  1. Agreed. This is really effective if you ask me.
  2. How often does this happen? I was looking at Phantom's site and they said that conductor spots are open to everyone and it got me thinking, how often do we see rookies at the drum major position? I'd assume it's pretty rare, even for the assistant conductor(s).
  3. Pretty much what I did. Only one I missed was 1999, didn't know how to put both in.
  4. When does it not? But really though. I know I'm a minority here, but I loved 2007 finals. And maybe it's me being me, but I'm in love with the Rose Bowl. Triple Crown + Rose Bowl = Goosebumps for days and days. Let's keep going west!
  5. What would I be expecting in terms of dues? Pioneer in particular, but I'd like some good benchmarks all around if possible. I'm just trying to crunch some numbers here. I'm just not sure it'll be financially feasible for me until I get into college for a year. Even a Greyhound to Milwaukee is $100 and a flight is $150. I have a job, but I'm also paying for a $500 spring trip with the band and $1000 for car insurance. I'm saving as much as I can. And just an FYI, it'd be next year for me.
  6. Can't beat the uniform either! Go up to a Phantom Regiment member and show em' some real chevrons.
  7. The SCV section shirts are awesome. I have the cymbal one myself.
  8. Awwww. My band camp starts the week of finals and I can't make that up. Please do this next year!
  9. Music City just getting edged by 7th Regiment will probably stand out to me most. That could've gone either way IMO. Coin flip.
  10. Yep, still director and still runs the Drum Major Academy. What a great experience. Best part of my summer. Great guy. If it weren't for UMass being a thousand miles away or so and Out of State tuition... And UMass' drumline is a DCI farm. IIRC, they had over half of the line march last year.
  11. I was under the impression that nobody paid PBS for broadcasting and PBS just kinda took what was offered. Maybe I'm completely wrong.
  12. Tennessee? Yeah, it's a stretch, considering the location of an overwhelming majority of the corps, but bah. It'll be fun. In Nashville, there's Vanderbilt Stadium. In Murfreesboro, there's Floyd Stadium. In Chattanooga, there's Finley Stadium. Finley Stadium In Memphis, the Liberty Bowl. That's about it, but they are all AWESOME stadiums for marching. I've marched in all 4 in my HS years of marching band.
  13. Ending this announcement weekend, The Cosmonauts are proud to present their program for Season XII... Looking Back: A Love Story From Oasis Explore the great power of love and the great music of British band Oasis as The Cosmonauts play arrangements of the very best staples of Oasis' repertoire. All of the music promotes a brilliant foray into non-traditional marching music, with the softest and sweetest of ballads and the most musical and awe-inspiring of anthems. All of this great music provides a backdrop to a love story between two star-crossed lovers, teenagers with melting and melding hearts. The program's repertoire will feature selections from: -"Champagne Supernova" -"Wonderwall" -"Don't Look Back in Anger" -"Live Forever" -"Slide Away" -"D'You Know What I Mean?" -"Stop Crying Your Heart Out" Enjoy the shows! I know that these kids will!
  14. Next up this afternoon, we have the announcement for The Patriots. After a topsy-turvy season, with the young corps going from 1st to out of finals competition over the season, they're looking to make a resurgence into Open Class Top 12 competition. To do this, corps leadership decided to take this show in a different direction. On that, I'm proud to announce The Patriots' Season XIII program... A Different Shade of Blue The Patriots are going jazzy, baby! The Patriots will be performing American Jazz standards on their fiery G Bugles. If you want to be taken back to the old days of drum corps, you will surely want to see this show! The 128 strong from Philadelphia will be glad to serenade you to days when things were a little...bluer. Selections from the following classics will be featured in our repertoire: -"Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin -"Blue Rondo a la Turk" by Dave Brubeck Quartet -"C Jam Blues" by Duke Ellington -"Serenade in Blue" by Harry Warren -"St. Louis Blues March" by Duke Ellington And we still have one more corps to go! Get ready for The Cosmonauts, as they announce their Season XIII program!
  15. Announcement weekends begins, albeit late! For the time being, all announcements will be purely of repertoires. New uniforms, equipment partnerships and corps membership numbers are forthcoming. But for the time being, let's start with the now unnamed Class A corps of Cold War Productions! The first announcement is the name change for Human Wave Regiment. The Class A corps from Tulsa, Oklahoma will now be known as... The Iron Curtain Many thanks to Ex VK DM for suggesting the name. It is a good name for a Cold War Productions corps. And it's especially fitting, since The Patriots represent "The West" and The Cosmonauts represent "The East". So, without further ado, I present to you the Season XIII program for The Iron Curtain... East and West: A Cold War Heats Up Too play off of the new name, the corps leadership have decided to go into this direction. In East and West, World War III becomes a reality as the Soviet Union battles the United States in a war to end all wars. The three movements of the show represent the three fronts of the war, each contributing their own side of the culture of WWIII: Europe, America and Russia. Experience fierce, vibrant music, cultural music that defines the social era, and the most beautiful of ballads to serenade even the hardest hearts. An artistic experience will unfold for those that choose to watch. Mvt. I (America): Bob Dylan - The Times They Are a-Changin' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgECKj9LSH4 Mvt. II (Russia): Selections from Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony http://www.last.fm/music/Dmitri%2520Shosta...ac=Shostakovich Mvt. III (Europe-Aftermath): Chopin's Nocturne in EbM, Op.9 No.2 Stay tuned, later today, we'll hear from the directors of The Patriots and The Cosmonauts as they announce their repertoires!
  16. Cold War Productions has finalized all revisions for their Season XIII programs. In case you can't wait for this Saturday, I'll go ahead and give you some clues. I will give you 4 pictures. 3 relate to repertoires by a CWP corps this year. Try to guess!
  17. VK always reminds me of scatter bands. As in, they're AWESOME.
  18. Has anyone been on the DCPI site lately? It looks like it's being spammed/hacked pretty badly. The page is covered from head to toe with links to some pharmaceutical site. Hope it's something easily solved.
  19. Crown 07. That quartet intro and the fanfare, it's all sexy.
  20. I second Southwind 2000. Awesome show.
  21. Hey, Hale Stadium! I love The Hole! I really wish TSU would still play there.
  22. Huh, didn't know that You'll Never Walk Alone was anyone's corps song. Beautiful song.
  23. Like he hostrauser said above, 8two5 is a good place but I don't know if they're still doing requests. I also do uniforms. I use a template by Phoenixfire (and a modified shako-less template of my own) to make mine. http://s700.photobucket.com/albums/ww8/Bow...signs/Uniforms/ If you would like me to try my hand at a uniform, PM me with ideas.
