  1. I'd rather DCI get the cash than a specific corps.....
  2. A corps should start playing it, and then rick-roll the crowd. I'd be pleased.
  3. I personally love the music from the Bourne series. I'm pretty excited
  4. Drum Corps is one of the few things on this planet that can put you through hell, and make you want to come back and do it again and again, even when you're not allowed to anymore. In my experience 90% of drum corps sucks. Rehearsal, every-days, impossible licks, ankle-breaking drill, 178 degree weather, paired with the dreaded phrase, "Again." The other 10% makes it all worth it. Performing, crowds going wild, putting everything you have into that last performance. It's truly remarkable. anyways that's my 2 cents.
  5. Ok, let's get real here. The sole reason Hopkins is starting this corps is so he can test the waters. Uniform change? no problem. See if it works and apply it to WC cadets next season. experimental concepts? try 'em out with Cadets2. Think of it as a dress rehearsal But seriously having a hole filling entity mid-season is genius. Surf is already basically the Cadets stepping stone, so I do see this hurting them in some way. However "killing" surf is not gonna happen. Bob knows what he's doing over there 'Twill be interesting that's for sure.
  6. Like, not even of this earth. If i could hire them to play whenever I entered a room I would.
  7. Eh I think it can go either way. I think it was more of BD's book being harder than Cavies not executing well. They were incredible though.
  8. Yeah, I agree it's really hard to pick one. Especially with the difference of G and Bb in mind for sound. I'll do a recent version. Best sound - Crown 2009. Just a huge wall of rich sound. They definitely deserved the Ott that year. Best execution - Cavaliers 2004 #### that book is clean. The individual performance level is stellar.
  9. 1) Touche. I admit my contradictions and agree with your logic. (seriously feel like an idiot) 2) In my case uncomfortable and unnatural basically mean the same thing. (not uncomfortable as in pain). There was never a time where any instructor I've had told us to be in pain in that sense of discomfort, but more along the lines of being in an unnatural position should never feel right (comfortable). Also in the mental aspect, you should never be comfortable with your situation, always checking yourself (even if it does become "second nature"). IMO no matter how many times you repeat some of the concepts in marching it'll never feel natural. anyways sorry for being a d###### again.
  10. my point wasn't that straight leg causes injuries. It was that it's not natural. I remember being told time and time again, "If you're comfortable, you're wrong." Even "doing it right" feels unnatural.
  11. It sounds more quoted than just similar. Like even the counter melodies are exactly what phantom plays.
  12. So Phantom Regiment lists their 2010 selections as being from New Moon in the Old Moon's Arms by Michael Kamen. However I stumbled across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=or-COMb5z-s So did Kamen use New Moon in the Old Moon's Arms in his Band of Brothers score? Or what? Just want some clarification.
  13. ehhh.... I'm going to have to disagree. Straight leg causes so many knee/ankle problems it's ridiculous. I've got a buddy who needs knee surgery after marching straight leg. However, straight leg definitely uses the least amount of energy, and I think makes the whole process of playing and marching as easy and efficient as possible.
  14. IMO that was the fluffiest show I'd seen in a while.
  15. This is quite the motivational event. Make finals... or you'll have to do a parade tomorrow. Classic.
  16. I've always wondered if drum corps can continue to have a solid core fan base. A group of people willing to pay the extra buck to see the activity prosper, and will be fans for life. Then I saw the age-outs going bananas at the star alumni performance. Drum corps fans will be drum corps fans forever, and more and more will be made every year. There's nothing anyone can do about it. Today's current marchers will be tomorrow's biggest fans. We'll be fine.
  17. chris beat her up. now she needs a new fella... ella ... ella
  18. I'm pretty sure last year's show required thought and reflection considering that to this day people still don't understand it. Also I wouldn't call last year's show "safe" either. That drill was insane and very spread out. The entire corps was exposed. Safe? no. Oh and I'm excited about the show too. My only hesitation is rihanna, but I'm sure everything will be done tastefully.
