  1. 2009. Strongest top 5 ever BY FAR. Vanguard with one of the fan-favorite shows that was beautiful and clean clean clean. Cavaliers with a creative departure from their norm, with a kickin' brass and percussion section and a fantastic-as-always guard. Cadets with a traditional show that just screamed "drum corps" with great sections all around and very entertaining and clean moments. Crown with a creative show that was truly a fan favorite, an UNREAL hornline coupled with an absolutely insane percussion section, and an overall beautiful production. Blue Devils with their most clean show ever, an INCREDIBLE visual program, and attitude that echoed for miles. Oh, and that drumline was pretty good too :). Yeah, 09, no contest.
  2. I'm scared Cadets would butcher the piece. Not a big fan of Bocook's drum corps arrangements recently.
  3. Asphalt Cocktail is a really cool new piece by John Mackey. As such, I don't think many groups have played it, as it is quite difficult, and was only premiered earlier this year. (?) I could see Bluecoats or Crown doing it really well.
  4. I couldn't get 94 unless I typed "Devils" because you spelled it BULE DEVILS instead of BLUE.
  5. He's not in college yet, so he can't do that. Oh, and WHAT HAPPENS ON THE MOTHER ####IN' BUS, STAYS ON THE MOTHER ####IN' BUS. aaaaand Back of the Bus SUCKS.
  6. Wow, listening to these shows me how ahead of the game Crown's hornline was...and how ridiculous BD's drumline was. Phantom sounds really good too, and the Cadets make me happy.
  7. Crown played "Dance of the Tumblers" by Rimsky-Korsakov this year as an encore tune, with no watering down of parts. Piece was hard as ####. And that hornline played the hell out of it.
  8. I get that the first statement is pretty out there, but the 2nd one is pretty accurate, imo.
  9. Yeah, what you said. 007, Summertrain, Scheherazade, Bohemia...lots of shows to like that summer. Strongest top 3 ever, imho, maybe besides 2009.
  10. Maybe not percussion, but I've only heard 1 Regiment hornline in the past 8 years or so that I liked or thought played well.
  11. I'll be a little more detailed and provide some more of the things I'll remember. I'll remember Crown's hornline and how phenomenal they were. I'll remember having to make the hardest decision of my entire life. I'll remember how incredible BD was visually. I'll remember how overrated Vanguard's show was and how underrated their hornline was. I'll remember how fun it was watching the Cadets and Crown battle it out all season. I'll remember Boston entertaining me for the first time in years. I'll remember Phantom staying together and having pride even though they had a very rough year. I'll remember how this was the first time I noticed how truly good the Blue Stars are. I'll remember how no matter how good this year was for corps, certain older alumni of drum corps are going to try as hard as they can to be the death of modern drum corps because they want things to return to "the old way".
  12. This. Should have won drums. I'll remember BD's amazing foot technique and visual cleanliness. I'll remember Carolina Crown's hornline as being one of if not the best in the past 10 years.
  13. Crown and BD have exactly the same technique. Its just taking Crown a while to be as good at it as BD...which is understandable, the Devils are phenomenal at everything.
  14. I'd like to see Crown and BD battle it out for the title, with SCV or Cadets taking a distant third.
  15. There's a reason they won brass all 3 nights finals week.
  16. Actually, they were crab stepping at 256 bpm. BD's show was just as hard as everyone else's. Get over it, jeez, they were clean as ####.
  17. The second time they went in double time it was at 256.
  18. You're taking what I said out of context. I'm saying, in my opinion*****, in 2010, the title will be between Devs and Crown. Thats not to say that Cadets, Cavaliers, or Regiment/SCV won't win in another year, or they won't win IN 2010, I'm just saying that I THINK that it will be just Devs and Crown in 2010.
  19. I have noticed that Regiment adopted the BD/Crown straight leg jazz run in 08. Looks good. Edit* - And by straight-leg, I mean minimal plie. There is more plie the larger the step size, and less the smaller the step size. Ankles as low to the ground as possible on the passthrough.
  20. Well, BD and Crown will be vying for the championship (and I don't think any corps besides those 2 really will be able to overtake them), and Cadets, Cavaliers, Vanguard, and Phantom will all be in the mix for top 3/5. I don't think that Crossmen really have a shot at finals, but if I had to pick a corps out, it'd be Blue Knights. Their programs will be outdone over the next few years by some previously lower placing corps...in my opinion.
