was great and provided great power and dynamics. The drumline is going to be another great one its new and fresh and the arranging is some of the best i've seen in a dca corps. i loved the ballad as i think will most people will this summer. but the closer. 1812 wow its just wow. i think what the Buccaneers are doing with this years so is going to set another new bench mark for other corps to try to reach. personally with all the championships they have won in the past 7 years...this may be my favorite show out of all of them..i hope someone can come on here and give a better review..these are just my thoughts of what i saw just a few hours ago. i hope everyone is ready to enjoy this DCA season.

i never marched and won a championship but i consider being able to march with my dad 97-99 and my brother 98,99,02 one of the greatest things i have ever down..it's an amazing experience being able to march with your actual family..the whole corps always will be my family. One thing i will never forget as well is the first year i marched in 97 with my dad. he marched previously with the Jr. Buccaneers and 1 year with the Brookhaven crusaders. back then he didn't know how to read music..was never taught to him. i taught him the basics in 97 and it was so great being able to help him get into the corps he always wanted to march in. he was in the cymbal line for three years and 98 and 99 were some good ones..along with the bucs cymbal line since. such a great experience being part of a great organization. i hope one day i will be able to march with my kids as well..long time to go and a lot can happen..but if they would march bucs they would be 4th generation...has that ever been done?

Could you have marched somewhere else?
bucsbassdrum9703 replied to JimF-LowBari's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
There was only one Corps i ever wanted to march with..The bucs mainly because of the area i lived in and the fact my grandfather marched there. So in 1997 i hitched a ride with my High School shop teacher and eventually we added to our group and my dad came along as well. i had chance to go to other corps to march but never considered it. I will always bleed blue. Not sure what the activity will be like in 10,11 years but i would love if my kids could be 4th generation buccaneers -
Cadets 2 Announcement
bucsbassdrum9703 replied to jkmummer's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
being a member of the bucs during some turn around years i know them as a corps very well.. they will be here and come out strong..the way the organization is run, everything will be just fine..this whole process of the bucs started in 96,97 and each year was refined until you what you see today. not many people know but rich was with the corps in 97 as well then came back in 02. 97 was a totally different time though..the hardest year i ever had to march -
2010 Buccaneer Alumni Corps Membership Day!
bucsbassdrum9703 replied to KrissyMc's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
While i'm not sure i will be there for membership night, i will be a member of the alumni in 2010. I'm going to enjoy the chance to play again without the full time commitments of the competing corps. i enjoy spending time with my kids in the summer and can't give that up. -
Coming from DCI to DCA...
bucsbassdrum9703 replied to SF2K4's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
i marched in dca for 7 years 97-03. i never marched with a dci corps but what i can tell you is there are many quality drumc corps in dca. from the time i started to when i finished till now every corps is that much better. there are a few that resemble dci corps in their performance and practice styles. there are those who are more traditional style dca corps and more relaxed drill and music wise. anyone you choose though would be a great experience. i've had the best experiences marching in dca and i never second guess myself about not choosing to march in a dci corps. i've learned alot and met so many friends of different ages. where else can you go and get to march with your dad and brother in the same place at the same time. i was lucky enough to do that a couple years. i am a little biased for which corps i would choose to march with because of my family history etc. but whatever you choose you will have a blast. -
