  1. The score on DCA and on CV site says Southern Knights 73, fighting it out with Sun
  2. I spoke with several corps about bus cost, If you are chartering for more than 30 days it seemed to be about $1,000 a day, but I know 3 day weekends will cost about 5k. I planned 300 mile trip for a local senior center the first bus company I called wanted 4k for a one day trip. that trip we wound up renting vans. AN earlier post from a former MBI member broke doen their cost I think he said 10k for 6 days with long milage and needing relief drivers,
  3. Bus cost depends on distance traveled bus cost is quite a bit higher than that, this issue is the same reason Blue Devil B and SCV cadets didn't go to DCI Finals this year and why many west coast DCI Open Class tours stick to only the west coast.
  4. Just for thought the DCI yearbook 2019 list the following All Age corps that have some relationship with DCI: Atlanta CV, Carolina Gold, Chops, Cincinnati Tradition, Columbus saints, Crusaders senior, Govenaires, Muchachos, North Star, Southern Knights and Sunrisers. Only one is a Northeastern DCA corps and several are I believe alumni type corps
  5. A lot of the posters here are discussing DCA 20 years ago, it is very different today, and very different for corps that are more than 200 miles from PA than for corps within 200 miles of Philly. Most DCA Corps encourage or require their members to avoid this site because of the trolling and because todays corps have little in common with the hard partying DCA corps of 30 years ago.
  6. Star of Indiana was at the top of their game, full DCI member when they left DCI, Just because you are a top dog does not mean you are 100% behind the organization
  7. Much of the frustation for out of the NorthEast Corps is the other corps and not so much DCA admin. It is very difficult to get a Northeastern Corps to travel out of that area for a show. Why pay 10k to bus your corps to Minn and lose a whole weekend of practice while riding the bus, when you can do a local show at very little cost. The same idea applies to Finals. If you can save 20k by having finals near your home you can save your members dues money and help your corps finances. The corps bank account that year takes precidence on the location vote. Having it near saves money for the corps but does not expand exposure for DCA. moving finals out of the region could expand exposure for DCA and help out of market corps, but the NorthEast Corps might have to add $200 to their dues, and many members would rather save $200 than expand DCA's presence and exposure. The Corps vote and the majority of corps is still in the NorthEast, I think they vote looking out for their members, but it makes if more expensive and difficult for corps out of the NorthEast. The added travel time for distant Corpd makes the Labot day thing an even bigger issue since marcher need to miss an extra day of school or work to travel. I think a lot of folks in the NE don't realize the added costs in money and time that out of region corps face
  8. A big thing in keeping DCI going is strong investment in the corps by parents. I don't think many DCA corps have really embraced parents and given them a stong role in shaping the corps. I think a lot of the coprs still think they are senior corps while the average age may be younger than most DCI corps. ANyway that has been my fight getting parents involved and getting the corps to respect the opinions of parents. I think this may be one thing that helps DCI fill stadiums
  9. I like Bloo's show, though I would like to see more marching in lines (old dinosaur in me) However what bugs me about Bloo is that I don't see any 17 year olds out there marching with them. The corps has made a great environment for performers making it easy to attract seasoned performers, but I look at them and I don't see kids. Even BD always has younger performers especially in percussion. Just my opinion and the show was good I just have my own ideas about the activity
  10. FLO actually got the muppets tonight so they are much improved over last night, though I think they miss some good spots of the show. Really I need to be watching live.
  11. That is because with all the different uniforms they didn't know if people would recognize the Marines.
  12. I really hope PR is really on tonight, they worked very hard to pass Crossmen then didn't keep up last night. I love the start of the show
  13. Good thing about Phantom Regiment this year is that if you are bad at names you can just call everyone in the corps Joan (not to be confused with Jonz)
  14. represent a French faction, they are all together at the beginning behind jOAN
  15. I was happy about the important things, Phantom regiment beat Crossmen. I like BD a little over Bloo still, I think Flo missed quite a bit if BD show in real life they march quite a bit, the broadcast seemed to focus on the peeps standing still. However overall sound in my theater was very good all corps put it down tonight
  16. I am loving Les Stentors, They really make the best of what they have, awesome example of what a small corps can do. Extremely well thought out and well written show.
  17. I am a borderline Blue Devils hater, however I thought they should have won last night. I liked Blues music and show concept better but it seemed not to have had some rough transitions. However the Blue Devils had a very clean show and they still did some marching in lines which excites the old school traditionalist in me. I was also surprised to like the Troopers this year, aditional .While I loved the old traditional uniforms I thought the new uniforms fit their show. I was up on the third deck and their formations looked good and fit well into their show theme. Xmen and Phantom much better live than on flo. Cavies show was good much better than it appeared 2 weeks ago on flo, but something is missing I will probably wake up at 2am tomorrow and realize exactly what it was, but I cant quite think of good wording to explain it.
  18. I like to save old tickets in my scrap book, however when I went to buy paper was not an option. I think we are losing something not having memetoes like that anymore as technology moves forward
  19. I thought all the tickets were electronic, not sure why they would have them at will call ?
  20. Well if you want to check out our show we will be on Flo Marching Saturday at 1:57 to do our show, which was last rehearsed on Sat , so it may be a little sloppy but you can get the general idea.
  21. Tonight several DCA Corps kick off their 2019 seasons (partly because of rain in PA last week, Tonight Atlanta CV, Southern Knights and the defending Class A Champions Carolina Gold will be competing at the DCI open class show in Millbrook AL. I think they get a DCI score which is good for self improvement but not directly relatable to a DCA Score Tomorrow, Sunday the 14th they will be at a DCI/DCA show in Wookstock GA where they will receive a DCA score. As someone who work helps out at Carolina Gold I am pretty excited about this years show. Last year was a rebuilding year and this year we actually have a clue about what we are doing . I hope the show on the field is good but however the scores turn out Gold has been a fun corps this year and the kids have improved greatly over the past 2 months. The lids are happy and I think it will show ias they present a fun and entertaining show
  22. CV did not do the MD parades, they will not be on flo until the DCI Southeastern champs on July 27. unless they filming something special for them.
  23. This is one time that I am really glad that my prediction was wrong, also looking forward to getting the DVD. I think we will have a great show this year, we already have the full show down and we are going to really good by Labor Day, and I can't wait to be able to get a high quality video to watch after we get home from Williamsport.
