  1. I have a different perspective. I believe Crown was beaten because they did not get a "perfect" score where they deserved it, namely GE music, Brass, and Music Analysis.
  2. Let me clarify...I did not say anything about the show winning. I did not say it was cleaner than BD. What I said was that it was the most technical show in the history of DCI. I stand by this statement.
  3. There are few who can say it better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Their show was the best in technical detail in the history of the activity so far. Got a negative one already. People dislike the truth :).
  4. I would have been more than willing to say that BD was "perfect" in some captions, if they had the same respect and willingness to give Crown the same in the captions in which they deserved it.
  5. Peaking a composer's interest in Drum Corps is the ultimate compliment. I think it would be something if Mr. Moren composed something specifically for Crown to play in the future.
  6. 2007 Crown 1984 Cadets 1987 Cadets 2008 Crown 2011 Crown 2011 Cadets 1988 BD 1989 BD 2011 Spirit 1992 BD 1996 BD 2005 Bluecoats 1989 SCV 1991 SCV 1992 SCV 1991 Phantom 2011 Blue Knights 2012 SCV 1992 Crossmen 1990 Velvet Knights Just to name a few.
  7. Many of us may have marched in a Drum Corps, but what shows have you seen and said to yourself: "I really wish I could have marched that show?"
  8. I never said they did. I was speaking to fairness of judging. Not to the issue of Crown winning.
  9. I'm not the one that gave it and would never give it. I am speaking about the issue of fairness in the judical process. Admitting there is none and saying it can't be fixed is a somewhat unsatisfying conclusion.
  10. I am not bitter at Crown's loss. The comment goes to fairness in DCI judging. If BD deserved perfect scores in GE visual, Visual analysis, and Guard, then Crown deserves them in GE music, Brass, and Music Analysis. Because BD was no where near Crown is Brass at all this year!!! Sorry. It is truth. Crown had the best hornline in DCI history this year. Nuff said.
  11. Then don't give a perfect score to anyone. It amazes me that some people are saying that judical favoritism is just the way it is. I don't see BD getting a perfect score in any caption.
  12. Well then the numbers management seems to be an unfair system that suggests favoritism.
  13. Then you and I will disagree. Crown should have scored a 20 in GE music, Brass, and music analysis.
  14. BD winning perfect scores in some captions and Crown not seems to demonstrate intentional slotting by the judges last night. There is little reason to believe that BD should have gotten 20s in GE visual, Visual Analysis, and Color Guard and Crown not receiving 20s in GE music, Brass, and Music Analysis. Conclusion: slotting. Crown was never given a real chance to win.
  15. I am so proud of Crown this year for the production they put on the field. They are to be commended for succeeding in challenging themselves in every aspect of this activity from beginning to end. I want to apologize for the judges who treated you unfairly for not giving you perfect scores in GE music, Brass, and Music analysis. But, fans and alumni know who they will be listening to more and I do not believe it will be the corps who won last night.
  16. The issue for me is not whether Crown should have won rather than BD. It is a question of fairness. If BD really deserved 20s in some captions, then so did crown. GE music, Brass, and Music analysis deserved perfect scores and Crown did not get them.
  17. I will not debate whether Crown should have won. I will debate, however, on the issue of fairness. If BD gets perfect scores in some visual categories, then Crown should have received perfect scores in GE music, Brass, and Music Analysis.
  18. I would relax into the day. Light rehearsals. Go over just the things that need the most cleaning. I would actually have the corp watching their performance from quarters and semis and talk about what the season has meant to them. Then go and win finals tonight.
  19. The Cavies victims this year are the members. The staff are not top 3 caliber.
  20. Whether I am entertained or not by what they are playing, Crown has the best hornline in the history of DCI right now from a technical and tone quality standpoint. I will defend this "opinion" heavily. There would need to be strong evidence to the contrary. Are there corps tha entertain me more than Crown this year? Yes! But the hornline is the best the activity has EVER seen to date.
  21. Does anyone know the scores for SCV, Cadets, and Phantom?
  22. Ok...as I replied to Jeff. You are more likely than not to place in the top 5 by marching either BD, Cavies, or Cadets historically. With the history of BD and Cadets, they do hit home runs every year. Cadets have missed the top 5 only one time in almost 30 years, Kasey. And the year they did miss it (1991), it was by a tenth. BD has placed in the top five just as long. So, yes. I would say these two corps hit home runs every year with their show designs, whether I personally like them or not.
  23. Tell that to the Cadets and BD. The last time the Cadets were out of the top five was 1991 and they missed it by a tenth. The last time BD was out of the top five was...I don't really know off the top of my head, but it's been a LONG time. History from the last two decades is a good bet to those who are thinking about going to a corps that traditionally places in the top 5. I will agree that most corps can't give you the guarantee but the Cavies, BD, and Cadets are really a good bet on which to place your money if you want to march top 5.
