  1. I may be wrong, but isn't alot of that bending really the sound of the loud synthesizers in the pit?
  2. Hating on the future of DCI and disco. I bet you never have laid your hands on a tambourine, swinging to beat of a disco superstar like Donna Summer or ABBA, or Chic, or the Bee Gees. That's not a good look to have about yourself. Just because YOU hate both of them, so what.
  3. Tonight's show was I think the best weather ever for The exSightment of Sound. Breezy and not too humid at all. Maybe mid 70's. Perfect. Overall, I thought Blue Devils had the best show. The guard was the best. Second place overall I have to give to Santa Clara. Really great show and with their new ending, it really added up. But I think they need to tie up some loose ends on the ending with something. Yes the trombones make a second appearance near the end of the show. I have to say myself, I thought Cavaliers had a really great show. I liked it better than Bluecoats and Crown. But I have to say I was disappointed in Phantom. It just left me flat. The colors were depressing is what comes to me first. It just was not a top 7 show. They just did not stand out at all. I think the arrangement of Swan Lake was.... "the usual".
  4. 8:15AM Houston. It's about 77 degrees now, basically still wet, and very very humid. UNCOMFORTABLE OUTSIDE. Today is a day to basically stay indoors with lots of cold air conditioning.
  5. There's nothing 'amazing' about it. The guy eventually wants to start politicizing the weather, Al Gore, scientists, conspiracy theories, etc. blah blah blah....then everyone starts getting into a debate, then it descends from there.
  6. Actually this is a forum for drum corps in case you didn't noticed. Keep your ideas and things about your doubts about Global Warming and Climate Change away from this forum. It doesn't belong here.
  7. Did anyone find it "funny" or "unusual" or "so what", that both BD and Cadets score last weekend was 76.05?
  8. Too many props. I can't wait till it starts raining on field, or the prop truck breaks down on the way to Indy. Too much singing and electronics. That little percussion feature was interesting though I have to say.
  9. NO NO NO NO NO! DO NOT EVER think about putting DSOTM onto a football field. EVER!
  10. Three very solid and formidable metal bleachers, with wheels. Perfect for those practicing all those song and dance routines from "Glee" on the soccer field.
  11. I'm in L.A. this week and weekend and lo and behold, I've been surprised to find out Santa Clara and Pacific Crest will be performing in some capacity with the L.A. Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl (!) in a Tchaikovsky Spectacular with Fireworks. Yes I'll be going! Here is the link: http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/tickets/calendar-fullseason -Roger
  12. What a stupid post. There is no blame or credit. It's called history. Just go away.
  13. The theater I was at in Texas, ESarn brought the house down. The kids responded to ESarn more than any other thing. Santa Clara received by far the most aplause. The least? Blue Devils. There was actual booing of BD in the theater, before the start of their show. And how about the shirtless ESarn crazy guy with the gong, with the tiny hand cymbals, and all the goofiness? That's what I call Constantly Risking Absurdidty! Job Well Done! aAhyahaaaahaya - ayaaayayayaya....
  14. I thought it was sad this year. The kids performing in darkened tents. Oh and the BD percussion ensemble. Terrible. Just a bunch of unmusical same volume street beats. And it won? I personally think it's kinda silly how some of the percussion soloists verbally say the name of the 'piece' they are going to be playing. The piece will never be performed or remembered again, right?
  15. I would change: Individual and Ensemble competitions. Look at how few coprs really entered into the competitions. Missing were most of the top 12 World class corps. From the looks of some of the videos, most were performed in darkened tents outside on pavement. I will say as a former marching member from 30 years ago, that some of the percussion entries, such as tenor, percussion ensemble, and snare, are really, I hate to say, almost boring. The typical performer in these categories comes onto perform, announces some obscure self-titled title of the piece he/she has thought up, and then begins on some unmusical rudimentary jam. Many times the pieces don't make any sense at all. I saw BD's percussion ensemble video this year and I thought, "This is it?" How boring!
  16. Drilltech: Quit trying to create *drama* and controversy when none is there. You lose.
  17. Good lord people, Move on. Nothing more to see here. He apologized twice. They are in Alabama/Mississippi today and tonight. All are still alive. The world still is round. Move on to the next topic.
  18. No one is talking about it because BD is so boring this year. Yawn.
  19. For me at least, BD 2013 may be the first time a Hot Dog corps may win it all in Indy. I saw BD last night in San Antonio. They were on last. I was just so bored. Too too much going on and not in a good way, and what does it mean. I don't want to try figuring it out. Crowd response and applause was the least of all the top 6 to 8 corps. I mean very few people standing and applauding.
  20. ""TWO LOVERS SAT ON A PARK BENCH, WITH THEIR BODIES TOUCHING EACH OTHER, HOLDING HANDS IN THE MOONLIGHT..." "... bodies touching each other ...." eeeeeeeewwwwwww.. in a public park? This is archaic and naive. Me thinks two lovers in this day and age, would also be texting their friends and web surfing on their phones and taking "selfies" of their two bodies touching each other.
  21. 1. Crown 2. Tie (Cadets and BD) 4. SCV 5. Bluecoats 6. Phantom 7. Madison 8. Blue Knights 9. Cavaliers 10. Spirit of Atlanta 11. Boston Crusaders 12. Crossmen
  22. Johnathan, I have to say, "GREAT JOB" so far!!! These arm chair, second fiddle naysayers, negativists,...don't do any good but make the rest of us stronger. It's so funny to read how they pounce down on the corps, telling you it's going to be a failure, blah blah blah... Keep it going and hallelujeah! Roger Houston, TX.
