  1. I just think it would be nice to have the field closer, to make it more exciting for the corps members when coming in
  2. why dont they move the lines up closer to the stands? I saw someone write in a thread saying when coming into the stadium it is anticlimactic because the stand are so far away. Last year in DCI at Bloomington was perfect becauase how close the stands were, DCA should follow suite with the idea of drum corps blowing your face off... just food for thought
  3. Some corps dont march 150 though thats the thing and some kids maybe excluded, but this might increase the likely hood of of a brass alternate being able to be in the show if they happen to audition for the Synth parts also. That is all I was trying to say... sorry if it wasnt clear No matter what Sythns are probably staying in DCI and we all need just "get used to it" just think of it it as a musical enhancement. No one is going to play Mr. Robotto and be cheesy about it. I am done with this topic no matter what no one will happy, people will always make excuses why we shouldnt make changes and also why we should. Peace!!
  4. I'm actually talking about the corps that are not up to 150 yet. But on the bigger side of corps Last year Bluecoats got all their alternates in one way or another too, and it helped with the overall effect of the show. How did the boxers and referee work? were the considered props or color guard?
  5. did Paccosso listen to any ones rules?? Like I said no matter what toes are going to be stepped on no matter what...unfortunately
  6. no matter what no one will be happy....Why restrict creativity(seems counter productive)? Let them play and leave them alone! This gives more kids the chance to March DCI, a few years ago that would be thought to be impossible. This could also possibly allow alternates to get in the show, nothing hurts worse than invest all that time and never get to see the field. :
  7. one thing that I would like to see is special lighting effects are permitted, like in a theater. This would allow more detail, mood, ect. to the overall show concept. I dont think anyone has ever have seen this in any other marching activity. But financially could be a very bad move...
  8. I believe the board of directors should be made up the original 1972 corps(that are still in existence)
  9. On the bright side of things I will get to go to western Michigan university in the fall instead of going to community college, and start studying music(hopefully). I am doing Lakeshoremen(sr. corps in Michigan) at least. I just miss the intensity of jr corps especially troopers!
  10. I really wish I could go! To bad I live in Michigan. I miss troop so much Real life sucks!!
  11. And what if the judges aren't doing their job?
  12. What if staging sucks, for the soloist and are facing the backfield corner of the stadium?
  13. Does that mean each corps would get some of the profits?
  14. just go buy your self some Wrights Silver polish! Pretty much all the Jr. corps use it :)
  15. I saw the colts first performance to the public on the fan network. In their Ballad I like the use of synthesizers, it is done very tastefully. All I care is that the synthesizers will not cover up the hornline, and not be cheesey
  16. I have a question for everyone. What kind of music do you want hear brass ensembles play at I&E? I want to know what everyone thinks because I am going to be in a brass ensemble for I&E and I want pick music that would interest the crowd the most. I am thinking about coming up with an original piece of some classical works combine into like modern drum corps, but I am afraid that we might get some weird looks. Discuss and answer the question!
  17. IMO Yamaha hornlines sound the best. Corps like Cavies, Cadets, Crown, Bluecoats, and Troopers sound great with the horns they have. I know for trumpet players it is really easy for them to switch horns because a lot of kids are already on XENOs for concert band and orchestra. I personally didnt like the sound for Jupiter horns last year at all. This is strictly my opinion so don't be offended.
  18. if you are taking the summer off of jr corps you always have the option to do sr. corps on the weekends. This way you can still hold down a full time job, and at least not be out practice marching. Right now Im marching Lakeshoremen and during the week I am working at U OF M M-F 40 hours a week. But I doubt that will get to march jr corps within the next two years because we all have to grow up eventually...
  19. definitely Troopers! I really wish I could of marched this year!
  20. if you attend all of the camps in Nov-Feb that is when they offer the contracts generally. They want to see how you progress over the course of the winter. I know for troopers at least last year it was $1,500 for a regular marching memebers, and $1,000 for alternates. But on top of that you have to count all the plane tickets, bus tickets, and even train tickets, trying to find the cheapest way to get to camp.
