  1. That is an awesome story. Thanks for sharing
  2. Jon was a great person. He and I never actually met, but we met thru the old BD forums page. We talked a lot together. LOL we shared the same west chester story I told you. A solid man
  3. WOW to me you guys that year were incredible. 85 vanguard was truly incredible so you marched with Jon Wagoner?
  4. I do not post much here, I stay away from the drama. Let me preface, I am a FMM of Cadets, I am a Cadet in my bones. My greatest drum corps moment ever was seeing SCV in Westchester in 1985. SCV and Cadets were within tenths of each other. Vanguard won that show and did a standstill of their show as an encore. They got in an arc and when I say they made me cry. I luckily to this day have that encore that I recordered on cassette, lol now on my hard drive. 1985 Vanguard to me is the greatest corps put on a field, until this year. I have been fortunate enough to see them live several times and in rehersals as well. This show, the performers are special. Once in a lifetime special
  5. btw mr 93, we watched ur 93 show tonite, always blows my mind. have a few friends that marched that year. one of my fav Cadets shows. FHNSAB
  6. I am just playing devils advocate, I know it would not work, but it would be interesting to see a corps say screw it, we are bucking the system. the reaction would be interesting is all we brought up while having a few to many guiness lol
  7. Every year around this time a bunch of us FMM get together for some good bbq and beverages. WE talk about the times we marched together etc. LOL Usually a fun topic comes up as it did today. What if a corps, say Cadets decided to say, screw it, we are gonna do 1987 App spring as originally done. Devils say, ya know what, we are gonna do 1982 One More Time show. Madison says 1988, bring it to us. How would that score today????? No flash, just old school drum corps. If perfected would these shows score with current corps. It would be interesting if a corps went this direction and just said screw it, I know it is never gonna happen, was just a fun topic that came up.
  8. I play soccer there (over 40 league). field is nice and nice facility.
  9. one can read many things in this. contradiction, yet trying to be optimistic. just found it weird the way it was worded and I guess quoted
  10. this thread has become so................. idiotic. hop side vs. non hop side. gett lives people. it is drum corps. I chuckle at both sides every time I rarely check in here. pathetic put more effort into things that truly matter, I trust that if people did not not want to work with mr, Hopkins............ won't kids that don't want to march under him won't. I stated my case pages ago and it got deleted. to reiterate in a nutshell. I am a fmm, after had business dealings, nothing but class. but the direction now nah, I respect him, he actually shaped a bit of who I am. but, I also will not attack his integrity. I think the man deserves respect. that said. I also think he needs to rethink some things,

  12. For the past 30 years, every Labor Day weekend, I host a large BBQ, with long time friends in the drum corps world. Today was fun. We talk etc. But a topic came up today and thought it was fun. Name 1 and I mean 1 show, from each decade, so be it your favorite, transitional, best, activity impact, or just all out great etc. here are the parameters: 1972-1979 1980-1989 1990-1999 2000-2009 2010-present Just name 1 from each. It is tuff, we laughed a lot but it was fun, ranged from champions to 20th place corps.
  13. Bloo touched the progressive music Scene with Thank You Scientist, Zappa. I think this would be a perfect fit. It is 22 minutes but I think Bloo could do wonders with it.
  14. LOL ferris. classic brotha, the youngins may not get the reference, brilliant, satirical post
  15. On a small hand basis that may be true to. When you start talking millions/billions. IRS does not have the time to go after the person that did not pay 100 bucks on their taxes. Do not get me wrong, there are places such as (and I am assuming all those you listed refer to college football programs). it happens. I am not condoning it.
  16. Judges have been working with bands, corps (before rule changes) , which is totally acceptable. I see your inference, meaning Cadets. Most judges at some point have an affiliation with a corps. I have many friends that are judges that have been/marched/taught corps in the past. It is a small field for quality judges. All we can do is respect that the judges are impartial. LOL In a perfect world. I have no problem with judges having an affiliation. Again, small world. All I ask for is no bias. If what you are referencing, again I think your point is aimed at Cadets. Actually, judges that do YEA shows, do it for the love of the activity. TRUST me, they actually lose money personally. Between flight, room, food. They actually basically lose money during a judging a YEA show. So no, I have no problem.
  17. Mr. DeLebirto was an amazing man. Great person. Talented but also very funny, philosophical, etc. I remember a long talk we had one day while on tour. I will keep that conversation to myself. But let's say it is a talk that defined who I am now. RIP SIR
  18. I was going to bring that up a few days ago. But did not want to hear from a certain Rocky Top person. Scatter has been going on for ages, 85 Cadets, 87 Disapearing front back into a front etc. Many more examples could spend a day talking about. BTW, Tom , was an integral part as a tech for us in 86. Talented, great guy.
