Thomas A. Brown has many years as a performer, instructor and judge in the Pageantry Arts. His was introduced to the activity in 1968 as a member of the George Washington Carver American Legion Post 962 Drill Team. In 1970 Mr. Brown became a member of the, Reading Buccaneers Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps where he spent many years as a member of the color guard and rifle section. He also was part of the percussion section as a mallet player. In his later years with the Buccaneers, Mr. Brown served on the visual staff as a marching tech. In 2000 Mr. Brown was inducted into the Reading Buccaneer Hall of Fame.
As an instructor Mr. Brown had the opportunity to work with several award winning High School Marching Band programs in Southeastern and Central Pennsylvania. The list includes Reading High School, Governor Mifflin High School, Hatboro Horsham High School, Emmaus High School, Wissahickon High School and Lancaster Catholic High School. In the drum and bugle corps arena, besides being on staff with the Reading Buccaneers, Mr. Brown had stops at the Chieftains Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps, Jersey Surf and Magic of Orlando.
Mr. Brown began adjudicating back in 1985 with Cavalcade of Bands as a Visual Judge. Since that time Thomas A. Brown has affiliations with several judging associations including DCA, USSBA, NYSFBC, NJA, KIDA, CIDA, ABODA and Mid-Atlantic Judges Association just to name a few. Mr. Brown has been on many Championship Panels over the years and was Judging Coordinator for Cavalcade of Bands from 2003 to 2005 before stepping down to move to Arizona where he currently resides. Mr. Brown is employed by GTECH Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona working in the Information Technology Department.
