Even though I rarely read DCP anymore...very glad I checked back to clear it up! Dana - I have been thinking of riding down to a practice to say hey. We'll see :)

Drama? It says what it means. I marched gold every other year, due to logistics and time. And I can't this year, therefore I miss Gold. I know that Gold alum post here, figured I'd see who all turned up. DCP does have a drama problem if my post was taken in a negative way. If it's because of the title, I typed none in the topic line, not realizing it would be right behind "I miss Gold"

That's my public service announcement.

Couldn't find anywhere else to put this quickly. Anybody have a easy fail safe way to line a field? My main problem is squaring it.

Pretty sure that was in the original topic about this when is seemed to be a big deal 8 months ago...

i think that bucs have some from previous years. i've also had some pictures enlarged from camera shots i took that are pretty good.

I agree with not using stands.....i used one for the first part of the season last year (150 pound skinny guy carrying bottom didn't work sometimes) and then finals weekend i used one as much as possible....then again i had a broken collarbone so i guess that's an excuse

I think at gold we went into pre lims at 13th (correct me if i am wrong) to finishing 8th in 05.

I joined gold in my final year of being eligible for Junior corps. Broken ankle kept me from marching the year before, and then starting to teach and not wanting to loose that for the summer put me at Gold. Great experience, and now i'm marching with 15-45 year olds. Great times, sometimes it puts people in interesting situations, but i think it's great. You get a good mix of people and experience.

I can see the argument either way. We played our leaving the field. But there is no greater feeling than giving your 100% of the field....then the crowd giving you everything they have when you walk by. Kingston comes to mind..

We played coming off at prelims and finals...then at retreat.

I'm agreeing with jeff. Maybe with A do 5 or so, then again i don't many problems with how it's going now. Unless open gets to around 18 or so i say stick to 10. Otherwise what's the big deal about making finals...if everybody makes finals.

One thing to take into account when you speak of the 3 point spread. Southern corps aren't able to compete in as many shows as northern corps. Therefore it is easier for their scores to go up higher. We had 5-6 point jumps at most of our shows, but if we had went to 5-9 shows our score would have been higher than it was at finals probably. Buccaneers had 7 shows (using them as an example). 7 shows for their score to improve. We had 3 plus finals weekend. Simple math. I also am not saying if we had been to that many shows we would have won...blah blah blah. Just saying it's easier to score higher with more shows. (pre-warning for all dcp hounds)

Thank you govenaires for the serenade before we did our encore...it was great to be greeted by that coming off the field. And to the two "lovely ladies" i met before we both left for our hotels/home. DCA is locally rooted in the northeast. I know a lot of corps there where you drive and meet up at the housing site. For those of us in the southern part...tour buses. So the gas thing will affect us as well.
