  1. I think I meant both in that I want it to get here quickly and my enthusiam grows. LOL Maybe the word should be exponentialldientially!
  2. Fran, You are missed at every show you can't make on both the DCI and DCA sides. I will toss an extra "baby" for you on the first big push of the night.
  3. I completely agree. I have been a subscriber almost every year and this is an excellent tool for my students. I host my seniors and section leaders every year to watch semifinals which always fall in the middle of our marching band camp. It is a great way to motivate the students going into the second week. The graduating seniors always tell the rising seniors about this event. Thanks to DCI for all of the improvements they continue to make on this tool.
  4. Thanks Murphy. I had seen this announcement. I was hoping to find out if the mobile device comments were an ap or just run via the web. I also was hoping to see numbers.
  5. We are coming up on renewal time for Fan Network. What are the updates and changes? I have heard rumors about an Ap and more live shows. Just rumors and would love to hear some facts including pricing.
  6. I am doing the drive from Virginia for this one. We lost the show in Warrenton, so I will have to travel to see any shows this year and this one is definitely worth the trip.
  7. I don't count the days, just the level of being psyched that is increasing expedientially. Wow, that's a big word for me.
  8. I believe so. Here is the announcement from dci.org Featuring the Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, Cadets, Cavaliers, Madison Scouts and Phantom Regiment, the “2014 DCI Tour Premiere” will be taped on Saturday, June 21 in Akron, Ohio and broadcast in cinemas across the country just two days later. 9. I know you know this, just getting stoked early. Bluecoats - Canton, OH Carolina Crown - Ft. Mill, SC The Cadets - Allentown, PA Phantom Regiment - Rockford, IL Boston Crusaders - Boston, MA Madison Scouts - Madison, WI The Cavaliers - Rosemont, IL
  10. OK, I just bought my ticket for Akron and am psyched. Sitting up top with the last ticket in my section. 7 of the top 9 meet. The biggest lineup for a starting week that I can remember. Correct me if I am wrong, but I just don't recall this many top corps meeting in the first week of the season. Who is going and what are you most excited to see?
  11. Might I remind you, as has been said many times before, Regiment won it all by themselves with no ties doing a repeat in 2008. Spartacus was done twice in the 80s by Regiment and pulled off a silver before they won it all in 2008. Regiment does what Regiment does and they do it very well.
  12. While I am sad that the DC area won't get a show this year, I am glad to hear that the four corps were able to be added to the West Chester show. However, it does support the comment regarding high schools vs. colleges. Four corps move from a high school venue to a unviersity venue due to a cancellation I wonder what will happen for Pioneer and The Academy. They now have no show between Salem, VA and Allentown. Corps housing could be a challenge.
  13. Let's get back on topic. Is $25-27K for a WC competition too high a price for a high school to host a show? The number of competitions at high schools continue to shrink. Soon the only place to see a DCI competition will be at a college or pro stadium like most DCA shows. While the venue is great in larger sites, does that remove high schools from hosting DCI competitions on weekdays?
  14. Us “old corps guys” view the term "a few years back" as a relative term. A few years back for me may be different than for you.
  15. Some corps will set up their own site. That usually occurs when returning to a previous location or alumni are involved. However, most of the time, it is the responsibility of the competition host as garfield has stated.
  16. I know that the Warrenton, VA show host cancelled and DCI was scrambling for a host. This weekend, they took the show off the schedule. That means no show in the Washington, DC metro area.
  17. I see that DCI is starting to cancel shows on the schedule. Several are also marked as TBD. Has DCI priced themselves out of range for high schools to host a competition? The price is getting high and some schools just can't afford the host fee. Here is a list of the shows so far: July 6 - Dixon petunia Festival, Site to be determined July 23 - TBD July 24 - TBD July 26 - TBD July 29 - TBD July 30 - Warrenton, VA (Cancelled) July 31 - TBD There may be other cancellations that I missed. Where do we go from here?
  18. The first indoor show is only a couple days away. I guess we will have an answer soon enough.
  19. Too actually select the live tab, it has to be on the screen. I bought the live package as well and it is not there. Are others having trouble with the page loading completely?
  20. I am glad someone said that before me. I truly enjoyed playing that piece in '80. Marching over the rifles witout killing them as payback for the rifle throw over the hornline wasn't bad either. Ending on our backs was killer!
  21. Since I was raised in Milwaukee, I think it is a copy of Prince Fielder's walk-off home run. A common man making a super hero victory. OK, I know it's corny, but how often can you get a Milwaukee Brewers reference in a drum corps conversation. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=6511913
  22. This was the horror story that has become the feel-good story of the summer. I am so glad I have been a part of the drum corps activity over the past few decades. From the support we received after the shock we dealt with following finals in 1980 while marching with Cavies, to the support we shared with fellow corps after winning a DCA championship in 2010, this activity has always made me feel good for deciding to return to the marching arts activities in Drum Corps and teaching marching band. Thanks to all of the corps and the fans that support this activity even when things don't quite work out as originally planned.
