  1. HAHAHA! Awesome! oh, and did i mention
  2. Maybe I'm biased, but you'd be missing out on a lot of good drum corps if you ignored 05 and 07. Just go into it with an open heart Look, in 07 I got fed up with the narration about half way through the season.. mainly because the narration covered up the pit features lol. but if you look past that, there are some great moments of "higher, faster, louder"
  3. We used these things called Joia Tubes. Look them up. They're quite cumbersome, and not really meant for outdoors. Cool for indoors though, and educational things.
  4. I marched Cadets pit 06. It was a good time, pit writing was great! As a rookie in 06, I was excited to go to the music from 05 to open the show, but from a design standpoint that was an extremely well crafted show. It was a little too artsy-fartsy to be considered effective, but not in the Star 93 kind of way. Judges didn't understand the concept was an understatement. Judges are being forced to deal with things like narrations and sound effects now, so perhaps they're getting used to inviting it as a part of a show. What happened was the judges just weren't listening to the lyrics to the song. At the same time, imagine a first time drum corps viewer, who has never seen the 05 show, let alone understood it and then understood the drill moves in our 06 ballad that refer back to 05. Not a chance. 2007, we were out for blood though! Anyone still out there that things Cadets should have had number 10 in 2007? :)
  5. is this a joke? lol check out the latest Field pass about their new ending http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=127660
  6. why is it not up on DCI yet? i feel these are unofficial!!
  7. there's still plenty of time! it's not even ATL time yet... jeez! :)
  8. They could make a song out of that... hmm see Madonna - 4 minutes
  9. I know him! He went to my school (New England Conservatory) for a while, then transferred to Juilliard.
  10. You're forgetting that he's an alumn himself. He used YEA! to help them out of some serious financial trouble. The whole premise there was that it was a means to an end. When the XMen were ready, they would split from YEA! again. Given all that he has done to HELP the corps, plus his stature in the drum corps world (being one of the most successful alumns of bones), it seems only fitting to have him enter the HOF.
  11. yeah, they've been really honest with field pass and must have then been very honest with the corps, and it was probably a hard pill for them to swallow, but they're most definitely ready for the challenge. this is definitely a different kind of educational experience than they originally signed up for, but they're good for it
  12. "GET A KID HOOKED ON DRUM CORPS!" HA, what a great tag line... as if it's crack or something
  13. So after listening to the latest DCI Field Pass, I am left wondering if the changes they make to their visual package (and a bit of music in the 4th tune) will make a huge difference for the corps. The music and effects might be better, but will they be clean enough to edge them up a couple of places, or a couple of points? I have my hopes set for other corps to win (see below), but still I am thinking of the members on this one. Sure, their heads must be spinning with new information, but how must it feel to be going into the last two weeks like this? We're all pulling for you, Phantom. Make the most of it, age outs! btw, dcp, this is my first thread!
  14. Agreed. However, I personally think The Cadets might come up with something... :) but that's just me.
  15. I think most people from the 80s 90s and 00s have found each other on Facebook. there is a group called Cadets - past and present that many people esp from the 80s have found each other. Thus the beauty of Facebook!
  16. Just to set the record straight, or to add a little factoid to the topic, Tom Aungst himself has said that the Cadets are like the NY Yankees. Mind you, he said this to a percussion section full of Red Sox fans lol. He himself is kind of a Red Sox fan, but mostly a Phillies fan. His point was that the NYY are known for class and hard work and year after year, people expect them to be the best. Source: I was there in 2006, spring training, Buckhannon, WV.
